Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Cruise, Oct 30th,2010 Magical Western NewTR link 4/10

We skipped the Pirate Party....both kids were wiped out and DH wasn't that interested. I didn't want to go alone, so I went to bed with everyone else.

I should have gone by myself! I could have danced with Savannah and Ellen! I could have seen Johnny Depp at sea! I missed it!

I'm going August 2012 no matter what. I plan to make a complete idiot out of myself dancing and have fun doing it!

Loving the cruise...really trying to convince the hubby to take one. He get's sea sick, so I don't want to be living with a puker for 3 - 5 days:confused:. The kids are dying to go!!! Any good advice??

BTW....was very happy no school for the kids today. I wasn't going to send Hannah if they had a delayed open. I figured they would be spending the day on the bus.

Can't wait to hear more

No...mine is a Canon Powershot S3IS. It was a step below the Rebel...back in oh....2007 when we bought it. It actually is a decent camera but it is not a DSLR and the more I learn about photography (going along with my new scrapbooking obsession) the more I see the limitations it has. It's got a decent zoom, but it cannot handle low light at all and is only a 6.1 MP... you can see the difference in sharpness and clarity when up against some of your pics or Judy's or Joanie's. On the plus side it is easier to carry around (not as easy as a P&S but...) In my dreamland I would love the Canon 7D or 60D but I'd take a Rebel any day of the week!;)

Everyone I know has the Tsi, and they all love it- mine is one step below that, xsi and I'm pretty happy! You can find some decent deals on the web, and usually get a big zoom lens at 50% off at the same time.

Oh wow...hilarious!!! or...not.....:rotfl: or..yeah!

Oh- it's definitely funny. All of our friends' friends thought we were idiots for the rest of the cruise, but I can live with it!

Well...not sure I can promise that!;)

LOL, I hear ya!

Bwahaha!

Too funny how the Dawn was stalking you like that (it was in Cayman too!) reminding you of the error of your timekeeping ways. Imagine...just imagine if somehow you had missed the ship that evening and there, looming above the empty dock where the Magic had been was the Dawn, taunting you! Wow. :rotfl:

Yes, I saw the loooooong line for the tender to get back on the Dawn in GC- we were soooooo glad we were getting back on the Magic, they seemed to be running the tenders more frequently.

That was funny! Ron was out on ours (like Pods, I was the one getting ready) and he was yelling to some see, so there I was in a towel peeking around the curtain trying to watch. Eventually when we got "far enough" away I came out to look, but then I realized we weren't really all that far away and that they probably could see me in my towel toga. Good thing those are big enough towels...

Good thing!! That's pretty funny!!

Oh man that was really, really good!!!

Ok....we did NOT share the same head server. We had Godwin, not Gabor. OK. It has been too long since the cruise. LOL. Sorry for implying your completely different serving team was slowing ours up.... :rolleyes1

I had no idea there was more than one head server in a dining room, but I guess there would have to be, DUH!

That coconut banana is the best thing.in.the.world! Love it!!

Now you're making me sad I didn't steal my kid's food!

I think that crab cake is Ron's favorite food on a cruise ship, evar.

It was good- but I wasn't gaga over it. :confused3

LMAO, you crack me up!!!!

Awesome!!!! Needs a nice big frame! LOL!

Yeah you did have the perfect seats, thanks for inviting me over!!! Although they seemed to stop the limbo really quick this time, didn't they? On past cruises the kids got around and under the limbo stick multiple times, this time they never made it through even once.

Yea- now that you mention it...

Yeah Brendan would have preferred just going to the Edge himself. They are growing up too fast I tell ya!

I HATE IT!!!

Oh yeah...you did! Full of win!!!

Thank-you!

Mmm....not sure if I should tell you this but when I was uploading the video yesterday Sarah saw it and pointed at you and said "Mee Maw! Piwates life for me!" Mee maw, is of course her grandma. I thought that was awesome, I guess in a dark video you could pass as my mom, you have similar builds and you are both blondes. She's a bit older. LOL. But it was so stinking cute to hear Sarah say that! (And anytime she sees anything pirate she says the whole phrase "Piwates life for me", sometimes with the yo ho's!!!

That's verrrrrry funny! No one's ever called me meemaw before...I think I have a little tear in my eye..... I love when she does the Piwates life thing- toooo stinkin cute!

Ah, such a bummer I missed it-back in the room with a passed out Sarah. If we'd have had the stroller...again....we'd have been there with ya. And I probably should have just drug her up there half sleeping or not. :rotfl2:

Next time will be easier...

