Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party Central 2004!!!!!! =0)

After reading this thread I've actually managed to convince dh to WDW for Halloween!! :Pinkbounc
We would like to go Halloween night so I desperately want to order the tickets. But I have a bit of a dilemma... We are leaving in two weeks for California and my father is accompanying us, my mother passed away earlier this year - so we thought we could all use a little Disney magic. I'm afraid to even bring up a trip in the fall before we go on this one (my father already thinks I'm crazy). Since we are going on such a popular night, I don't know if I should just go ahead and buy a ticket for df, or buy our tickets and buy the single one later in the summer. Are single adult tickets easier to come by?
Also, how will the crowds be in the parks otherwise in late October (10/28-11/2). We were there last summer mid June.
Thanks again!!

Hi, I made the decision to go on Oct. 31st which is probably going to be the busiest night. A friend of mine went last year, and she said that it was crowded before the parade. She mainly commented on how many strollers where everywhere! I've read other posts with this comment too. Oct. 31st and probably the Friday before (29th) are expected to be the most popular party nights. I've read other posts predicting those tickets to sell out before the event, so I'm not sure if they'll be available to purchase late Summer. It wouldn't matter if you were purchasing a childs ticket versus an adult. They go by numbers of tickets. The adult tickets are a little more than a child's ticket. My friend did say that the strollers started clearing out after the 1st parade. She's a Grandma. She held up fine. I don't think that my In-laws would do it though, but they're not good sports anyway. If you purchase MNSSHP tickets, the park will let you in beginning at 4pm. You wouldn't have to burn a park hopper pass at that time. The party doesn't begin until 7pm. They herd party goers to one of the designated lands within the MK (I don't remember which one) so that they can close the park at 6pm. We made reservations to eat dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. (They are taking PS reservations for the party nights now**no need to make these 90 days before the event) We will then have to wait outside of the restaurant until the party starts, or join the rest of the party goers wherever they are herded to. You can expect the parks to be much less crowded in Oct-Nov than in the summer when you've gone. The party will take place in a part of the MK limited to 7000 party goers. (I read this somewhere!) It will still be crowded, expecially on the 29th and 31st

Will DH and I feel stupid if we dress up?

I thought it would be fun as DH and I aren't partiers, so we don't usually go to Halloween parties. As I was reading some threads, so many people stated they were just going to wear Halloween T-shirts.

Do adults really dress up at MNSSHP? I just wanted to clarify that so we don't look ridiculous around the resort and MK on the day of our party.

This year will only be my 3rd MNSSHP, but I definitely did see adults dressed up in costume.....Cruella was very popular in 2001 & 2002!

I've contemplated the dressing up thing myself, but I think I've finally decided that DH & I will just wear Halloween T-shirts (probably the MNSSHP ones they'll sell in the park) and leave the costume wearing to DD. You see, my tickets arrived today (ordered on the 9th), and there is a blurb in the letter specifically about costumes. It says, and I quote, "COSTUMES - Children are encouraged to attend the party in costume."

I can see why some adults would want to dress up. As you've mentioned, adults do have costume parties at home; and as I've mentioned, I've considered it myself. Also, at the MNSSHP, everyone in your party is given a trick-or-treat bag at the gate....as if to say, all are welcome to "trick-or-treat" (receive candy). I'm sure there are some adults who enjoy doing this, and I can see where they might say, "What the heck. If I can trick-or-treat, I might as well do it in costume!"

I don't see the harm myself, but after reading the letter that came with my tickets, I've personally decided not to wear a costume.

Now, anyone who has stuck with my post to this point, well, you're a saint. lol ;) Seriously though, my next paragraph is analyzing things just a little too much. That's just my nature. But if you have an opinion, please straighten me out....

