Microscope Slide Necklace Variation

I plan to do these for gifts this year, thanks to this thread. Hope to play with them this weekend.

But I also thought I'd like to circle necklaces of a similar type. So I was thinking watch crystals "soddered" or taped, back to back instead of the ms slides. Trouble is, I can't find any reasonably priced sources for them. Any alternate ideas??
