Mickeys not so scary halloween party

Can someone tell me if it is worth the extra money or not? We will be there on tue/wed Oct 11-12.

We were staying on site so we could get in early/stay late, which we aren't staying on a day they are doing that. On that Tuesday MK will actually close at 7pm! Unless you have a ticket to the party. It would be an extra $180.00 for me and the girls (14 and 8) to attend the party. That is alot of money for a bunch of candy we don't need.

I don't mean to sound ugly, but that is alot of money. Is it really worth it? That is almost the price of another whole day at one of the parks.

To me it is soooooo worth it. We do either Halloween or Christmas every year. I love the extra character sightings, walking on to rides with no lines, the parade is AWESOME. 6 of us are going Oct. 7 so it was EXPENSIVE, still I would be sad if we didn't go. So YES, spend the extra money. The way I figure it we have already spent so much what's a few hundred more. LOL

We will be there 10/31. We have been several times. I think it is better than MVMCP. The vibe is over the top, parade is awesome with characters dressed for Halloween....I mean they even have the REAL Headless Horseman to start the parades. You have to decide if Halloween is worth it to you. There lots of little extras around the parks...but it is $180 bucks.

You are on property, Tuesday nite is one of the best nights of the week to go--school night for locals, then parks are closing earlier, kids get to wear their costumes with thousands of other people. If you will not have another opportunity to go to MNSSHP--absolutely I think it is awesome. They have decorations flying around on the buildings, Villians dance mix-n-mingle, and Hallowishes.

Univesal has Horror Nights which looks actually terrifying---Disney, NOT SO SCARY...I think both girls will love it. The crowd is really into the evening

You have to ask if Disney is really worth it, the cost, etc. This is something they do special each year and do it very well. If you want to go to an amuzement park focused on Halloween for the family--it doesn't get any better--truly. If you had moral or religious objections then I could see you skipping it--and possibly WWOHP because he is a wizard , who does magic. So you know your girls best and everyone has their own opinion. THere isn't a wrong answer.

Like I said...for a Halloween evening in an amusement park--it is fantastic.

Don't think of it as just candy. The halloween party is fun, the parade and characters are really fun. You can go to another park earlier in the day, then do MK at night. You will be able to go on more rides since the park is only open to special ticket holders.

I would do it. It's a blast!

We had 10 in our party on Halloween, ages 6 to 60, and EVERYONE loved it!! If you can afford it, I would DEFINITELY go.

It's funny, the MNSSHP is one of the reasons we looove to go in October! (Note: Halloween is not even one of my favorite holidays, either! And DH is not a Disneyphile, but really enjoys it as much as I do. )

The fireworks are spectacular, the rides at the MK are usually walk-in, and you would not believe the metamorphosis of the park. It is really cool. I recommend it to all my friends as a must-do event. Make sure to catch the parade (at least once - there are two times for it) and be early to see the Horseman. One of the best places to see him is by the bridge going from Liberty Square.

Hope you get a chance to go this time - if not, I would definitely look into it for next time! Have a magical vacation!!

it is absolutely a MUST DO!!! we love it, this is the first year in several we haven't gone in the fall, and our annual fall trips are designed around being in the World for MNSSHP

MNSSHP is a must do for us as well! Being at that party is my FAVORITE disney activity of all time!! I love the music (we listen to the Boo to You sound track year round in our car!), the shows, the fireworks, the parade, the villian characters that are out - all of it! The trick or treating is really secondary to that stuff for us (although we still never leave empty handed!).

We have all found ways to get in the spirit and dress up without REALLY dressing up - first year we all wore orange shirts and olive green shorts to look like pumpkins in the pumpkin patch, the second year, we wore hawaiian shirts and lei's, and this year there are 6 of us, so we are dressing up as a rainbow - each wearing a different color polo shirt.

I highly recommend this night despite the price..go to the second parade and get lots of rides or characters (like Mickey/Minnie dressed for halloween) in during the first parade. MK is usually having really low crowds on party days as well. We usually try to get there for rope drop, get through 10 rides or so and head back to our hotel around 12:30..then take a rest and head back to the parks between 4-5 for the night.

+1 on listening to Boo to You the whole year!! It's amazing! If it works in your budget, then, by all means, do it. Love MNSSHP!

If you like seeing characters, then this is a great event. The Experiment 626 dance party in Tomorrowland is hilarious fun. Last year Stitch, Chip & Dale, and Goofy were doing some serious dancing, DJ host and all. Admission was worth it just for that alone. Kids were dancing side by side with the characters. I think there's another character dance party in Frontierland with Woody, etc. Very silly and fun.

