I would like some info on the MVMCP We are going in December 2006. Where can I pruchase tickets for this even (we're from CAnada) How far in advance do you need to purchase them? Does it sell out? Is it worth it? We are worried about the shorter park hours the first 2 weeks of Decmeber and wonder if we should get these tickets so we can have extra time at the park. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

My husband and I went the Dec 1-10 in 2004. We thought the same thing in regards to the shorter hours. However because it is such a slow time of year and you don't wait in long lines the shorter hours did not make a big difference. If you are planning on getting to the parks when they open then you do not want to be out late anyway.

We went to the Christmas party on our second night. It was a fun night and if you want to spend the time riding rides the lines are not long. But it is a really late night and you will want to sleep in the next day.

You can purchase them online on the Disney World website. They can sell out but if you plan on going during the week then there are less locals to compete with for tickets.

We went Dec 3rd-16th in 2004 and practically had the parks to ourselves, we didn't know what to do with ourselves sometimes :teeth: We did MVMCP on the 9th (thursday) and it was packed. Definitely wasn't worth the money, in our opinion. Everything had long wait times, the parade was ok, the shows were again ok, in our opinion. The only time we felt was worth it was during the second parade, we rode Splash Mt. and Big Thunder over and over without gettting off. We'll be there this Nov. 26- Dec.7th and wont be doing the party this time. We always plan 2 days at MK and with it being so slow it was plenty of time for us. Hoping for low crowds this year too.

We went to MVMCP on 12/18/05. This was our first time and we enjoyed it, even in a little rain. That was the first date to sell out last year.

Thanks Lory for that reply. My husband and are planning to be there from 27th Nov to4th Dec and I was wondering if the MVMCP would be worth it, especially as it will be no children with us. :teeth: I thought maybe the atmosphere would outweigh the crowds, but am thinking again.

I've been to MVMCP three times now..'03, '04 and '05. Going back this year. But, I will say that the crowds have gotten larger every year. In '03 it was really nice, not too crowded. Then in '04 it was more crowded. Then, last year, it was on the zooey side!! But, I love the atmosphere during the party, so keep going. You just have to decide whether you want to concentrate on the shows or the rides. I figure that I like to do the shows first. Then, if there are any short lines for the rides, I'll do them then. I love the Christmas Parade, the special Wishes fireworks. Yes, it can be a bit expensive but I enjoy it. This year, I get to do MNSSHP in Oct and then MVMCP in Dec!!!

When they go on sale, you can buy the tickets through Disney's main number and eventually (usually a couple weeks after they've gone on sale) you can also buy them online at www.disney.com

Only certain nights sell out, usually Fridays and the last party.

Yes, I think it's worth it.

I have been trying to decide the same thing. It will just be dh & I.
Any opinions would be great.
Thanks.

I just dont understand those that say the parks are empty when they are there, I guess it's just a slow time when they are there.

I've been to the 2005 MNSSHP, and it was crowded.

Then this year, I went the 2nd week of Dec. to MVMCP.

It was a good party. However, there are some things you should know:

1) The armbands simply get you on the attractions, unlike in years past when they made everyone leave the park and only let party goers back in, they now do not close the park and do not "effectively" even try to get non party goers out of the park.

They do check armbands at a few locations but if you were not going to the party and simply wanted to stay in the park , you can, and they dont really try to keep you from doing so (I think they want the income from food, and merchandise sales).

The park was still pretty crowded and people NOT wearing armbands had free roam of the park (could not ride rides) and were even able to get hot chocolate and cookies.

They got to watch the parades and watch the fireworks show.

So the park was still pretty crowded (and ours was not sold out).

It was nice, but the time goes by faster than you think, because unless you hit a dead night (we went on a thursday night), you will still wait some time for rides.

Space Mountain was a 30 minute wait
BTMRR was also a 30 minute wait.
Splash was nearly walk-on, which is not uncommon on late nights in the winter at WDW.

It was nice. I will go back this year but, I wish they would go back to closing the park down and reopening it. I know it's alot more trouble but, when they do that, you really do have the park to yourself.

