We're going to be at WDW for Christmas and New Year. Is there anything that is exclusive to MVMCP that we wouldn't be able to experience at MK over the Christmas period?

To be honest, even if there isn't anything exclusive, I'm very tempted to go to the party just to experience it, plus it is bound to be less busy than MK will be over the actual holiday period!!

Everything at the party is exclusive Elaine.

It has a special Parade, Wishes & a show called Mickeys Twas the night before Christmas amongst other things.

It is definately worth the ticket price. I loved it. :thumbsup2

I went to the MVMCP on November 10th last year. It was great fun! Got to the park just after 4pm so had 3 hours to do rides etc before the party started. The party was quite busy to begin with - went to early showing of Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas and it was packed but after the 1st parade and Holiday Wishes a lot of people headed home.

Rides were a walk on after 9pm - i had my own boat on Splash! I ended up seeing the parade twice but the 2nd parade was much quieter and I had nobody stood in front of me.

It's a great way to get in the Christmas mood and the Castle looks fabulous with the twinkling lights! :wizard:

Hope that helps you decide! :thumbsup2

I'm sure the parade and some of the shows transfer to normal park opening times once MVMCP nights finish (after about Dec.20th).

I definately remember going to see "Twas the Night Before Christmas" show during the day because we didn't get to see it on the night of our MVMCP.
(PS this show is the only time you see Mickey and Minnie in bed together!).

What you won't get is the MVMCP night atmosphere, special merchandise, cookies and hot chocolate and the other specials you get at a MVMCP.

love this party, and the twas the night before christmas show was great.

We went to the party 13th Dec last year & this night was a sell out. It was absolutely packed & to be honest we didn't enjoy it. Spent most of the evening waiting for the parade & fireworks. Parade route was packed loads of pushing & shoving to get good position. Four year old was asleep by the time fireworks were on! I know that the parade & fireworks are run during normal park hours once the parties have finished & in hindsight we would have gone in to see them then. Also really hard to get good parade photos in the dark. Sorry to sound negative just my opinion ;)

we went in November, I think November 22 and it really wasn't that busy and in my opinion well worth it. We really had a great time. Most rides were walk ons, especially later on in the evening. The free hot chocolate and cookies/apple slices were greatly appreciated too as it was quite cold when we were there.

The Night before Christmas show is great, that was very busy though, so if you want a seat get there early. And the fireworks were different too!

Photos from our trip can be seen here.

We went nov 2007 and we loved it we are planning to get tickets again for this november. My two boy faces will stay with me always when they saw santa in his sleigh and the snow falling it was so magical :wizard: it got us so in the christmas spirit.

Thank you everyone, you've convinced me to go! :wizard: Not that I needed much convincing! ;)

No problem, it's far better I am prepared for it to be very crowded as we don't arrive until 16th December so only have the choice of the 17th and 18th and these are obviously going to be the busiest nights. At least it will be quieter than MK on Christmas Day which my daft DH is insisting on doing!!

We ( just DW and I) went in 2007 and it poured with rain.

WE STILL LOVED IT & ARE GOING AGAIN THIS YEAR :goodvibes so it most have been good. we found the rides to all be walk-ons and the snow on Main street is a nice touch.

We went last year and we were very disapointed - there were people who obviously hadnt paid for the party that got to stay in which meant that it was very very busy - and frustrating!! Whilst we were there a CM told another visitor that the special events, parades/shows/fireworks are actually built in to the regualr park hours after the last christmas party - so that might be a better option for you rather than going to the party. I love all the special parties but I was left very disapointed last year to the point that I wont be goingto MVMCP again because of it. MNSSHP was still amazing last year though

Thanks for the further comments. :)

Yikes, that is awful. :sad2:

Trouble is we are going on a cruise on the 20th and don't get back until the 23rd so will 'lose' those days, then the major crowds will hit! :crowded:

I'm going to hope we have a more positive experience than you, if not at least we will be prepared. :)

We went during the second week of December 2007, and had an absolutely amazing time! We took our then three-year-old and in her exact words it was "the best party she's ever been to"! :rotfl: We went to the second parade because the first one was a little crowded...but by the second one, the crowd had really thinned out and we had plenty of stretching room...no one in front of us...and not shoulder to shoulder with the people next to us@ And who doesn't love free hot chocolate and cookies?:)

We were fortunate to go twice in 2008, Dec 7th & Dec 16th, The early one was fantastic, we saw most things and loved the atmosphere, kiddies slept through parade & fireworks which was a shame. It was freezing cold, but the kids were snug. The 16th was a different story, we only did Twas the night before xmas show and parade. It was so packed, you couldnt move, everyone was in a (or seemed to be) bad mood. At least little one gat to see the parade the eldest one missed it again. Have to say the parade was fantastic, the toy solders were fantastic

Thanks guys. :goodvibes
It was freezing cold

I don't like this bit  we've only been at Easter before. How cold was freezing cold IYKWIM. Freezing in that you needed to wear a hoodie or freezing in that you needed a proper winter coat like we would wear in the UK?

When we went it was just a little chilly at night...warm during the day. The night of MVMCP, we wore just think jackets and long-sleeve shirts...and ended up taking the jackets off b/c we were too warm. From what I've read, the weather in WDW in December varies a lot, so you'll probably just have to check the weather once you get closer.

We were there for most of dec and most evenings a hoodie was fine, but the night of the first MVMCP we were wearing gloves and hats. We didnt take coats, we had thick fleece fur lined hoodies and we were still cold. The second time we went, we didnt need our normal hoodies :)

The weather did vary a huge deal, one day we were baking hot in the water parks, but for 2 days it was cool and the odd cold night!!

Would def go in dec again, prefered it to early sept :)
