Sorry Dawn, I was reading too fast and my mind did not process!!! It's a Friday for me, cause I'm done work in one hour!!! WOO HOO! Glad they shut down a puppy mill, they are so bad. My sis just adopted a pug that was rescued from a mill and she had a hard time getting her to walk outside on the grass, she was so use to be stuck in a cage. It was so sad, but she is sooooo cute (of course a pug is adorable, lol). Well Dawn, I keep working on you!

It is Friday for me too! :woohoo: I keep telling my friends if I get a pug....I could have Milo and Otis. :rotfl: The adoption fee is pretty expensive so we'll see. :cutie:

You can blame me. I mention we are having a quiet tropical season and the next day we have tropical storm Bertha! :headache:

yea, the adoption fee if pricey. but what you have to remember is that money is what goes to help care for those other dogs in the rescue. and i believe in most cases it's a tax deductable donation.

Oh Dawn, did you have bad weather today? It's been so nice (hot) but sunny up here, but we are due for rain on and off most of the weekend!

Oh, I wish I lived in the States, I would adopt :)

When we buy our own home we are definitely getting a dog from a rescue. DBF has a soft spot for dogs and one thing that makes him really mad is seeing a dog that has been abused. I sponsored a dog in his name as one of his Xmas presents at a rescue in the UK, his name is Chad and he's a little terrier is so cute!

Did you ever hear someone say they love babies as long as they are someone else's? That's me with dogs. I love other people's dogs. Warren's the same way. It's a good thing because if one of us wanted a dog and the other didn't, we'd have an "issue" to deal with. Unfortunately, we're not on the same page about cats. I want a couple cats and he hates cats. Any cat lovers here?

I'm glad that puppy mill has been shut down. I pray all those dogs are adopted to good homes.

Patty, our passports came a lot faster than the 6 weeks we were told it would take. How long were you told it would take for yours? Yes, I exercised today. A puny 6 laps in the pool was all I could handle for cardio, but I'll go do some ab exercises now before Warren gets home and wonders why we're not packed up and ready to go to PA.

Hayley, that's nice of you to make your American intern feel acknowledged. By the way, I like the English "Office" much better than the American version.

Yea, Monica, glad you got some laps in today. I MIGHT go tonight, but am not counting on it. Feeling lazy this evening.

We had a cat for years and it killed hubby when we had to put her down (but she couldn't stand anymore, she was OLD). He said we could never get another cat, cause one would never be like our old one. She use to like to sleep on his chest and even lick his chin.

I hate to get animals as I always get so upset when they die. Even my hamster, I was completely gutted when he went - towards the end he was really ill and had a huge lump on his side. He couldn't move around his cage at all, even to get food and water and it broke my heart to see him.

Monica - I haven't really seen American Office, I saw a bit and of what I can see the UK version is better :) I love Steve Carell though! However me and DBF LOVE LOVE LOVE Ricky Gervais who is David Brent in the UK version. His stand-up is SO funny. We went to see him do his 'Fame' show twice last year, it was that good, and at Christmas I wrote to him and asked him for a signed photo of himself for Els (Els is a massive fan of his) - not only did he send one, which I never thought he would, he signed it personally 'To Els, Cheers, RG'... when he opened it Xmas his eyes filled up and he loves it! Great to know that celebs can still be so nice!

OK That was TOTALLY OT! I apologise!

I have a bleeding heart when it comes to all animals and I would adopt them all if I could. It is always hard for me to turn one away. We have two big dogs and three cats (See Monica, I'm a cat lover too) and all of them are rescues. Our third cat is actually a stray that went from sitting at the edge of our property to him "asking" me to pet him today. That is a huge step considering he has never liked to be touched. I hope he likes me still after I get him neutered in a couple of weeks. ARC (animal rescue coalition) is doing it for free. If you sign up for animalattraction.com, ARC gets a dollar donated. Every dollar helps, right? :)

Patricia, the weather here hasn't been bad per se. We have had severe thunderstorms every day for weeks but that is nothing you wouldn't expect from FL. My eyes are turned to the Atlantic to see where tropical storm Bertha will end up. August is normally when things get really active. I just hope we miss all the action. I suppose things wouldn't be all bad if our itenerary was altered. At least we could say we had a unique cruise. :)

Hayley, for all you have done for your boyfriend and others, you really are a warm caring person. :flower3:

The weather here has been terrible. It has been over cast and cloudy for 2 weeks straight! Many many people I have talked to have algae in their pools because of it. We seemed to have cleared our pool. The lack of sun is really starting to get to me. We had a summer like this a few years back and it stunk then too. I'm looking forward to having my sunshine back soon.

