I have a document, that has fill in the blanks, that I made up. I would like to email this to people, have them fill in the blanks and email back to me.

How do I make the lines fillable, without moving the lines?

Like I have this...

Address:________________

I need them to be able to type their address in without making the line move forward....which is what happens now.

I know I can stop that from happening, but how?

Thanks!

I think the easiest way would be to put Address: _________ in a 2 column table format. Have only the bottom borders of the second column showing. Does this make sense to you?

You need to create a form - (there is a toolbar for forms) and once you have your "text boxes" in place and your document is complete, you will lock it - also on the toolbar, and then when you share the document the user will be able to fill in the blanks without moving the rest of the text.... I create forms occasionally for work and use this method.

How do I create a form?

and escape, that makes no sense at all :D

Escape is talking about making a table and then only showing part of the border. Go to TABLE, INSERT TABLE, then you indicate how many columns and rows you want. Then after you have inserted the table you can format the borders.

I have Word 2003, so I am going to tell you what I can - not sure what version you have, but I think it was similar in previous versions.

In your document, first go to View, Toolbars, and click on Forms. This will open up the Forms Toolbar.

On that toolbar, you should see "abc" - this is used to insert a text field into your document that will be able to be "filled in" when the form is created.

You would type your "label".... i.e Address: and a space or two after the address, you will click on the "abc" icon on the toolbar. You will then see a gray box inserted. You would do this for each line you wanted a text box that can be completed.

Once you have your document completed, you will click on the "lock" icon on the tool bar, and your document is ready to use as a form. It must be locked for the form features to work, and unlocked to edit the form in any other way.

If you search on "Create Forms" in the Microsoft Office help - it will also give you step by step instructions.

It is very easy, once you give it a try!!!
