We will be at WDW in a few weeks and they will be doing the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. It sounds really cool, but I saw the $35.00 price tag for adults. Not that I mind paying it, but if it's something I decide to do, I want to make sure it's worth it. Is there anyone out there who's done it and can give me their opinion??? Any info would be great.

19 days until we see the Mouse!!!

I was just told about this from a friend who is going in mid-September. She said she was told the characters pass out full-sized candy bars and there is great fireworks.

I came to this board for other opinions so I can decide if it is worth it....... so looking forward to reading all the replies!!!!

I am also wondering the same thing :confused3 We attended the Christmas party this past Christmas and it wa GREAT!!

We went last year (mom, dad, 2 kids). It was soo much fun. We really debated whether to spend the extra cash on this, but it was so worth it. We never did see any full size candy bars. The kids did get candy, but we get more in our neighborhood at home. Here's what we found to be soo much fun:

1. The decorations. They totally transform the park with different lighting, etc. It's just soo cool.
2. The parade. It's Halloween themed with a headless horseman. It's one of the best parades I've seen.
3. The free photo - it's included in the price. When I saw it on the list of things included, I could have cared less. I almost didn't get in line when we passed by one of the photo locations. We stopped, got our picture taken, and they send it to you when you get home. It's hanging on a board in our kitchen. It's just a great memory.
4. The rides. For some reason, the rides just seem a little more fun in the dark. The kids loved being up way past their bedtime. Splash mountain is so cool in the dark. Our favorite rides were open and the lines were reasonable.
5. The candy. There are floating illuminated pumpkins throughout the park. Where there is a pumpkin, there is candy.
6. The costumes. It was fun seeing the families that dressed in a theme. It was also fun seeing the kids dressed in their costumes. Some folks were really original.

I could go on and on. It's well worth the money. I hope you decide to go.

The MMNSCHP was the best time I've ever had in MK. The headless horseman in the parade was awesome! A headless horseman. On a real horse. Incredible! We went in 2002 or 2003 (I can't remember). There were free facepainting booths set up. Lots of little princesses running through the parks. Not so many people. And it was amazing how much decorating was accomplished between closing at 6 and reopening for the halloween party.
My favorite memory of being in MK with the kids was DD2 dressed as Tinkerbell and Cinderella held her for her picture with DD6. As we were leaving, DD2's shoe fell off. Cinderella picked it up and handed it to me. I said, "oh sorry about that." Cinderella said, "don't worry. It happens to the best of us."
I would go again in a minute. It is absolutely worth the $35 ticket price.

I agree! It really is alot of fun! The parade and fireworks were awesome!

There are two things I want to point out.... Apparently there is no free photo this year. The rumor is that it will be a 50% off photopass for either a picture from that night or all pictures from that night (? - don't know which).

The second is the characters do not hand out candy at all. The candy is handed out by CMs and there are not any full size bars. That said there is TONS of candy and it is so much fun!!

When we went last year I would say maybe 40% of the adults were dressed up. It really was a lot of fun dressing up. My twins were Sleeping Beauty and Belle, I was Cinderalla and my husband was Prince Charming. Everywhere we went the CM's were calling us the Royal Family. The girls LOVED that we dressed up - I think it made it twice as much fun for them!!

We went in 2002 and I was a little bit cautious because of the price. But it was great!!! They transform the park, change the lighting, parades, added touches to the rides, limited crowds, most of the rides are open ... did I mention they hand everyone a trick or treat bag and then gave out decent treats. For the amount of time the park is open for this event and the ticket cost it is well worth it.

We are going back down this fall and have already bought the tickets. As far as costumes mostly all the children had costumes and many adults did have them on as well. pirate: If you get a chance to go to this the kids will love it and it is not a bad treat for the parents as well.

I would love to get down to WDW for one of the Holiday events they have.

:thumbsup2 were going on the first night in Sept. we love halloween and figured we couldn't miss this party!

We're heading to Disney in a few weeks :thumbsup2 and we're going to MNSSHP for the 5th or 6th time. We love it. The first few times we only had my oldest DS now 13 and mostly went on the rides but now that we have 3 more kids, DD4, DS turning 3 on our vacation! and DS1 we'll be spending more time trick or treating, meeting characters and going to the shows. It's amazing how they transform MK into the Halloween party and I agree, the Headless Horseman is awesome! I thought the parade was a little scary for DD, then only 18 mo, but now that's she's older I'm sure she'll love it!

