I just happened to see that MVMCP is scheduled for the day we were planning on visiting MK. I've watched the video on YouTube and priced it but has anyone been to the party? Is it worth it? We have a 5 yr old and 2 yr old and I know they would enjoy it but I personally don't want to be shoulder to shoulder with thousands of people. The party will be Nov 7th a low crowd level time.

Actually we've found the past two times we've been that the party evenings we had were the least crowded times at MK for us. But the night of your party might be different (I hear Friday night parties are the busiest, and we have only done a Sunday and a Thursday one).

But they were great, lots of Christmas fun that can only be had at the party, the parade, the special fireworks, characters in Christmas outfits for greetings.

It is a tradition for us. DD was 7 at the first one, will be 13 this time, still looking forward to it.

Been lots.

Is it worth it? Well that is hard question. Personally not really, you are looking at paying $65 (or more) for 8 hours in the park (4 till midnight, and that assumes you are willing to have a 5yo up till midnight.) I have a 5yo and I would NEVER keep him up at the park till midnight.

If you go from 4 till say 10:30 (for wishes) you are pay $10/person-hour.

When are you going because if you are going the week of Christmas, Most of the Special stuff will be there for free. Before then you only get Holiday Wishes, on party nights, and the parade. what you are left with is low crowds (mostly) and some character meet and greets that you don't normally have.

The simplest metric about the busy of the party, is look at the pricing.

The more you pay the busier it is.

If it's a night with low price and discounts for DVC/AP then it's a slow night.

I would say yes!

It's got a lot of fun characters that are only out for the event, dance parties, 2 different stage shows, a special christmas parade & fireworks, snow on main street, and cookie & hot chocolate (or apple juice & apple slices) stops all around the parks.

Lines for rides are generally much shorter as most people are off doing special party stuff.

I would say go for it, but remember that you will be missing out on the regular "wishes" fireworks and main st electrical parade, as they won't be running on a party night so you'll have to switch things around if you want to see them

You can check out my most recent party experience in my signature "dec 2013" the update titled "triple dipping maybe?" kicks off the party! :)

November 7 is the first MVMCP so it might be more crowded than some other dates.

If you have not been I think it is worth it. The parade and fireworks are great.

Since your kids are little I would recommend a take-it-easy day and a nap so then can last longer into the night. You can enter MK as early as 4pm with just your party ticket.

I wouldn't recommend it for those ages. I don't think my kids at 5 & 2 would have appreciated the extra stuff at the parties enough for me to justify the cost. I say enjoy MK until 7:00 and then head to the resort pool or go to bed early.

Even if you are walking out of the gate at 7, there's a good chance you won't be getting back to your room until around 8:00. Get to bed early and hit a rope drop the next day!

My kids are older so I scheduled our ADRs for 7:15 & 7:05 at Ohana & Chef Mickey on the party nights. If construction & moods allow, we'll try to watch the fireworks from the Poly beach on the Ohana night.

We've done MNSSHP & MVMCP. I definitely think they are worth doing at least once but would save it until the kids are older.

Also, I've found that MK is less crowded on party days so lines are shorter most of the day and you can accomplish a lot before 7:00.

Good luck & enjoy your vacation whatever you decide!

Not for your little ones. You pretty much need the whole afternoon to rest up for the late night and then few toddlers or preschoolers are going to make it to mid-night and if they do, it means needing to sleep in the next morning and miss rope drop:scared:

We have done and enjoyed the party but did not take our boys as preschoolers.

Thanks everyone. We are are going to be at Disney from Nov 6-14 and we'll be camping at Fort Wilderness. We do have a lazy day planned for the 10th and that's another party day so it might work out better for us. We would not stay the whole time for sure. One of the reasons we want to go is my mother-in-law will be with us and this might be her last trip so we want her to enjoy it and have the memories. And there's five of us adults so if any wanted to stay they could or go back to the campgrounds.

we did it one year it was great my wife really wanted to do it. I think it is worth it to do to at least once.

the crowds were not that bad when we went. so it was good we got great seats for the fireworks and the parade

If you want to do MVMCP, I would not spend the day at MK with children those ages. We are taking our 3 year old DD in December on our last day. We will take it easy during the day, maybe hit EPCOT or DHS in the morning, then nap, then the party.

Disney Tourist Blog has a great writeup on Christmas 2014 at WDW.
