I'm planning on dressing up for MNSSH.

1) Is anyone planning to dress up for the whole day? Were planning to spend that whole day in MK.
2) Is anyone planning to dress up the whole day but going to a different park first?
3) Are you planning to go back to the room to get "dressed"?

4) Also, whats everyone going as?

I'm planning on wearing all white, with a big yellow circle on my stomach, and red sprinkled all over. I'll be wearing devil horns and carrying a pitchfork. I'll be the DEVILED EGG. :cool1: At least thats what I have planned so far.

5) Does anyone (WHO HAS DONE MNSSH BEFORE) have any ideas they tried that they HATED? (IE I went as a princess and I wish i hadnt because EVERYONE was a princess)

6) Do you have any personal stories about what DONT work?

My wife is still VERY undecided. She has almost finished a costume thats a mixture between "corpse bride" (one of my favorite movies!) and Elvira Mistress of the Dark.

My son is going as Sora off Disney's Kingdom Hearts.

lets get INPUT here! And lets PLEASE keep it nice! :goodvibes

One of my concerns too, is that "props" (IE pitchforks, wands, tiarras, capes, etc) will "get in the way" on rides. Anyone have any input on that?

We'll be at MGM during the first part of the day...we have an ADR at Sci-Fi. We'll probably only be there for a couple of hours. We'll head back to the resort to just hang out and rest up some before the party. Get dressed, and head over to MK early (probably around 5pm).

I'm going as a pirate and DH is wearing this gothic Victorian "suit" (very Haunted Mansion like). I have a pirate hat and he has a top hat, so I'll be interested in seeing how it all works out.

We're only going for a long weekend, so unfortunately the only MNSSHP is on our arrival day, 10/6. We have an early a.m. flight that day, so we have an ADR for a late lunch at 50's Prime Time, then back to our resort to rest before the party. We're staying at the CR, so we're just planning on walking over right before the party starts. I just ordered our costumes- I'm going to be Jane Jetson, and my DD14 is going to be judy Jetson :)

My dd, 13, and I will be on a mother/daughter trip for MNSSHP. She is going as Aurora...her last princess costume. I have a terrific Malificient costume, but it's very long, with a train, as wel as that glorious headpiece. Since it's all one piece, I'm a bit worried about the top part being way too hot. I'm belting it so I can hoist up the skirt..in fact, the skirt has side slits on it and with it hoisted up, it looks a bit vampyish!!! I'm going to pack it and see what the weather is like. If it's too hot/humid, I'll just wear my Malificient tee shirt. I'm leaving my 'raven on a stick' accessory at home...I can just see me lugging it around the MK...not a good idea!!

To the OP... Howdy neighbor  . We live in the Triad too!

Back on topic, we'll be at the 10/26 MNSSHP. We'll do AK that morning and get back to resort around 2PM. We'll arrive at MK around 6ish. (Ssssh.. don't tell the kids cuz they don't even know there is such a thing as MNSSHP :teeth: ) We're all just going to wear T-shirts that night -maybe our matching Incredible Ts. Either that or I'll go with my Big Bad Wolf T, and DW can wear here Maleficent T.

Going to AK in the am for Donald's Breakfastaurus, so I'll be wearing a Donald hat, a Donald t-shirt, a Donald watch and carrying my Donald key ring, so I'll be dressed as I am every day. Then to the resort about 4 to change into a pirate costume for an evening of (not so) fright.

I'd probably go back to the room to change. You'd be more comfortable in regular clothes in the morning, and a little break from the park might be refreshing if you plan on staying until midnight.

The deviled egg costume sounds clever, but I'd keep the props to an absolute minimum. You'll also be carrying a trick-or-treat bag and probably a camera. Think about the logistics of climbing in and out of rides with your props. If it'll work, that's great! If you think it'll be cumbersome, leave the pitchfork behind. Maybe your wife can go as another picnic item as that would be a cute theme! I've seen hot dog costumes in stores. : )

I am wearing a Halloween themed shirt. My ds will be a pirate and dd will be Tink. It sounds like there will be a lot of pirates this year.

We went as a family of pirates as far back as 3 years ago, but that was just in the park, not at the MNSSH. I agree, I think they'll be pirates EVERYWHERE! The whole Pirate thing is in excess right now. I was originally planning to go as a pirate, but to be completely honest, I dont want to spend the money to make myself look authentic!!!
I figured with my deviled egg idea I could wear white clothes in, then just pin on the yoke, horns, and maybe a tail when it begins. The "not clearing out the park" thread has me wanting to stay in the park rather than come back separate.

