We've been in October three times before but never done MNSSHP, so have decided to buy tickets for mid-month date and hope to have a great time. The thought of staying in MK to midnight was just too much to resist!

Just one question is nagging me - I sense that our US friends really go to town on the dressing up for Halloween. If we don't, are we gonna feel left out or if we do, do we risk feeling very stupid???? :confused3

Any personal experience/feedback appreciated.

FYI, we are 40-ish with DS who will be 11 by then. ::MickeyMo

hi
we did mnsshp last october and we had a great time
we are not big on dressing up and not once did we feel out of place, yes there are lots of people that dress up and it was great to see all the costumes :)

Hi uktigger!

Did you eat in the park on the night of the party? We have booked for an early evening PS at Tony's about an hour before the party starts, but understand that this restaurant being open is a new one for Disney as they mostly do Character Meals only at Crystal Palace and Liberty Tree Tavern? ::MickeyMo

My family and I went to the halloween Party last October and it was a trip highlight, we were'nt in costume but plenty were. Definatley remember to have your group photo taken, it had already been delivered to my home by the time I arrived home.

Hi

We are another family that went to MNSSHP and didn't dress up as such:) We all wore maching T'shirts (Haunted Manison ones;)) we actually got loads of compliments.
Saved having to look round for costumes and we can wear them back home.
I'm sure you'll have fun whether you go fancy dress or not.
Do I hear right that the photo is free?
Yes it is..:)

hi

we got the costumes from k-mart,they were loads and loads there!very cheap as well!
yep, trick or treatin everywhere in the park and a free complementary photo, which was already here when we arrived home.
there were lots of people not dressed up. :earsboy:

We've done MNSSHP a few times now and it is a brilliant evening.

Get to MK early to avoid the crowds arriving for 7pm start (it's a ticket-only event so there is a maximum number of people allowed, usually around the 20,000 mark - although this seems a lot, it's not really when you compare to usual crowds in the park). You will be given a wristband to wear to show you are there for the party. You will then be told to go to a specific land (we had to go to tomorrowland last time, brilliant riding space moutain with no queues!).

You will be given a trick or treat bag which you WILL fill with goodies. All around the park are huge green inflatable "pumpkins" - these show where the CMs are dishing out their candy. There are usually characters in each area (apart from when the parades are on which are well worth watching - especially the beginning when the headless horseman starts it off).

One of the most popular attractions is (naturally ;) ) Haunted Mansion and the Qs can be large for this, so if this is a deffo on your list to do, get over there first.

There are a number of photo sessions around the park - and yes, they're free and the prints arrive back home within about 10 - 14 days. Ask for one copy for each of your party, you each get one then. It has a nice border on it with the date, so a very nice keapsake.

As for dressing up - whatever you want to do. I would say 50% of people dress up, probably 30% really going to town, especially the little children. If you don't feel like dressing up, that's really not a problem. Some families and large groups don't wear fancy dress as such, but all have on the same t-shirt with logos or family names - they look really good.

Try WalMarts of KMart - fabulous costumes for around $15-20 for adults, $10 or so for kids, all depending one what you choose. There is loads of choice. Half the fun is looking at all the halloween stuff in the shops - bet you won't be able to NOT come home with some.

We have tended to eat before heading to MNSSP, around 4pm, then headed straight over to MK. But around 9.30 - 10pm we have to have our traditional Cosmic Ray's chicken sandwich - just wouldn't be the same without having one!

I am really going to miss not doing MNSSHP this year since we're going in August - have a wonderful time :cheer2:

we are doing mnsshp this year for the 1st time :cheer2: i am planning on the kids wearing fancy dress but nor me and dh :)

We are all dressing up this year! As we are staying at the Polynesian, we only have a short journey in our "gear", so even DH has said he will join in! Havent decided on the "theme" yet, though DD wants us all to be ghosts!

Allie - we stayed at the Poly last year and took the monorail over - it was superb! We met a family dressed as Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto (mum, dad 2 kids and granny).

It was lovely coming back to the Poly after midnight too - we've stayed onsite before but never on a monorail resort so it was cool :cool1:

We're staying at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge and will be going as Pirates (again) on 2nd October unless we can think of something else and get the costumes organised - it's just me (44 whilst we're there :teeth: ) and DW (40 :rolleyes1 ). Yes, the photo is free, but the first year we went the photograph never arrived - last year it arrived a few days after we got home :confused3 .

Most of the kids will be dressed up and a fair proportion of the adults will be as well, but not enough to make you feel left out if you're not.

Hi
We're there for the 7th Oct with a PS at LTT for 6pm. DH and myself probably won't dress up but thinking that DS nearly 3 when we go will probably like to dress up as WOODY. Will be taking his pumpkin torch too just for effect really.
Watch the queues for the free photo. Last year we waited over half an hour at MVMCP for the photo and it wasn't that great quality but the memento was a nice idea.
Have a great time ::MinnieMo

We had seating at LTT at 5.15pm - when we were finished you get herded over to Tomorrowland. We joined at really long queue in the Timekeeper building - it was OK as we had half an hour before the start of MNSSHP. It took roughly the 30minutes to get the photo done. If you were pushed for time though, later in the evening we noticed other locations advertising the free photos with no queue/ little queue at all. One good location was opposite Jungle Cruise.

:thewave: We are going again this October and we'll wait to have our photo taken later in the evening even though we're at LTT at 5.15pm again!

We did notice that many people were not dressed up. There were a lot of people in just Halloween themed t-shirts, which might be a good idea. I bought an outfit that didn't arrive in time, which I bought from e-Bay (in America). Might be a good idea to search for tees and stuff on e-Bay now - they go for much more closer to the time!!

Thanks for all the ideas guys - have committed to three tickets for Sunday October 16th plus PS (or is that AR?) for Tony's. Watching the post daily from now as the next 110 days or so will fly by as soon as I have tickets in our hands:earboy2:

I love the idea of all of us wearing the same t-shirts with logo and in appropriate seasonal colours - green/orange perhaps? Seen some great home-designed logo's over on the theme partk strategies board but I am not so creative......

Any budding t-shirt designers out there? ::MickeyMo

I don't know if this will help you or not, but there is a website you can use to design your own (personalized) T Shirts - you can add Disney characters, names etc. I think it is www.Zazzle.com ?

Extra special service from WDW or what?!?

Ordered tickets after midday on Saturday and DHL deliver them yesterday...the next 111 days are gonna pass so much faster I sense? ::MickeyMo