You were awesome!!! When Ron came back to the room that night, the first thing out of his mouth was "You've gotta see this!" and he showed me the movies. So funny!

I had forgotten about that song- the one we started to was that really easy one (that I have some hope of following) that goes, "To the left, to the left" etc. She was a very good sport, your Savannah- love her!:lovestruc

It was great, you could have been up onstage leading those dances!!!! But methinks...you've done this sometime before! :rotfl:

Maybe.... I used to be alot more shy about the whole thing, and then one day i realized that if I didn't get out there and participate, i was missing all the fun! When I get pulled from an audience to participate, randomly (and I do- I must send off some kind off signal that says, "PICK MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!") I just try to make the most of it and lose myself- otherwise it's just too scary to have all those people looking at me! But nobody was looking at me at Pirate night- well, except for Ron and his vid! :rotfl: So I could just goof around....

Wow, so cool, we have not ever been able to stay awake for the movie. In fact I have still not ever seen the ending of POTC since I fell asleep when we were watching it at home. (Notorious for that). your movie buddy, too funny. Were you two the only ones who made it all the way through? Sorry you didn't get the hot towels this time..what a nice touch that was!

There was a small group of diehards left at the end...the number dwindles as the movie goes on....I was tired and cold, but I was soooo happy I saw the whole thing- it just feels so good watching that movie on that ship. The whole time that my movie buddy and i were like, "This is the BEST! This is the GREATEST!! Disney ROCKS!! But where's the HOT TOWELS?????" :rotfl:

Umm...yeah...you made it stop. LOL.:rotfl2:

Never fear, I'll update the link shortly. ;)
LMAO!!! :rotfl:
Oh yes- thanks for taking care of THAT...

Loved all the updates Ellen. Looks like so much fun was being had by you all.

Tequila shots, pirate parties and DANCING! Great video. :thumbsup2

And I'm thoroughly enjoying reading your report and Nenner1's report at the same time. It's like tag team trip reporting. :rotfl2:

Have a great day!

OK the link is fixed, for those who missed it:

Aaannnddd...... a pic or few to go along with it! ;)

Is Jen going to visit us in May???

I don't know- I hope so!!

I would love to!!! As long as the schedule allows!!!:banana:

We are there from May 13th to May 17th- Hope you will be able to say hi!! :goodvibes

I should have gone by myself! I could have danced with Savannah and Ellen! I could have seen Johnny Depp at sea! I missed it!

Yes you could have!!! :dance3:

I'm going August 2012 no matter what. I plan to make a complete idiot out of myself dancing and have fun doing it!

Very glad to hear it- make sure one of those other DISers takes video so we can all enjoy it!! :rotfl2:

Loving the cruise...really trying to convince the hubby to take one. He get's sea sick, so I don't want to be living with a puker for 3 - 5 days:confused:. The kids are dying to go!!! Any good advice??

Can't wait to hear more

We don't get sea sick, but I know there are a LOT of great remedies out there- alot of people wear the patch, or sea bands around their wrists, and those things are excellent because they don't make you drowsy like Dramamine will. I also have heard (from a friend in town) that there is something she has gotten at the health food store (in town) that is miraculous. It's a great cruise, and honestly I see a LOT of people with the patch on or the bands, and they look fine, so good luck! :thumbsup2

I was glad they cancelled school for them, too- they were getting out at 1, so by the time they got up there, they would have just turned around and come home. Sean wasn't too happy, though. He slept most of the day.:confused3

Thanks Chris! It is like tag-team TReporting- I love reading along with hers! On my last cruise, everyone else who said they were doing a TR didn't- I was all alone! :sad1: This is much more fun!:thumbsup2

It was Thursday morning...how does Thursday arrive sooooo quickly on the cruise and take forever to arrive when you are in a regular week at home? :confused3 Anyway...we had the usual 6 am wakeup call- which I REALLY did not appreciate AT ALL this morning because of my previous Johnny Depp induced late night. But....this morning we had plans- we were having Palo brunch with two other couples from our DISmeet thread. So I really needed to rally (although, truthfully, I could have stayed in bed all day- my sinuses were a TRAIN wreck that morning, and I was nauseated etc because of them..ick. No doubt due to the weather that was on the way). So at 11 we headed up to Palo, and were greeted by a great surprise- some other DISers had managed to get reservations once they got onboard (and I believe most of them did not even do it the first day- I think they did it maybe even up until the day before) and Fastpaks and tjbaggott (I think) had managed to get the Private Dining Room for all of us! YAY THEM!!! Anyway, brunch was wonderful, and we all enjoyed getting to spend time together- even though, I personally, was not myself, I was busy having a sinus-induced-sleep-deprived-out-of-body-experience for most of it, so I have to apologize to anyone who was there if I seemed a little out-of-it. :)

Anyway, I took some photos, but not a whole lot (sorry). We all went on the tour of the offerings-

Isn't our server adorable?

