Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party Central 2005

So, the day the tickets went on sale for MVMCP I bought them for Friday, Dec 16th. I knew Friday would be a little more crowded with locals, etc but this just worked best with our schedule. This would put us in the MK for my sisters birthday, etc. I have LTT ressies for 5:05 that night, which is perfect.

Now I'm hearing that it's not "a little more crowded", it's unbearable. This is my parents and sister's first (and maybe only b/c of financial difficulties, etc) trip to the World and we're treating them .... so I'm doing everything I can for months in advance to make it the most magical trip possible. Are we going to be miserable?!

I just reworked some stuff to see about switching our MGM day with our MK day, and changing MVMCP tix to Thursday (if that's even do-able). The only downsides would be doing MK first (I always avoid that, don't ask why... no idea :)) and being in MGM on Cassi's bday. I don't think she'd really mind, so I thought that may be our best option. However, LTT has NO openings that evening until after 6:50. It seems to me we'd experience less by eating in the middle of the evening than we would being there on a jam-packed night.

Please either Help(!) with your expert advice or just reassure me that we will be able to experience all the things MVMCP has to offer, even if we are fighting crowds. I think we'll have ridden everything that day that we need to, so we can really use the party to take in the special events. It's just a LOT of money for us broke young grad students if it's not going to be worth it, and we were looking forward to the Party more than anything about the trip! :confused3 :guilty:

What I would do is first of all expect it to be really crowded. Not that it will be for sure, but kind of psych yourself up for it, and plan fun events other than popular rides.

The other thing is that from my experience at MVMCP, the heavy crowds are usually in Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. Maybe you could plan on hanging around Fronteirland, Adventureland and Liberty Square most of the night, and then go over to Fantasyland and Tomorrowland about 1 1/2 hours before the park closes. That's how we always do it and it has worked out well so far.

And then, I would (if you can stand it) skip the Christmas parade and go on the most popular rides during that time.

Although.....the parade is wonderful.....maybe you could skip the first one and go to the popular rides then.

ANOTHER idea, and this will depend upon your schedule and budget, is to go to the MVMCP two times. We always do this, and it is so much more relaxing knowing that if we don't make a certain ride, or see the parade, we'll make it at the next party.

Good Luck!! The park is so gorgeous during the party! You'll have a wonderful time! :wave2:

When is the schedule of events for the party available? Will we have to wait for the first night and does it change from night to night???

I have two ADRs for December 13th around 5:30. I decided it can't be very magical to enter the party from the BACK of the park, so we are doing Ohana instead, so we can enter at the front and walk down Main Street to start our night.

Not sure how these ADRs work but if anyone would like these times on that night, let me know and we can coordinate something. I have plenty of time to cancel and actually won't until I have made my 90 day out ADRs in a couple weeks.

Have to wait till the first night for other to report back. They do not release it before that. It barely changes from year to year and it does not change from night to night.

Hmmm, I remember someone here looking for that night (and a good ADR time like 5:30). Maybe start a thread with that in the subject line.

A previous poster said that the party on Dec 20th was sold out but I was able to buy them online today. Has anyone else bought them online for this date recently? I am nervous there was a mistake and I am going to get tickets for a different day. This is the only time we can go since we are not checking in until the 18th. I hope there are no problems.

Looks like we are going for 2! My honey agreed to adding 12/13 to the itinerary. Now we have the family night on 12/11 with all of her family from FL and a night just for us on 12/13! Now, I just have to order my tickets and pray for good weather. Maggie

Kerry34,
After reading your post I got really worried as I had not bought our tickets yet and we aren't getting to WDW until the 19th, buy I just called and was able to get tickets for the 20th, so apparently they aren't sold out and you should be all set.

Nana Sue

Thanks for the reassurance. I was probably being paranoid as I looked at my email confirmation about a million times, but I bought 7 tickets so its alot of money. I was afraid there was a mistake with the computer and I would have ended up getting tickets for another date. I hope the person who was told it was sold out sees this so they know to call back again.

Ok I have some questions for all the experts at this. How busy should I expect it to be on Nov 27? I know it's the first party and on a Sunday so I wonder if will be bad? Anyone gone to the first party and know what it's like? Another question, Can I plan on doing some rides during MVMCP or should I just plan on doing the PARTY that night and plan all rides and stuff on out other MK day? I'm hoping to get CRT for around 5 for dinner that night and not eating again just snacking. I believe I will still be herded(for want of a better word) into tomorowland after dinner because I think we will done around 6ish. Can we get our pictures done then before 7 or be first/close to first in line for 7 to get that out of the way? Do we get three copies of the same picture for our three tickets or just one which seems to be what the paper that comes with the tickets implies? WOW that really is alot of questions...
TIA

Grand Floridian Concierge got us Crystal Palace at 5:30pm for dinner before MVMCP on 12/1! Can't wait!

We are thinking of doing the 27th too! Any info on whether that will be a good night would be appreciated!

Also, when can I reserve LTT for that day? Is it still 90 days out which would be Monday Aug 29th or can I get ADR for then since I'm checking in Nov. 26? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Does anyone know the earliest time you can make a reservation for LTT for the character dinner? TIA

The advance MVMCP reservations seem to begin at 5:00. But a couple years ago we had a 5:05 reservation, and when we showed up at 5:00 it was clear they had begun serving dinner earlier -- I would guess 4:00. If you call at 90 days you can ask when dinner begins and probably get a reservation for that time.

We had a 4:45 seating this past Christmas. I am now reduced to living vicariously through all of you until 2006 -- so have fun!!

I read about the special MVMCP T-shirts and things and then found out they probably won't be available by the time I get to go *December 18th*..this is really disappointing, I really like special things like that. Anyone know if there is another way I might be able to get them?

when do they run out of those types of MVMCP type things at the parks? that seems so weird to not have certain things like that after a few of the parties. hmmm, now I wonder too. I want to buy tickets for sometime during my trip. I hope I can get a couple.

I am trying to put together a quick little trip for 12/16 - 12/20 or so. My options would be:

Dec 16th..Friday
Dec 18th...Sunday
Dec 20th...Tuesday

I will be driving up on Friday late afternoon and don't think I really want drive for 3 hours and then hit the party. What do you think would be the better day to go to the party Sunday or Tuesday. I can change my dates around since school will not be in session.

TIA