Candy was practically shoved down my throat the first year I attended this event (exaggerating only slightly). I finally got a clue and put the adults' bags in my backpack so that no one else would try to force the candy into them. Please don't take this the wrong way! I think it's great fun for those adults who want to participate, and I'm not saying it's wrong. I'm just saying that, to me, they kind of send mixed signals by emphasizing that "children" are encouraged to wear costumes to the party (not families, but "children"), but when you arrive at the gate they give both the children and the adults trick-or-treat bags. So I guess my question is, what do they want from us old folks? lol Are we supposed to be actual participants (costume-wearing trick-or-treaters) or simply blissful escorts for our children who are allowed to soak up the festive atmosphere only? I'm happy with either, because this is a FANTASTIC event, but I'd really like to know what the CMs at the park actually consider as acceptable party behavior from the adults. ;)

jeleebeene...you won't feel silly at all! From the first MNSSHP I attended 9yrs ago adults in costume has been increasing through the years as Halloween has become a really big holiday anymore!

but I'd really like to know what the CMs at the park actually consider as acceptable party behavior from the adults.

I think you can be as silly or as sedate as ya wanna be !!!

I received my tickets last Saturday-1 Minnie, 1 Mickey, 1 Donald, and 1 Goofy. I ordered them on May 5th. :)

1. Should we "waste" time eating at Liberty Tree Tavern during our evening at MNSSHP? or should we eat dinner before we get to the party?

2. How long would it take to eat at LTT?

3. What do u think??

4. Do most people leave early and the park is empty by 11pm?

5. Are the rides open til midnite?::yes:: :hyper:

We have PS for LTT for 5:30. MNSSHP doesn't start until 7 so we will have time to eat and hopefully be done close to the time the party is starting! :)

I am going on 10/17, and we have PS at LTT for 5:30pm that night. I believe we will have plenty of time as the meal is served family style buffet at the table. I do not think we will take that long to eat. How many others are going to be there on 10/17??

We will be going to our first MNSSHP on 10/3 (ordered tix today!!) It seems many have PS's for LTT and I am trying to decide what to do. The characters in Halloween costumes sound great. Would dining at LTT put you in a "better" position in the park for the "start" of the party than say CP? Or, am I overthinking this?? We really liked dinner at CP last year (my 5 year old DS LOVES Pooh and company). What is a good time to get PS's for--seems like many have them for anytime between 4 and 5:30?

Also, we will have UPHs. If we happen to be at the park early that day, will we have to leave and reenter with our party tickets?

One more question, we will be there 10/2 thru 10/9. I know there is another MNSSHP on 10/8, a Friday night. If we think we may want to go that evening too, should we purchase advance tickets before we leave home or would you guess that we may be able to purchase tickets at our resort or the park. It sounds like so much fun--we may want to go twice!! 10/8 is the beginning of Columbus Day weekend and I am guessing it may be crowded that evening. Good guess??

Many thanks!!

fairytinkerbell...I've never had dinner in the MK the night of MNSSHP because up until a couple years ago you were NOT let into MK until about 6:30pm.At that time I did think it was a waste of time eating in there when you could be riding things with no waits. But now that Disney is letting you in earlier for MNSSHP I think it's a pretty good idea to get an early PS for a restaurant in the MK.

HelloChum
am I overthinking this??
YES!!!

LOL!

The party is ALL OVER the MK so anywhere is a good position to start!

What is a good time to get PS's for
Earliest time you can get a PS is what I think.:)

Tickets for the 8th
Considering the day and weekend it might be a good idea to get tickets for that MNSSHP before you're at WDW!

If we happen to be at the park early that day, will we have to leave and reenter with our party tickets?
No you don't have to leave. In the past you could go to Guest Relations in the afternoon and get your wristband for the party.Lately they've had some places set up throughout the MK to do this.

Hey MinieFan, RDS912 & forgetyourtroubles -

We'll be there on the 17th as well - 2 families of 4 (DH, myself, DS2 & DS7 plus our friends and their DS5 & DS7).

miniefan - we will also be at LTT at 5:30 (although we may switch to Crystal Palace 90 days out).

We'll be dressed as Santa & Mrs. Claus, an elf and a reindeer.

See you guys there!

:)

I think we will say heck with it and dress up - it sounds like fun, so why not?

I am thinking of what to be, but DH will most likely be a pirate - pirate: something to where he doesn't need to wear make-up!!

What I will be - hmmm....decisions, decisions princess:
