Thanks in advance ... it used to be that when I got a new message in Microsoft Outlook, a little yellow envelope appeared next to the clock in the bottom-right hand footer on my screen. I can't figure out how to get that feature back in my new version of outlook here. I love that feature. Anyone have any idea how to turn it on? I see that by going to Tools / Options / Email Options / [check] Display a Notification Message when new mail arrives, Outlook will prompt a java gui box to show up in the middle of my screen to alert me to new messages, but I really liked the little yellow envelope ... it was discreet ...

If you go into the advanced email options there is a check box to display envelope in the system tray

Hmm, I don't see it. I see three categories in advanced email options: save messages, when new items arrive, and when sending a message. I only see two checkboxes under when new items arrive: play a sound and briefly change the mouse cursor. Am I looking in the wrong place? If so can you please specify a path?

Thanks!

On mine it's just beow the change cursor check box.....not sure where else it would be for yours??

Hi danacara - what version of Outlook are you running?

Thanks anyway cami,
Hi Pete's Mom,
the version is "Microsoft Outlook 2000 SR-1, Corporate or Workgroup"

In Outlook 2002, there are three selections under Advanced Email Options/When new items arrive:

Play a sound
Briefly change the mouse cursor
Show an envelope in the system tray

I don't have a copy of Outlook 2000 here, and I can't recall if these options were different. Sorry.:(

With WinXP - Right click on the task bar at the bottom of your screen, next to the clock but to the left of that area. If you click on properties there should be an option to always show, always hide or hide when inactive. You want to select the always show option. I'm not on my home pc w/XP so I hope I got it right for you. My work PC uses NT and things are setup somewhat differently.

YES! Yay! It's back! Thank you!
