Hi All

My wife and I plus our 3 kids are coming from Australia to the US for the month of December, spending the 9th - 19th at WDW. We are staying on site, so my wife and I are planning to enjoy the EMH on two nights without the kids, one for MK and the other for Epcot.

I'm thinking tho, since it's the holiday season and all, whether it's worth paying for my wife and I to do the ticketed MVMCP on either the 13th or 15th of December.

I assume the theming is to the extreme end of what Disney do, and I'm sure the atmosphere etc is awesome, but given we are there for 10 days already, would it be a nice "Date night" sort of thing for us to do?

The 13th is a scheduled rest afternoon so we'll be feeling "Up" for a night out - but is it worth paying to go?

Thanks in advance :) :)

Because the Christmas Parade and the Christmas Castle show begin their daily operations on December 19th, you'll be able to watch the two major Party events during regular park hours on the 19th.

By not attending a Party, you'll miss the meet and greets with characters who are only out during the Parties.

I don't know your entire schedule so take this with a grain of salt. We always do MVMCP when we are in the WOrld during the Holiday seasons. This is a fun party with spectacular WIshes and a really awesome parade, and also sports special characters thoughout the MK, and there is also hot cocoa and cookies available. I would reconsider not bringing the children. You know your family so you know if they could stay up, but we have been taking my DGD to hard ticket nights since she was 4, and she always was awake for them. We just started late, and made the following morning a relaxed one.

I think it's worth doing at least once. I love the festive ambiance and that alone is worth the price to me. I did find that Main Street and the Hub tended to be really crowded, but once further back in the park, it was a lot less crowded and more enjoyable for me. I plan on going agains this year. If you do decide to go, I hope you have a great time.

We did it once and loved it. I would say it's definitely worth it, especially if you're coming all the way from Australia!

Worth it is subjective since I don't know how much money you make. :) But we did it and yes it was worth it once.

But most likely would not do it again since probably not going to visit again during the Xmas season. It just wasn't Disney to me.

We did it in 2013, and while I am glad we did it once to experience it, we will probably not do it again. It was way too crowded and busy at the front of the park. That was by far our most stressful night of the trip. We did a few character meets with no lines, but paying extra money to stand in line all night to meet the rare characters is not what I consider a good use of money. It was nice that there weren't many lines for the rides, but we were on a ten day trip so we had more than enough time to ride all the rides at some point during the trip, even without the party.

We did it once and had fun but I would never do it again. It's not worth the cost imo. Plus our kids who are 9 and 11 are so over the whole character thing so that's not a "must-do" for us anymore.

Yes it is worth it IMO. Although, if the prices keep increasing each year like they did this year, I am not sure I'll be able to say it is worth it. I do love it. It is one of those nights where the park atmosphere is so amazing and the crowds are very low. Last year, it felt like I had the park to myself as the night went on. It was truly magical and that is what makes it worth it to me. The hot cocoa and cookies are a real treat while waiting for the parade or fireworks... and walking on almost all of our favorite rides with no waits is awesome! The only time it felt really crowded was entering and walking down Main Street with the snow coming down.. Once you veer off on your path, the crowds with getting lighter. For a one time thing, I think you should take the night out and enjoy it.

Thanks everybody for the comments :)

my wife and I will definitely do it! Sounds amazing, especially to be able to have crowds so light that attractions are walk on

I think you'll have a wonderful time! My husband and I did the party once during an adults-only trip, and it made for a lovely date night. We rode the rides, stopped to listen to the various musical acts, ate our cookies, drank our hot chocolate and saw the parade on Main Street. Just a heads up, though, if you want any party-specific merchandise, like a pin or an ornament, pick it up as soon as the party starts. They run out early!