We ordered pizzas for the whole table to share- I LOVED this, we got one of everything or almost everything, I think, and they were amazing. No pic, though (I KNOW!!! I was SOOOOO not myself!), but I did take a pic of my plate from the buffet-

IMG_0631.jpg

Looks like I was in the mood for seafood! I also had to have the Stolen (now they offer two- a traditional and a Disney version- I went with the Disney one because I loved it sooooo much last time. As a matter of fact, this pic is from last time!)

Here is the grape blue cheese pizza, also from last time-

I make this at home, I love it, there is an excellent recipe on Food & Wine on the web, and it is always a HUGE hit!

For my main course, I ordered veal marsala (I think!)- it was incredible-

IMG_0632.jpg

Pods had eggs benedict-

IMG_0633.jpg

It was all soooo good, I wish I was on that ship RIGHT NOW because I would eat about 10x as much and take pics of everything!! UGH....

Our server graciously took our group's photo-

Fastpaks & Amy-

IMG_0635.jpg

It was a great brunch, I am so grateful to the DISers who got it together at the last minute, and so grateful to Disney for making it happen for so many couples who couldn't get online ressies prior to cruising. :goodvibes

When brunch was over, I decided to head to the DVC presentation...not that I was going to buy more points, I just needed to hear what they had to offer, I guess! I am soooo glad I did though, because the gift I got just for attending totally made the whole thing worth while. Remember this photo I loved in our cabin?

IMG_0375.jpg

Well THAT's what everyone got just for showing up- minus the frame. LOVE IT!!! It's one of the best Disney Cruise souvies EVAAARRRRRRR!!!!

Up next...tut tut it looks like rain, and OMG!!! Wherrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre's the room service?????

I watched it too!! Now I want to go NJ week 2012- maybe the 4 nighter?

loving the video of the pirates night, and the pictures that go with it.

We love Palo's brunch but as yet never experienced it in the private dining room - one day! LOL Gutted we cannot get in Palos or Remy's for the dream next week ---- NEXT WEEK!!! OMG where has that time gone? But we will be sure to get to Palo's on the Wonder in August!

So awesome how they bugged and bugged and Palo finally gave in and gave you guys the room!! AWESOME!!!! And look! I know everyone there! That must have been a really fun brunch!!! :thumbsup2

IMG_0629.jpg

Ok is it me....or do the Pastas of the day look like they have been sitting there since I saw them Monday....!?!?! :rotfl2:

We ordered pizzas for the whole table to share- I LOVED this, we got one of everything or almost everything, I think, and they were amazing.

Now that's the way to do it!!!!

No pic, though (I KNOW!!! I was SOOOOO not myself!), but I did take a pic of my plate from the buffet-

Looks like I was in the mood for seafood!
You too huh? Looks a lot like Ron's plate did!!!

I also had to have the Stolen (now they offer two- a traditional and a Disney version- I went with the Disney one because I loved it sooooo much last time. As a matter of fact, this pic is from last time!)

Mmmmmmmmm.....yummmmmmm!

Here is the grape blue cheese pizza, also from last time-

I make this at home, I love it, there is an excellent recipe on Food & Wine on the web, and it is always a HUGE hit!

Craving it now, even though it wasn't what we expected when we tried it onboard. Funny how that is, the Magic of the cruise that makes ya crave stuff!....LOL!

It was a great brunch, I am so grateful to the DISers who got it together at the last minute, and so grateful to Disney for making it happen for so many couples who couldn't get online ressies prior to cruising. :goodvibes

The running joke between Ron and I...did Judy EVER stop "working"? Every time we saw her she was diligently toiling away at something for someone. That was what made this cruise such an awesome experience though, everyone going the extra mile for everyone else. :goodvibes

I WANNA GO BACK!! ;)

When brunch was over, I decided to head to the DVC presentation...not that I was going to buy more points, I just needed to hear what they had to offer, I guess! I am soooo glad I did though, because the gift I got just for attending totally made the whole thing worth while. Oh wow...that is so very cool. I always want to try to make a DVC presentation, not just cause they have raffles and great gifts....but we also just want to hear how it all works. I always think I have a pretty good idea until Ron asks me a specific question and I never know the answer. LOL. that is a really amazing gift though!!!

