Microsoft Windows Updater..

I can't download this stuff anymore...
Download progress works..
But install progress takes FOREVER and then doesn't complete...
HELP!!!

Have you rebooted recently?

Seem to be rebooting more than usual....
Have checked for viruses and come up empty..
I have Norton Systemworks 2001 for my computer and Zone Alarm is installed and also have recently downloaded ad-aware...

The only thing i can think of is the Kodak EasyShare software...

The Norton keeps getting message Catalog Error on C: when I run Speed Disk and recommends running DiskDoctor and that doesn't help either..

Uninstall the Kodak and see if it works then

Try shutting everything down that you don't need running through Ctrl+Alt+Delete (keep systray and explorer) open and see if that helps.

I've tried shutting everything down except explorer and Windows Update & no luck..

I would probably do a system restore and try to get to a restore point where the computer worked again. Have you tried that?

Everything works fine...Just can't really do a defrag through System works...I'm reloading Kodak Easyshare now..

Yes, Columbus is still in one piece... not sure if the threats of suspension to any student who was arrested at either here or Tempe for disordly related conduct worked or if the damage will be seen tomrrow. But neither Luis nor I heard of anything major in the area.

I reloaded the EasyShare & rebooted, something looks different, it appears that the EasyShare created a 'F' drive along with the a & c drive..trying download again, it is going a little faster...fingers crossed....
Theses processes take so long...if this works then i'll have to try and run a speed disk...DW gets frustrated sometimes with me and all my fiddling around...

Shep I don't think it's your PC having trouble with the Windows Updating site, I think it's the site. I had the same thing happen 2 nights ago, and so did TVT....Download worked...install just kind of hung there. I rebooted and tried again and the same thing happened. I rebooted again, and it worked fine on the third try.

I just ran my windows update and it worked just fine. Microsoft just has a way of driving you crazy I think. It's all part of the master plan to make you think your computer is doomed so you can go out and buy a new one. Computers are just ticking time bombs designed to just poop out and slow down after a couple of years so you have to go buy the latest and fastest model available.

I would be really suspicious of the norton stuff, I've seen it cause absolute nightmares with systems, I would try uninstalling it but that may not work cause once it has it's hooks in your system it doesn't let go easily.
The norton antivirus is good, the rest of the stuff is completely unnecesary.

Alex--I have had installs done after Norton was on my computer but I haven't been able to install anything since Dec. 17th...

I uninstalled Norton & Kodak Easyshare and got all the uploads to work except one...good enough...