In this new method, it's nearly like normal, except the masses cannot get on the rides.

That is interesting to know. I think that could make things very crowded. I thought only people attending the party were in the park.
Does anyone else have any experience with this? :confused3

I disagree with the previous poster. I think Disney does a great job, in a short period of time, getting rid of the non-party guests/those without wristbands. I've watched them in action.

Well, I really dont know if you are familiar with previous MVMCP's before they did it like they do now. Maybe you are, but, and maybe it's different on different nights,

But, I can tell you this............

When the park was supposed to close down, they did not close the park.

* They did not require wristband holders go to a specific location (it was more of an "if you want to" type of thing. What they did was close down attractions at areas other than Liberty Square and DID check wristbands on the bridges to get to that location (and they checked the wristbands at the area between Adventureland and Frontierland.). They did NOT however, force people from the park. Anyone who did not have an armband in areas other than the Square were not asked to leave. I know this because I stayed out in the park areas during this time. I never went to Liberty Square and nobody without a band was made to leave.

* Once the party "officially" began, the entire park was re-opened and I only saw 3 armband checkpoints the entire evening. If you didn't have a band, they were not calling security or anything, they simply would not let you in certain areas.

The only area I saw that they tried to keep regular guests from was the "west" side of the park. However, with only 1 person on the bridge from Main St to Liberty Square, about 90% of the people walked by without being checked, and the CM's didn't really seem all caught up in catching anyone either.

Other than those three points, I never saw one person checking bands.

I had a long sleeve shirt on that conceled my band and the ENTIRE night none of the 4 in our party were ever asked to show our bands, so while they may do a good job (I guess that's all relative), anyone could have been in the park and stayed in the park.

I am a serious amateur photographer, along with my brother in law, and we took our tripods and cameras (Nikon D200 now, Nikon D70s at the time) with us and made a point to be the last from the parks. We stayed until 1 1/2 hours after the party ended. We literally were among the last few cars in the parking lot. We got the last monorail out of the park, and got to ride in the front, since we were the only one on it.

I say that to say that, I have photos of Main St. with NOBODY on it, except CM's cleaning (I was surprised they let us stay). We got photos of fantasyland with not a single person in the photo.

Remember this is on the night of the party. Not one single person even in that situation asked to see our bands.

So, basically I can assure you, if people want to stay in the park, they will and they did. They were all over the park the night we saw.

Like I said, I disagree with your experience. I've been going to parties since 2000. Yes, I am familar with the old way (closed for 2 hours and the ONLY people in the park were eating in a restaurant and/or CMs).

Oh and now that thousands here read your post, I'm sure several of them will try and stay without party tickets and it will just make what you say you experienced even worse.

Thanks for all the input. I can't believe how quickly you all responded. I only posted last night!!! Thanks so much!!! I think we will try it out. We are able to get some free passes for the parks on the other days because we have relatives who work at the Disney parks so to spend the extra money on MVMCP tickets won't be too hard to budget for. Soooooooo excited to bring our 2,4 and 6 year olds!!!!

It's fine. Im sure that every experience can be different. It's actually very likely.

Anyways........about the comment that everyone else will do it.........well that's up to them. I am just stating the facts. Im not here to police everyone else's decisions. Not to mention........if it ever did get out of hand.......Disney would likely do more to control it. Technically, if they dont specifically state it's not allowed to be done, there's nothing wrong with it.

I personally dont have a problem with people staying. However the point was to give the OP an idea of what to expect and I actually wanted to be as honest as I could.

The rides are what matters and you must have a band to get on them. However, I simply wanted them to know that it's not like the park is empty.

However, I will say that the later it gets, the more empty it gets.

Also, I personally believe Disney people do read this site, and they can actually rely on boards like these to find their own loopholes, so, maybe it's not that bad a problem to mention it.

No, no one knows but last year they went on sale the end of April. Once they go on sale over the phone, it will take a couple of weeks for them to go on sale online, but they will be available online eventually. It just takes a bit longer for them to set it up.
