NOW I DRIVE US DOWN THE STREET, I PRAY THE LORD MY SOUL TO KEEP

Well, ladies and gents, today's the day. Yes siree, it's finally here.... THE day we leave for Walt Disney World! I'm so ready for this vacation. As ya'll know, I try to keep all my posts all happy and funny but it's been pretty dismal around our house the last few days.

The aunt that I posted about before has been given hours to days to live. Another aunt is in the hospital with a lesion on her brain and they aren't really sure what they can do, if anything. My mother's first cousin just found out that she has awful scar tissue on her lungs due to the radiation treatments she took for breast cancer which is now complicating other health issues. My uncle will start dialysis very soon (my dad died while on dialysis so my uncle isn't in a very good place right now). John's parents' next door neighbor shot and killed her husband. It's all so overwhelming so suffice it to say that this vacation is very much needed.

Okay, enough sad talk!

Over the course of the weekend, the cabinets we built were installed and all of our packing was done. I have everything sitting in the dining room waiting to be put into the back of our vehicle as soon as I get home. If it weren't 91 degrees out, we would have packed it all last night but I hate for toiletries to sit in the heat all day long. Everything on my "to do" list for both the office and at home are all checked off. Of course, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the bossman will take pity on me and let me leave early but I'm sure that'll probably not happen so I'm not holding my breath.

Our goal is to be on the road by 5:45 or 6:00 p.m. this evening. We'll drive until we reach our haunted hotel in Crestview. Most of the driving will be done at night which doesn't bother us much because there's not a lot to see as you travel across Louisiana and down Mississippi.

Thanks for all the safe travels posts. I do indeed hope that our travel is safe and will be saying this prayer as we drive "Now I drive us down the street, I pray the Lord my soul to keep....."

It's seems like I've waited a whole year for this trip. Wait! I have waited a whole year. I'm hoping that this vacation will make us forget about all the sad things.