We've been once and I would say it is definately something to do at least once.It was a lot of fun. We'll be there when they have the first one in Sept. but I just can't get into halloween this early so we aren't planning on going.

I agree that MNSSHP is awesome! I went for the first time last year, just my husband and I and we loved it! There are NO lines for the rides and the park stays open til midnight!!!! :yay:

Do many parents dress up or mostly children??

Mostly the kids, but some parents do dress up. If you are dressing up becareful not to wear a mask. I think I heard Disney is strict with the adults wearing a mask. I'm not saying you were planning on it but just in case.

The party was great. I was surprised to see my boys made it that late. We left a little before midnight. The decorations and candy were tremendous. The lines were light and we got to do most everything. Plan an early day to get home to rest up and a late morning. I loved it and we're going to the Christmas party this year. Our kids are troopers when it comes to these types of things. So if your kids like parties and hanging out at night then, it is well worth the fun.

The Haunted Mansion is a blast to see at night.

What awesome pictures everyone! I have also been wondering if the admission price is worth it. We are going in October 2007, and we have never been this time of year before. It looks like a blast! I have two DS 9 and 6(they will be 10 and 7 at the time of MNSSHP next year). I think they will love it!!! :sunny:

We went to MNSSHP in 2004 and LOVED it. My dd (2 at the time, 4 now) and my neice dressed as princesses princess: but us grown-ups didn't. I really regretted it afterward. :confused3 If you can, you really should dress up. It adds to the fun of it all. I don't care a thing about candy and didn't really stress trying to get alot of it - if we saw one of the big blown-up pumpkins, we might stop and get some, but we didn't go out of our way to collect as much as we could. I think I threw it all away anyway. The parade is my favorite parade of ANY I've ever seen there. I videoed the whole thing and I could sit and watch it over and over. The music is great and the costumes are incredible. I LOVED it. There's one thing we missed that year that I DON'T want to miss this time - the picture. I know someone said they're not doing it the same way this year, so I'll be "all ears" :earsgirl: to hear what they are going to do. I never did see a place to get our picture made last time. If its like always, can someone tell me where that is? I'm also going to make it more of a priority to get good seats to see the fireworks. Last time we were on the run and we'd just look up every now and then to check them out. This time I really want to take it all in. I can tell you that even though the party is over at midnight, we were still riding rides far beyond that. We didn't get out in the parking lot until 1 am, and there was plenty to do and see. Total exhaustion - but SO much FUN!!!! party:

my little girl is 4 1/2 and she will tell you I want to go to Disney just not at Halloween.. or to that party.. she just didn't like it being so dark and all the disney villian music playing... I thought it was set up very nice...

The part we liked the best is we met Snow White and all 7 dwarfs, Mickey as a scarecrow, Tigger and Pooh were dressed, Donald as a pumpkin and I think we met JOJO and Einsteins.. too.. I heard Tarzan and Jane was there but we missed it.

Have fun!

i went to walt disney world for halloween and the party parade and fireworks are awesome i loved it the parade was awesome i was jasmine and i got alot of candy it was fantastic :thumbsup2  :teeth: :) :sunny: :bitelip: i want to go again during halloween and i hope we are next year :woohoo:

If you check out the Theme Park board there are sevearl posts regarding this years party.

We were there on 9/22 and had a great time - going back on 10/12 (we live in Orlando)

You can see my pics by clicking on the link in the signature line.

yes, yes you ahve to go if you have the chance! It was so much fun last year and we did almost the entire park in that one night. We hit eveyr major atraction but did not stop to see the parade unfotunately. This december I already told my DH that we are watching parades and doing the rides. We only saw one of the fireworks displays last year and that was Illuminations. My Dh hasn't stopped talking about how awesome they were so I'm going to show him that all the stuff is that amazing, not just the rides.

Anyways, back on topic. I want to go to a MNSSHP again just cuz it was so much fun. I am going to MVMCP this year and I know it will be just as wonderful!

Oh, and last year we had kids ages 2, 4, 8, and 11. we also had a 1 yr old with us and they all loved it. I brought lots of glow bracelets for whenever it got dark.
