Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party Central 2005

Tough decision, but maybe you could start looking at Deb Wills' FAQ at:

http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/h_cpfaq.htm

And then look at the menus here to see if everyone would like the foods:

http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm

Last year these were the restaurants available:

I really like the Le Cellier because of the steaks and the atmoshere.

I like Japan also because of the food and the entertainment of the chef cooking the food. I forget how many people fit at a table though.

I like Morroco because of the coucous and the steamed vegetables and chicken. The way that they prepare the food with spices and presentation is wonderful. Plenty of room here. Great atmosphere, a dancer that invites young children to dance with her.

With a smaller party, and if I had a chance to see Illuminations on the patio, I would choose the Rose and Crown.

So many choices.

I do know that if I buy a CP package this year it will be very early so that I could get the restaurant and time that I want.

Sometimes if you wait to long, either the restaurant is sold out or the times become the less desirable times to dine.

Have fun planning.

Sincerely, Ray

Hi Ray,

I notice you say in your post that if you would have a small group you would choose Rose & Crown. Don't they have outdoor tables for large groups? There will be 6 of us & we were hoping to do Rose & Crown & try for an outside table to watch Illuminations. If this is not possible, we'll probably do Le Cellier as well. You are such a wealth of information!!! Thank you!!!

My first post ever here. :wave2:

We are planning to go the party on Dec 13th (Tuesday). I haven't bought tickets yet (waiting for Monday--payday!). I did call today to try to book an ADR at LTT for that day. The CM was more than happy to do it, but the earliest we could get was 6:35. I think that's too late. My DS is 4 and may have stamina problems with the party even after the nap, so maybe a dinner break isn't a bad idea? Will we miss too much of the party? Should I keep the reservation? I think I may try 90 days out to get an earlier seating at CRT (DH wants to go there to see inside the castle), or try for Chef Mickey's and save LTT for when we go back to the MK Saturday evening. Any thoughts from the veterans? We have eaten at the Crystal Palace several times so were wanting to try something different. We want to eat at O'Hana one night, would this be a good night to do that and then go over to the party? We are staying at Shades of Green. :confused3

Hi, I hope this isn't too dumb of a question.......I am planning on not attending the MVMCP, but we are planning on being at the MK that day.

How late can I make a PS for dinner at the MK? Maybe this would be a better night to head over to Whispering Canyon or Concourse Steakhouse?

Thanks for any info

Julia

I've done that before. Once a Friday was sold out. I did this on a last minute thought, but if I were meeting with a group, or wanted a LLT ADR, I would probably order the MVMCP tickets and make the LTT ADR as early as possible before the prime times were all used up.

Sincerely, Ray

Hi, Julia. You can make them as late as you would like, but the only problem might be that the time that you want may be full. Most people will start making ADR at the 90 day mark. But you know, sometimes I have walked right up to the door, and the reservationist said she would try to let me in because of cancelations.

Good luck.

Hi marj70. If you look at my signature below, you will find a link to last years MVMCP Guidemap with all of the events. You could guesstamate how long it would take you to dine and when you might get out and see what events you might miss. Probably not many.

I think you will enjoy any of those restaurants. Chef Mickey would be great for your children. A lot of people that don't eat at CP or LTT, will eat at CM and Ohana before the MVMCP.

Good luck.

Hi, Jessica. Well, yes and no, I guess. If you enter the Rose and Crown Pub entrance and walk into the enclosed dining room there are many tables that can be put together.

If you walk straight to the out side their is a tiered patio. The main level has two and four seated tables under a covering but is like being on a covered porch.

If you continue to walk down some stairs to the prime lakeside patio there are two and four seated tables agains the lake and the same parallel to those against the wall. Non of these tables have a roof of any kind except for the table umbrellas.

If you back up back in the main indoor dining area and take the door to your left, their is another canapy covered porch with many tables and chairs.

And even further to the left is a nice tree shaded garden area and a rock wall with small two person tables that many bring four chairs together. In this area closer to the main building there are some larger tables and many people will bring these tables together.

I like seating next to the rock wall and watching Illuminations, too. But a lot of people have the same idea. You can order from Rose and Crown and have them bring the food out to this garden area or bring food from anywhere.

A lot of people are going to hope and get a table out on the small patio next to the lake. Good luck.

Sincerely, Ray

Ray, I really appreciate all of your work in copying the schedule. This has helped my planning HUGE! Thanks!