Up next...tut tut it looks like rain, and OMG!!! Wherrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre's the room service?????

Oh boy......we totally missed the rain, and I heard it was hard to miss.....LOL!:rotfl:

Oh thanks so much for that! :rotfl:

:) If you prefer the link to go bad again I can take care of that....:rolleyes1 I think the video is awesome, you are so good!!! :thumbsup2

I don't know- I hope so!!

We are there from May 13th to May 17th- Hope you will be able to say hi!! :goodvibes

w00t! That is perfect- right over a weekend. It will probably have to be Sunday, or maybe Saturday evening. There is nothing currently on teh dance calendar, and although that is usually baseball end-of-year playoffs/allstar time Sunday should work well. What are your plans for those days...ADR's? I'm excited!!!:jumping1:

Thanks Chris! It is like tag-team TReporting- I love reading along with hers! On my last cruise, everyone else who said they were doing a TR didn't- I was all alone! :sad1: This is much more fun!:thumbsup2

I know! it's so fun! Sorry I am a couple of days behind, maybe I will catch up while you are in St. John? Speaking of, so it's been a year since our paths first crossed in the air over St. Thomas? Aaah.....could use me some virgin islands right about now...ha!

Ooohh I love your picture from the DVC presentation!!! It is PERFECT!! :goodvibes
Palo looked delicious as usual ;) Although I noticed something on a spoon....amuse bouche ish.....what was that?!
I remember the movie at sea....and you are soooooooo right...just so magical watching THAT movie at sea...no matter how many times you have seen it :thumbsup2
Look at you shaking your groove thing!! :woohoo: Woo hoo!!!
You go girl!! :thumbsup2

And oh yes....Denny and Pods take very...... 'memorable' pictures! :rotfl:

Tracy

Great Palo update! Sorry you weren't feeling all that well, nothing worse than when you are on vacation and even "more" worse if you are on a Disney vacation! ;)

It's great so many DISer got together, must have been a super fun event!

Great gift you got at the presentation - that is one really awesome photo!

Count me in on the ones who watched the DREAM christening! I drove home in record time and it had just started. We sat glued to the screen until it was over! :thumbsup2

I didn't get to watch the video of you last night as it was crazy soccer/dance night but tonight I will.

Love the update. :thumbsup2 How did you go about booking a private brunch on the ship? Looks like a lot of fun was had by all but what a bummer you were hungover... er.... I mean had a stuffy nose. ;)

I would love to!!! As long as the schedule allows!!!:banana:

OH SURE I SEE HOW YOU ARE!!!;)

I am watching the Dream cchristening ceremony live on facebook!!!!!

ugg i had to work and they block all the fun sights.. so Im trying to watch it now... checked some pics out.. its making me drool.. I wanna go on her!

now back to TR Comments LOL

Oh Palo how I love thee.. would love ya more if I would have had brunch.. everytime i see everyones pics it makes me sad/hungry/deppresed.. oh some day... maybe on that same cruise we take where I freak out over stingrays!

Sucks your sinus's didnt realize you were on vacation and needed to give you a break. Mine got like that on our 3day RCCL booze cruise (i know me on a booze cruise, sooo not my style LOL) from going in and out and the darn smoke.. thats why i  disney no indoor smoking. (worries me about our carnival coming up)

Palo brunch looks so delicious! This (and the tea at Palo - did you ever have tea there?) is one of the reasons why I think a 7-night cruise with more sea days makes a lot of sense! :thumbsup2

loving the video of the pirates night, and the pictures that go with it.

WOW one week!!!! Actually, today it's even less- even though I am leaving for STJ on Saturday, I am sooooo envious! I have GOT to get on that ship!!

I would try for brunch onboard- over half of that table in the Private DR was people who couldn't get online Ressies...ya never know!

So awesome how they bugged and bugged and Palo finally gave in and gave you guys the room!! AWESOME!!!! And look! I know everyone there! That must have been a really fun brunch!!! :thumbsup2

Yea- that's a big lesson for all of us...:thumbsup2

IMG_0629.jpg

Ok is it me....or do the Pastas of the day look like they have been sitting there since I saw them Monday....!?!?!

They didn't look so great to me, but I'm sure they tasted great when they were fresh!

Now that's the way to do it!!!!

You too huh? Looks a lot like Ron's plate did!!!

Mmmmmmmmm.....yummmmmmm!

Craving it now, even though it wasn't what we expected when we tried it onboard. Funny how that is, the Magic of the cruise that makes ya crave stuff!....LOL!

