Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

So, while visiting my parents in Orlando this December, I decided to buy us all tickets to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. We go to Disney all the time, but this is the first time during the holiday season, and I've always wanted to see Disney during the holidays. We decided we are only going to do the party, so we won't be getting into the park until 4pm. I'm wondering what other peoples' experiences have been with this special event. What makes it so special? What must we catch during this special event? What are the highlights? Obviously, I'm trying to see if we got our $95 worth. We are super excited though!

P.S. Any type of special shopping/items only available during the holidays I should look for?