Another question: does anyone have a good touring plan for the party? When do they start taking photos, before 7? Any chance of having it done before our 6:35 LTT dinner? DS will only be 4, and has autism so we plan to avoid lines as much as humanly possible. Not worried about him falling asleep, if so we'll just switch off riding the rides. Disney is more for ME than him anyway! :) We do plan to get him a stroller for the entire trip, worked out great 2 years ago. Last question (for now): which of the shows are not to be missed? Is Mickey's Night Before Christmas thing a character type stage show? Would a 4 year old care?

Love this board, better than the rest!!

Marj (new here)

They do not start the pictures till 7:00p except in Tomorrowland. I believe that one opens up at 6:00p.

marj70.... I'd keep your later LTT reservation for now. Then at the 90-day mark, try to move it up. If no earlier times are available, you could do CP or the Castle (booked at the 90-day mark). We also thought about Ohana/Chef Mickey's/1900 Park Fare, but with 2 little kids and a stroller filled with all sorts of stuff, the idea of leaving just for dinner and doing another security check when we return didn't excite us.

From Ray's 2004 schedule information:" (Note: Fill out a card for every member in your family to get a picture for each ticket that you bought. Except for the pictures that you want, and you take a family picture, make out the other cards to the grandparents address or some other friend.)"

Can you explain a little more about this? Do we ask the cast member at the photo line for 3 cards (three of us in our family), fill out one card to our home and use two different addresses on the other cards, and then ask to have 2 additional pictures taken in addition to our one family photo? Can we request any arrangement of us for the three photos (that is to say, for example, one of all of us, one of my DS on his own, and one of me and my DH)? We attended MNSSHP last October and got one group photo of the three of us sent to our home, but I'm interested in taking advantage of having 3 photos taken -- I just don't want to seem like a jerk in the photo line that night or get strange looks from the cast member on duty. Thanks for any input on this!

A few have reported success with getting more then one pose but it's certainly not the norm. You are 'suppose' to have one pose and the quantity is based on the number of tickets you purchased. I believe the letter you get with your tickets even says "One souvenir photo".

You can certainly try but I think if everyone did this, the lines would be much longer.

Thanks so much -- I really don't EVER want to be the pushy, demanding person who is holding up the line wanting MORE -- that is so not who I am! I was curious about this whole thing, though, since I had seen it mentioned several times and really, really appreciate your answer. I think I will stay with what we did at MNCCHP -- one photo taken, one photo sent to us at home, and a good time had by all!

I hope I didn't come across as accusing you of being pushy or demanding!! Certainly not my intent! :goodvibes

You definitely don't sound pushy or like you're wanting to exploit the system. Quite the contrary, actually, since you're doing your homework ahead of time and trying to clarify the "rules."

That being said, since you paid for 3 tickets, you are entitled to 3 photos mailed out to you. Any of the grandparents interested in one of the other two pictures?

Have a great trip!

I'm confused about the same issue.
If I were to ask for 4 pictures, all with the same pose, for each ticketholder, could they all be mailed to the same address? A prior comment re different addresses threw me off.
Also, would we need to fill out 4 separate forms? Assume so.
Thanks!

You can have all 4 photos sent to one address (fill out one form) or 2, 3, or 4 addresses (fill out the number of forms you need).

If you want all 4 photos sent to one address, then you only fill out one form.

I had a party of 5 and one was my niece. We filled out 2 forms and had 3 sent to me and 2 sent to her.

No, I'm sorry -- I didn't mean to imply that I had taken your message the wrong way. I just meant that exactly for the reason you'd stated (lines would get awfully long!) that I'd go with the flow.

Thanks to everyone who has chimed in on this -- it all totally makes sense to me and I'm counting the days until our trip!

I've seen a lot of people on the boards here debating about whether or not to go -- usually because they've read trip reports on All Ears and are nervous (about crowds, about getting their money's worth). For anyone reading this and trying to decide, my advice (based on having attending MNSSHP last October) is that if you can afford the tickets, go to the party!
It's a special event, it's unlike being in MK at any other time, you will be sharing the park with other people BUT it will be fewer people than, say, on a regular afternoon at the park, and if you go in wanting and willing to have a good time then you really will have a good (no, great!) time.

Not sure if this has been asked already in this thread as I haven't read the whole thing.

What time are the parades and what time is Wishes during the Party. I also wanted to know , does anyone know what time is a good time to make ressies at the California Grill so you can view Wishes. I wanted to make a ressie for just my dh and I and surprise him with the fireworks, (he doesn't know you can see them from the Grill )

Thanks
