I know the people in the Midwest have it much worse than we do in Maryland, but it's still been pretty miserable weatherwise.

Hey where abouts in Maryland, I'm in Delaware! I'll tell you, I would like one good snow and then be done with it. It took my son two hours to get to work the other night with the sleet and ice (and it normally takes him 15 minutes).

Hey where abouts in Maryland, I'm in Delaware!

We're in Frederick County. I grew up in Philadelphia, though. Dh and I moved to Maryland about 16 years ago. As for this winter weather, I know we have nothing to complain about compared to some other parts of the country, but let's just say, I'm starting to understand why older folks move to the Sun Belt. Yesterday was a nightmare for anyone who had to leave the house. Poor dh. I'm glad the kids and I didn't have to leave except to get the mail and bring water to the chickens and collect eggs.

Is it the heights or the fear that the descend is like plummeting down a roller coaster hill? If it's the latter, that's not the case. The ascend and the descent are very smooth and enjoyable. I loved it. Did you ever dream that you were flying? This is as close as it get. Scuba diving and parasailing, I love them both.

That sounds awesome, but dh is not a fan of the water (he'll play in the beach with the kids), but he did not grow up going to the beach (like I did) so he'd rather 'enjoy' the beach. I'm thinking of the one boat tour and then relaxing on castaway cay (with floats and stuff) on the ADULTS beach!!!! NO kids to kick sand on you (not that I am against any of the kiddies, I've been there but this is a trip for the two of us!)

It is the fear of heights. Actually, I would say the fear of falling. I don't mind being high up as long as I am completely enclosed (like a plane or looking out the window or a skyscraper). However, even the act of looking down from a tall balcony will make me whoozy as will being on top of a step ladder. I have a fear of falling more than a I fear of heights I soppose.:confused3

I can relate to that. As you know, dh and I are going on this cruise without our children. Like you, when it's beach time, I'm heading straight for Serenity Bay. I have no use for the family beach and the parents can thank us for not taking up the much coveted beach chairs there.

Don't get me wrong, I like cruising with our kids and the clamor and sometimes chaos of all those families (including ours) on one ship doesn't even bother me. (Most of the time, I think it's amusing). We had a fantastic time on our last two cruises or we wouldn't be scrimping and saving to go again next year. YET, I wonder if a 4-day cruise without the kids equals, time-wise, a 7-day cruise with them. Our children, for instance, were 5, 8, and 10 the last time we cruised. I figure we spent the following amount of time on child-related tasks or activities in 7 days.

Checking in and out of the Club = 3 hours
Club/Lab "graduation = 2 hours
Hanging at the Slide or the pool = 6 hours
Character appearances = 7 hours
2 movies = 4 hours
Vegetable go-cart race = 2 hours
Golden Mickeys = 2 hours
Helping DD to the ladies' room = 2 hours
Waiting for kids to shower/dress = 4 hours
Longer breakfast times = 2 hours

That's about 33 hours or a little over 2 days of awake time. Therefore, a 4-day childless cruise is almost equal to a 7-day kids-included cruise. I guess I have too much time on my hands this afternoon if I'm sitting here figuring this out. :surfweb: Really, I don't, and it's time to get back to work. :laundy: :teacher: :car:

:rotfl: Love this!!!! Yea, I know even with us and our kids being older, with our trip in December, there were many other 'stops' or side trips that we wouldn't have done if just 'us'!!! I am glad you are getting to go away without the kids. I Love my children with all my heart, but honestly, sometimes, we need some alone time with our DH!!

Hello!! I'm so glad to see this thread alive and kicking! Keeps me looking forward to our cruise and glad that there are some nice people on it!!

I have always, always wanted to visit the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas (since I saw the Mary-Kate and Ashley movie Holiday in the Sun when I was younger ) so we are definitely going to go there! I am trying to persuade DBF to do the Aquaventure, but at $150pp it is very expensive for what essentially is a waterpark! We will probably do the Beach Excursion and see the Aquarium.

As for Castaway Cay, we will do the package, with the bikes, tubes and snorkelling. I would also love to do the parasailing (only if they don't dunk you!) but haven't decided yet!

We will probably go to the Rainforest Room on our day at sea, as we have passes that come with our Romance at Sea Package :)

I am so looking forward to the REAS Package! I am going to order the champagne breakfast in bed early in the morning of the Castaway Cay day, and eat it on the Verandah in our DCL robes whilst pulling into Castaway Cay - heaven!!

Hayley,

I am seriously thinking of adding this to our cruise. Just something else to make our anniversary more special!!

I was on another thread and found mention of a great site called passporter.com It seems it has a ton of information from what I gather. PJStevens, they even have a whole section on vow renewels. :thumbsup2 I just thought I would pass this little tid bit along to all of my fellow awesome cruisers. :)

Tink, have you ordered your Passporter yet? I bought one in anticipation of our first cruise, and it's a must have, in my opinion. Even though there is a lot of info on the net, it's piece of mind to have that book in hand. Don't laugh at me, but I kept it by my bedside and read it over nightly before our first cruise and a little less so before our second. Dh (who is sparing with compliments) gave me all the credit for how fantastically our first cruise went because of the time I spent with my nose in that book and on the Disboards.

I love the Passporter :teeth: I really want the DCL one but the postage costs are so high to the UK :( I got my WDW 2007 one on the UK Ebay.

I think the Romance at Sea Package would make a great addition to your cruise! I am so excited about it! I decided to add it since I wanted our first cruise together to be really romantic :teeth:

Thanks, I didn't even think of that, I've been saving all these sites for reference.

I just ordered this, thanks for the note about it. I had the land one for our trip this past year, but didn't get a chance. The new cruise book comes out next month.

Hayley,

Sorry postage is so high to send there. Maybe after the new one comes out, they'll start showing up on your ebay. I'm still thinking about the REAS package, trying to save that money and then put it on and pay for it right away. I really hope to do that.

I just ordered it today. The new one for 2008 comes out on 3/18
and I have my copy reserved! :cool1: I am such a planning nut! You might be led to believe I have a type A personality. :rolleyes1 :yay:

In other news, I figured with the new tax cut from the government I should get about $1200. Now do I use this for the cruise or for a new TV (we have been without one since the little one slung his toy pull along doggy into the last one :headache: ). I certainly couldn't do anything as mundane as a pay a bill. :rotfl: Ah, decisions decisions.

Tink,

:rotfl: I am sorry for the tv mishap. But I can certainly relate, why pay a bill (ot multiple bills) when you can put that money to something fun, like a CRUISE!!!!!