FYI: the MNSSHP ticket allows you to enter the park at 4pm WITHOUT using a normal park admission ticket and the party goes until 12pm (approximately 8hrs).

So, we are going to go to a water park in the morning, go back to the hotel around noon, take a nap and get ready for the party.

DW and I go to it every time we're down there (we always schedule our trips in September). Honestly, we skip most of the festivities. The only thing we really like is the shorter lines and we feel that alone is worth the extra money. I remember in '08 we were on BTM and when we got back to the station the queue was completely empty, so they let us go again without even exiting the cars. If you're interested in the parades or HalloWishes, that's even more reason to go.

We've done it once, we're 2 old adults and had our daughter and son in law along too.....it was different, something to see and experience but tended to be crowded....that is alot of money for anyone....if you're not trick or treating you're doing the attractions and vise versa....can't do both...

We took a break during the day to stay up later and have the stamina to tour till closing....but never made it....and with the mass exiting now without the monorail and everyone rushing to a bus or boat.....leaving early to bypass that mess sort of negates what you paid to stay the whole time...

I mean if you've never done it.....it's different and something to see....we've done it once and don't care to repeat it for the price....

It is DEFINITELY worth the money!! All of our group said that it was the best part of the trip! (no kids in our group, but kids at heart for sure!)

We arrived at 6pm, checked out the times guide & everything we wanted to do. Managed to meet all the villians we wanted, hung out with the Mad Hatter twice, rode some rides, hit up both dance parties. 3 villian shows, fireworks, and the 2nd parade. Save trick or treating for the end, when they'll give you most candy and you dont have to lug it around all day.

SO WORTH IT!!

Went in 2009 and it was fun and parade and fireworks awesome BUT is a lot of money for no more candy than we got. was last minute thing so never saved the big $5 bucks by buying early and yes it is a lot of $$$ on top of a day ticket. and this year we noticed the bags they gave out small gift bag size like maybe 11 inches long and 6 inches wide. we were leaving as had ate dinner and heard one guy say he did not need one of their bags as he had his own and it was huge and CM told him NO cannot do that. so not sure what happened as CM'S all hussling all out that had not paid for the MNSHP. so is fun and lots of people dress up so we watched them going in and then again coming back into the resort we were in. some really go all out with costumes. it was fun and we tried it once but $$$ is a lot

We have been to MNSSHP twice (in previous years) and will go again on Monday night (10/10). We have always had a great time, as it's fun to dress up in costume, be in the park after dark, see all the decorations, etc. There are some wonderful things about MNSSHP, the best of which USED to be the low crowds, as they capacity controlled the park to, I believe, 10,000 guests, which is a drop in the bucket for MK. There are villain characters out that you usually don't see elsewhere, the chance to trick-or-treat, a wonderful Halloween-themed parade and fireworks show, and great atmosphere.

HOWEVER... this year I am hearing not-so-terrific things about this party. The crowds seem to be out of control, as capacity for the party has been increased to 25,000 (from what I've read) and the CMs aren't being particularly anal about escorting non-party guests out of the park. (they used to entirely close and empty the park, then re-open for the party only) The lines for character meet-n-greets are anywhere from 30 mins to two hours, and I guess the trick-or-treating trails are equally crowded. Also, the monorails don't run at the end of the party, so all offsite guests must take the overly-crowded ferry boats back to the TTC to get their cars... and I hear it's a madhouse.

I am trying to remain optimistic about our three-ticket purchase for MNSSHP on 10/10, especially as we are there mostly to go on the rides, not to meet characters or get candy. However, many are reporting being very disappointed by this party this year... so good luck if you decide to go. In all honesty, if I'd known about the crowds and confusion at MNSSHP this year, I think I would have purchased park hoppers instead of party tickets and completely changed our touring plan, skipping MNSSHP entirely and doing AK and MK (open to onsite guests until 2 or 3am) on Sunday instead of Monday. However, it is what it is, and we'll see what happens.

MNSSHP is fantastic! We have been to 15 parties and just love it. You get HANDFULS of candy - not just one piece and they are individually wrapped so with the allergies, you can pick out the candy you cannot give the kids. There is everything from the snack size chocolate candy bars to hard candies from name brand companies.

We've done it twice and love it. First time about 7 years ago and second time last year. We do not do it for the candy (although we did get quite alot). We did it for the special parades, fireworks, shows and being able to get dressed up and visit the MK. We had such a great time getting dressed up (me, my DH and my DSS (stepson) who is 22). We had loads of fun taking in the sights. Go into it with an open mind, dress up and have fun - we were able to ride some rides also but had the most fun just experiencing the magic that is Disney.
