Has anyone done this with their families, my understanding is they close down the park at 6pm and those with the bands -wrist stay until midnight, there is a fee, is it nice?

MVMCP is very popular, and has been the topic of numerous threads on the Theme Parks Board. With the new Boards conversion I know the search function won't be up for awhile, otherwise you could get tons of info via a search. Anyway, most DISer's will likely tell you that MVMCP is wonderful. I am a party-pooping dissenter. I personally don't feel it is worth the money they charge for this special event. Yes, you can do some of the rides without much waiting, but for the weeks leading up to Christmas the parks aren't all that busy and waits not too long, and sometimes non-existent, during regular park hours. What attracted us to the event was the special shows, however they were all mobbed, and we couldn't get to all the ones we wanted to see. The parade was great, but the year we attended they also ran the same parade on Sunday afternoons during regular MK park hours. They have fake snow on mainstreet during MVMCP, but the fake snow at MGM during the Osborne Lights is just as good. Like I said...I am the MVMCP party pooper!

We went a couple of years ago and although it did cost extra, we thought it was worth it. It was our first trip to WDW. It wasnt really crowded and we felt like we got our moneys worth out of the night. We received a free photo that they took that night, and there was complimentary cocoa and cookies.

We went a few years ago- we bought the tickets as a way to save a day on our hoppers. We just hung out at the resort pool in the day and then headed to MVMCP after dinner. It was fun but to get your $$ worth your kids need to be able to stay up late. Also it was sold out when we went and VERY crowded. It was the only time we had crowd trouble on our trip.
We are skipping it this time.

I thought you still had to pay a separate admission to MK to enter the party. That's what we had to do the the halowe'een party. If you don't have to, then that's great, it'll save us money when we go next year. Also, I was wondering, at the hallowe'en party you could get a free picture taken with your family and they mailed it to you. Do they do that at the Christmas party as well?

We attended MVMCP on 30 November 04. There is a separate admission price, regardless if you are already in the park that day. They had free hot chocolate and cookies (there are about 5 spots thru the park to get these) and also a free family picture that is mailed to you (2 places set up). The lines to the attractions were no more than 5 minutes (tops). My DD (3) was able to see just about all the characters that were out (again 5 minute wait, if that much) - granted we did attend after the Thanksgiving rush and during the week. I would do it again in a heartbeat - we had a BLAST!

You can get into MVMCP with JUST the MVMCP ticket - but you can't go to the park all day with the ticket- you have to wait until around 4 or 5pm.

We did it last Dec and loved it. It was definately worth the money. My kids still talk about it. It snows on Main street, the shows are wonderful. It isn't crowded becasue they only sell a limited # of tickets per night. There were no waits for rides or characters. The second showing of the parade and fireworks are so much less crowded than the first, it's amazing. We had our choice of so many great spots on Main Street and we arrived right before it started. We had a PS at Ohana at 5PM and then took the monorail into MK for the party. It worked perfectly!

i made dinner resv at cinderellas castle for 4:35pm i figured after that time, we would be ready to head back out and the parks will be clearing out a little

We loved it what we do is we enter the park at 4pm with our MVMCP tickets. I have the kids ride the rides during this time so when the party starts we do all the shows. It is awesome...
