Tell me all about MNSSHP. We have been to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party three times but never Halloween. How do they compare (other than the obvious)? We have tickets for the September 22 Party. What rides, shops, and restaurants are open?

All the rides are open, I believe all of the shops and LTT, Plaza, Crystal Palace, Pecos bills, and more are open.

The party is alot of fun. The characters are all in costume, candy is plentiful, great parade, tons of people in costume which leads to a great atmosphere.

My only complaint was lack of decorations.

We have attended MNSSHP for the last 5 years. Have never been to MVMCP (we will be going for our first time this year) so I can't compare but I can tell you what is offered. Instead of hot chocolate and cookies you have trick or treating locations. Characters are in costumes. Most children and a lot of adults are in costumes. Special fireworks, parade and dance parties.

Not ALL the rides or restaurants are open. I pulled out my brochures from the past parties. Here is what rides were NOT open:
Shrunken Ned's Jungle Boats
Tom Sawyer Island
Enchanted Tiki Room
Hall of Presidents
Jungle Cruise

In the past the Liberty Square Riverboat had special things going on but last year was not open.

I have the list of restaurants if you want them.

As hockey mom stated there are not a lot of decorations, however, it is the only time you will see any of the parks decorated for Halloween.

Magicaldisney, your post reminded me of a funny...We were at mnsshp in 10/05. Maybe they just hadn't shut down Jungle Cruise yet but we did ride during MNSSHP.

What was funny is that the crew from Gilligan's Island got on the boat with us---Skipper, Gilligan, Ginger and Mary Ann. (Great costumes). We all made jokes about being unsure whether we wanted to get into the boat with them!

Personally, I liked MNSSHP much better than MVMCP. I thought the decorations were pretty good and the music pumped in was great! Boo to you parade and Hallowishes blew the Christmas party's away.
Trick or treating was a great time, and seeing other people in costumes was fun, especially the characters!

Have a good time, you will enjoy it!

Thanks everyone. Does every one wear costumes? Do they take portraits like they do for Mickey's Christmas?

Lots of people wear costumes! You do have to remember that it still is quite warm in September, my family will be going as Steeler fans, not to far from the truth, but its still a cool costume.

They do take photos, up until this year they were free, but now they will have a photopass photographer there and you have to purchase them

I posted this in another thread....

Not all the rides are open, here is a list from last year's MNSSHP:
Main St.: Casey's, Plaza Ice cream Parlor, Main St. Bakery, Tony's Town Square Resturant

Adventureland: Swiss Family Tree House, POTC, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

Frontierland: SM, Country Bear Jamboree, BTMRR FOOD: Pecos Bill, Westward Ho, Turkey Leg Place.

Liberty Square: Haunted Mansion, FOOD: LTT, Sleepy Hollow

Fantasy Land: Peter Pan's Flight, Cinderella Golden Carousel, Dumbo, Philharmagic, Snow White Scary Adventures, Winnie the Pooh, Mad Tea Party, IASW FOOD: Mrs. Pott's Cupboard

Tommorowland: Tommorow Land Indy Speedway, SM, AO, BLSRS, TTA, SGA FOOD: Cosmic Ray's, Lunching Pad, Auntie Gravity's

Toontown: The Barnstormer

Hope this helps!

My only complaint about it was the park actually seemed BUSIER during the MNSSHP than earlier in the day.

It was awesome to get pix with the characters in costumes though!!!

That's too funny!! :rotfl2:

I've always thought that the group themed costumes are the greatest. We've seen so many and they've all been wonderful.
