A group of us are going in October and are considering g doing the not so scary Halloween. Our kids are older late teens and 20's. What are your thoughts on spending the money to do this?

I've been to MNSSHP and MVMCP more than once. The Christmas Party is a relative bore and I wouldn't go again. However, the Halloween Party is a blast. Great special characters and costumes, terrific music, awesome lighting effects, spooky and eerie in a family-friendly way. Fantastic parade (2 times per party) with some ghoulish creatures and lots of humor, too. Really great special fireworks, and tons of candy goodies. It really is a great party in the truest sense, and I look forward to going again this year. Your money would not be wasted on your group's kids or adults. They'll remember the party fun for a long time.

All of my crew has enjoyed the Halloween parties - from little bitty ones up to me, the old lady of the group at 56. ::yes::

First of all, worth is completely subjective. But, as you can see in my siggie we've been to 4 and we plan on attending again this year!
I think there is something for everyone: special character m&g, parades, dance parties, villain show, practically no waits for rides. The fireworks, Hallowishes, is spectacular.

We loved MNSSHP, but I think some of the value depends on whether you have a festive travel party! We have two teens and a 7-year-old and our teens had a ton of fun planning costumes. (They are huge Disney fans and really into musical theater.) Our oldest was Hatter, our middle and youngest were the tweedles, and I wore a blue athleta dress that I already owned with a white apron, black mary janes and a black headband. (Our teens initially said that was NOT a real costume, just to give you and idea of their commitment to getting into the festivities!) They were also very interested in the parade and the villains show and happy to just be walking around, doing the treat stops and enjoying the atmosphere. Not so much into the character meet and greets. In any event, they appreciate a good theme and a festive party, so it was a huge hit for them and they would love to return. On the other hand, for those who really enjoy rides, but are not as into the general atmosphere/shows/parade/theming, it may not have the same value.

I love the Halloween party but I will also add that it is my favorite holiday. For MNSSHP we dress up and actually go trick or treating. We love the fireworks and the special parade. Every MNSSHP we went to had very low crowd levels so most rides were under 20 minute waits with many being walk-on.

As far as whether it is worth it for your family, that depends. Would your family enjoy these activities? Will you regret paying $$$ for the tickets if you think the party is only so so? There are a lot of families who fit into this category. I typically always recommend trying it once so you get to experience it.

It's our must-do, but I always tell people to research it. If it doesn't look like you're thing, you might consider it a waste of money. My kids love it.

We are all adults. We go more than once each year. We dress in costume. We love everything about it including the shorter lines. We've had trips where this is our only Magic Kingdom time and manage to cover most the rides.

We are planning our fall trip around MNSSHP and F&W! Love both, in fact it's our favourite time of year to visit!

My fiance and I are 25 and 24 and have gone 4 years straight now and we love it, we plan on going again this year and the following years to come. Definitely worth it!!

Can someone answer this for me? If you don't have a park hopper, but have tickets to the parade, does your park day have to be at MK?

I think you meant "tickets to the party". The MNSSHP party and MVMCP party are separate tickets and don't involve your regular tickets. So you can use your regular tickets at any of the 4 parks on the day of the party, then attend the party with your separate party ticket. No Park Hopping involved. Entry to the party is allowed starting at 4pm.