Im still unsure about everything. Hence this thread!

Im mainly hoping to get some input for what NOT to do from those who have been before, because this will be my first trip to the MNSSH.

Seeing as how it's still going to be hot when we go (Oct. 2) and my DH hates Halloween (I love Halloween :rotfl: ) and he refuses to wear a costume, I just ended up ordering the blue Mickey Hawaiian dress and men's shirt from Disneyshopping.com. I figure I'll throw on a couple of lei's and we'll look like tourists visiting Hawaii or something?!??!? :)

We are probably going to be wearing matching t-shirts - same design in different colors. My DH doesn't want to dress up, so this is probably the best we are going to do. LOL! We have ADR at CP for breakfast and might go back to the room and "rest" before we go back out. I made the ADR before we thought about going to MNSSHP.

We're boring!
DD2 - Belle
dd7 - Cinderella
DS5- Stitch

Me and DH will be the crazy parents following them in their first time at Disney overload!

We are arriving on an early flight on Sept 15-first MNSSHP day. I figure we will check in at CSR, tour the resort, head over to DTD-eat a free/huge sandwich at Earls, go back to the resort, swim, rest, maybe grab a bite to eat at Pepper Market, then head over to MK at around 5-6ish. DD and I are going at Diva vampires. DH is probably wearing his usual tshirt and shorts. LOL :rolleyes1

I'm going either as a pirate (yeah yeah...I know...generic...but I just finished my costume and absoulely love it) or as Belle with the big yellow ball gown. (also made myself)

I've worn the ballgown before to MNSSHP, complete with the gloves, cape, and 7 (yes 7) petticoats...it was early october so it was a bit warm, but once the sun set I was fine. I couldn't ride a coupla rides (Space Mtn) because of the skirt...but that was fine with me...I loved the pictures (all of which I lost when my harddrive crashed :(...that's why I might wear the dress again to try and re-do some of the pics)

This year, we will either be spending the day in the MK prior the party and just change at the park...(I can't wait to go through security with a duffel bag full of costume accesories for the 3-5 of us)...or we'll just arrive at MK in time for the party already in costume.
Just a note - Kids (under 9 is usually the rule, but I've noticed it to be flexible) are allowed (always) to wear costumes during the day. Adults, however can only wear costumes during MNSSHP.

I'd avoid any particularly large/heavy props. Just make sure you try on everything at home, and then figure out how you're going to carry your
prop(s), bags, cameras, kids..etc...
I think the most important thing though is to just be comfortable...I love dressing up (I'm 22) and had no problem wearing all the petticoats around all night, because it completed the look...But I know some of my friends would hate having to wear all that...

Also - (just remembered) Adults are not allowed to wear full face masks, and no one is allowed to wear anything that could obstruct their vision.

At our first MNSSHP in 2003, DH and I just wore matching Disney Halloween t-shirts. Then, last year at our second MNSSHP, we dressed up as pirates. We really enjoyed dressing up as the CMs really made over us. It seemed like they enjoyed all of the costumes on adults and kids. This year, DD, age 21, is going with us and nixed many of my costume ideas i.e. Fred, Wilma & Pebbles Flintstone; Skipper, Mary Anne, and Gilligan, Dukes of Hazzard characters, etc. She finally agreed to dress up as lifeguards so we all have red shorts, Lifeguard t-shirts, fanny packs & caps/visors, whistles, etc. It has been very warm at our previous two parties but if it turns cooler this year, we'll just wear long sleeve white t-shirts underneath and maybe windsuit pants. We like to ride the rides at the parties too as we have found the lines to be very, very short and our Lifeguard costumes won't be cumbersome!!!!

I think your deviled egg idea is very creative. My niece once dressed up for Halloween as a blooming idiot with artificial flowers on her hat and a sign on her shirt that said idiot.

We will be there for our first MNSSHP on 10/2. My son will be Jack Sparrow and DD will be ither Belle or Cinderella. Depends on what costume she wants to wear. We will probably have both there. My mom and I have Halloween T-shirts we will be wearing. We also have the same matching TShirts for the kids. If they get too hot or scratchy they will change into them.

To be honest, we dont celebrate Halloween as a holiday. Were only going because its Disney, and its something DISNEY that we havent done yet... and FOR THE CANDY!!!! But we figured it might be fun to dress up a bit. we dress up when its NOT the party, so of course wed do it for it.
Lotsa good ideas! Keep em coming! :thumbsup2
