My family will be in Disney the first week of December and I am trying to decide whether or not we should fork out the extra bucks for the party. My boys are 5 & 3, is it worth it?

It's a tough call given their ages. We did it last year on our first trip and my boys were 8 1/2, newly 5 and 3 1/2. The 2 young ones loved the parade, especially my 5 year old but I don't think either of them lasted to see the amazing fireworks. It was great for my older son. Perhaps you can get them to take a good afternoon nap so they can stay up late and take advantage of the festivities. It is a nice party and I don't regret doing it.

If they will stay up late without problems then it could be really fun for them. If however they normally have an early bedtime then it might be too late of a night.

The party was too late for our boys at that age. This is the first year we are thinking of going since DS7 was born. We went before him and enjoyed the party, but it is too much money if they can not stay happy and function for most of the party hours.

The party is nice, but for the money its wasnt worth it for us. The parades and activities were croweded beyond what I thought it would be, they packed people in actually, and like other posters said it was late for the kids. We did not enjoy ourselves. Save your cash and just enjoy the daytime festivities. The Osborne Lights at night in HS, Wishes at MK and the Castle decor, and tree lightlings during the evening hours is enough to enjoy Disney at Christmas time. Oh and there is a parade during the day that incorporates Christmas themes as well at MK. The party is just way over priced and packed for what it offers guests in my opinion.

We went last year for the first time when our kids were 4,4, and 2. We do live in a different time zone, so it wasn't as "late" for them. But we are usually off schedule on vacations anyway. We seem to slowly drift throughout the week to staying up a little bit later than normal.

We were there right when MVMCP started, rode rides and watched the parade. In our opinion in was worth it because of the extremely short ride lines on the day we were there (pre-Thanksgiving). Plus, I didn't really think it was a super huge expense.

We are going back this year and will go the first day of our trip. Our plane lands around 4:00 and we have a 7:30 ADR at Liberty Tree. I figure we will check in, head to MK, eat at our ADR and see how the kids are doing ... hopefully ride a ride or two, then head back to the room.