We have 2 jack russels.(Zig and Zag) Honestly if it wasn't for my kids wanting a pet for 10 yrs I wouldn't have any. I'm not an amimal hater but, I just don't need them living in my house lol. I told the kids well if we are getting a pet then it is going to be the dog I like--hence the Jacks. IMO they are the best dogs :) They are super smart and loving. They are a small dog but, they act like a big dog. It's the perfect combo.

What part of FL do you live in? I live between Sarasota and Ft Myers. We had about 3 days without sun a few weeks back but now it is sunny in the morning and stormy all afternoon. Has been for weeks. I'm use to the 10 minute thunderstorm but these storms have litterally lasted from around 1pm to 8pm. My grass is growing at warp speed.

My two big dogs think they are small dogs......lap dogs to be exact. Does that count?

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY EVERYONE!!

Dawn,

that's so funny. why is it that BIG dogs think they are little and little dogs think they are big. My mom has a 4 pound 'rat dog' (I call her that, but she's a cute little white hairy prima dona) and she'd go up to the biggest dog when they were out walking barking, like you are on MY street! :rotfl:

Patricia, I use to have a shi tzu that was the same way. The funny part was that the big dogs would really back away from her. It worked out well until a Chow grabbed her by the neck one day and took off w/ her, shaking her like a rag doll. She ended up being ok sans lots of swelling and bruising but I can tell you she never once barked at a dog again.

I'm in Clermont. It's 40 mins west of Orlando. The sun came out today! We had nothing but clouds for 2 weeks straight--no lie. Before that it would be sunny until about noont then storm for a few hours. At least we had a few hours of sun though.

Our grass is green again but, of course having to mow 4 acres once a week is the down side lol.

ok, now I am totally biting my finger nails. According to passporter, and I think even the Disney literature, Pirate night is on the third night of the cruise. I just read a TR that said Pirate night was on the second night of the cruise and that is when I have Palo ressies for my mom and her boyfriend. :scared1: They also mentioned something about it being the 1st day at Castaway Cay so I'm hoping it was one of the special two stops at Castaway Cay. Anyway, I really hope that is the case and Pirate night will still be the third night. My mom will kill me if she misses Pirate night!:headache:

I read somewhere that the Pirate night is on the Castaway Cay night, which on our cruise is the third day (i think), so you are right in that it is the third night.

Thank you Patricia for calming my fears. :) I discovered too that the person that did that TR was on one of the sailings w/ two stops at castaway cay so I am sure that is why theirs was diffrent. Phew

Yea, Dawn, I think with the two stops (double dip) they go to Castaway Cay, then Nassau and then Castaway Cay again, so it sounds like Pirate night might be that first CC stop.

I thought I would throw out a tip/suggestion for those people, like me, that have never been anywhere before. If your planning on using your credit card while in Nassau, call your credit card company and let them know when you will be there. I read somewhere else (and I remember finding this out when I was suppose to go to London) that your company might freeze your transactions until they are sure your the one making them. Just a thought. :)

Also, I was on another website and came across some new tips I had not seen before. I wanted to share them w/ all of my fellow first timers :
"If you explore the islands on your own bathrooms are NOT plentiful and usually have someone there wanting a tip for you to use the bathroom.
Their idea of clean is different from ours so take a travel size seat covers and t- paper and hand sanitizer to be save. many bathrooms I have been in arnt well supplied. Best restrooms are in the Casinos nd they arnt the greatest.
also NO water fountains, so bring a bottle of water with you from the ship. It is cheaper than buying water on the islands. or bring your own from home."
"take small bills for the islands. many small shops dont have change."
"most shops who take credit cards, require a $20 minimum purchase."
