Microwave Oven ???

Hey all on the DIS Boards....I have received some really fabulous advice while on the DIS....


How do I clean my Microwave Oven ...what do you use? The ceiling is really pretty bad...(lots of splatters etc etc )...??


Any advice, any ideas from you all will be greatly APPRECIATED!!!

Take a glass bowl or a glass measuring cup of water and let it come to a boil in the microwave. Do not take it out of the microwave...let it steam the inside until it begins to cool off. Then wipe away. This really helps and you should have not to scrub very hard.

Well, I know that's not always realistic. But that water thing really does the trick!

I quarter a lemon, microwave it for a couple of minutes and then just wipe off the gunk. It also makes the microwave smell good.

I like mr. clean majic eraser. It cleans EVERYTHING! Except for that blue spot on the wall.. i think it made it worse

I agree with the lemon in a bowl water, nuke so it boils for a few minutes. When it's done, just wipe out oven, the lemon also cleans out stinky smells from the filter like popcorn.

YIPPPPPPEEEEE SKIPPPPEEEEE!!! It worked. I have been running it several times. I put a pyrex 2-cup measuring bowl in the Microwave and have been running it then letting it STEAMMMM and then I would scrub it with a sponge and the gunt has all come off, have been doing this intermittently. Had to run to a MD appt...back now and looks fabulous. Next time I will throw in a lemon wedge....

OH and BTW: I fired the cleaning lady ..YES I DID about 4 months ago as she was cutting corners BIG TIME . I spoke to her about "forgetting rooms" and using (get this people) my little Oreck electric broom (that is for quick spills) to vacuum the entire house.......NOT HAPPENING ...bye bye!!!! She is gone so I have been doing all the cleaning..ugh..

I spent ONE HOUR w/KABOOM on the upstairs toilet...do you think I am CRAZY ..I realized today when I finished that I spent 60 minutes obsessing over the toilet......

I do this, but I also add vinegar to the mix. 1 part water/1 part vinegar. Not only does it steam the inside, it works as a disinfectant as well.

I use vinegar to clean everything in my kitchen. It's wonderful for wooden cutting boards!

Hmmmm, I like hearing about cleaning tips but I dont want to actually use the tips, cause then I have to stop dis'ing....