The running joke between Ron and I...did Judy EVER stop "working"? Every time we saw her she was diligently toiling away at something for someone. That was what made this cruise such an awesome experience though, everyone going the extra mile for everyone else. :goodvibes

Judy was so sweet- she was always working...but, WHAT ABOUT YOU???? You were the same way!! :rotfl:

I WANNA GO BACK!!

Me too!

Maybe I know the answer...in case you haven't noticed, I'm obsessed!! :rotfl: It's the best thing we ever did, buying all that vacation insurance- I know that there is nothing between me and a Disney trip for the rest of my life- it feels AWESOME everyday!!:cool1:

Oh boy......we totally missed the rain, and I heard it was hard to miss.....LOL!

We were VERY lucky!

:) If you prefer the link to go bad again I can take care of that....:rolleyes1 I think the video is awesome, you are so good!!! :thumbsup2

That's ok- I am NOT so good, though- do I dance in the other one better?

Saturday we're eating at Sanaa...I think Sunday afternoon we might be doing tea at GF...I have to locate my itinerary and get back to you- right now I'm just focused on STJ and the paper I have with all the info isn't here at my computer-

I know! it's so fun! Sorry I am a couple of days behind, maybe I will catch up while you are in St. John? Speaking of, so it's been a year since our paths first crossed in the air over St. Thomas? Aaah.....could use me some virgin islands right about now...ha!

I was just thinking about that! But THIS year, we are staying until Thursday! :woohoo: Saturday we're going out to dinner at Morgan's Mango. Sunday we're hangin at the villa pool (the view is incredible) after we hike to the petroglyphs, and maybe go to the beach, then heading into town for happy hour at the Beach Club and Woody's. Monday we're having lunch at Caneel Bay, hangin at Honeymoon Beach, then kayaking/hiking/snorkeling there. Monday night, Ted's Supper Club is coming to the Villa to cook a fabulous dinner for us. Tuesday we chartered Prowler through Sea & Ski again- if the water isn't crazy rough, which last year it WAS, we're going to The Baths in VirginGorda, Willy T and Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dike (BVI's). We have Thomas for a captain again, and I plan to book him for our cruise day in St Thomas in August with the kids for waterskiing and a GREAT DAY all over STT & STJ- Tuesday night we'll pick up sushi from Happy Fish (after a Pama Sutra at the bar:rolleyes:) and then head back to the villa. Wednesday we'll go to the beach, not sure which one. Wednesday night we're eating at La Tapa, my favorite server, Jesse, is working. :goodvibes We love that restaurant! Thursday we have to be on the 8:45 ferry to Red Hook, I think- not ever really sure about the ferry schedule on STJ.... CAn't wait!!!

Ooohh I love your picture from the DVC presentation!!! It is PERFECT!! :goodvibes

I agree!! LOVE IT!!!

Palo looked delicious as usual ;) Although I noticed something on a spoon....amuse bouche ish.....what was that?!

Salmon mousse. I didn't like it that much- others at the table thought it was wonderful. But I was "off" that morning...

:rotfl:

Tracy

Denny & Pods should not be allowed near a camera!! :rotfl: Lucky for them they have MEK & I to document our lives!! :rotfl:

Hi Karin!! I watched that on Facebook while chatting with Kara- it felt like we were there (almost)! I wish I could talk Pods into a 4 nighter, but there is NO WAY because of this August 9 night on RCCL. I know...poor me! :rotfl2: I'll just have to hear about it through you!:goodvibes

I didn't get to watch the video of you last night as it was crazy soccer/dance night but tonight I will.

Love the update. :thumbsup2 How did you go about booking a private brunch on the ship? Looks like a lot of fun was had by all but what a bummer you were hungover... er.... I mean had a stuffy nose. ;)

Well, I had put my name on a list with DCL for the Private room MONTHS ago- then after the booking window opened, we only had 6 people for that room, and they want more like 10-14 for it, so I had to let it go when DCL called me in the fall to confirm it. But then these other DISsers were able to book while onboard (some of them got it just the day before) and asked the maitre d to reserve the Private room- that's it!

And I was NOT hungover...but I sure did FEEL like I was! Kind of feel like that right now (more storms coming in, that always is bad for me) and I haven't had a glass of wine since the weekend. So. There. :rotfl:

OH SURE I SEE HOW YOU ARE!!!;)

ugg i had to work and they block all the fun sights.. so Im trying to watch it now... checked some pics out.. its making me drool.. I wanna go on her!

That's how I feel!!! Can we do a girls trip? It will be ages before my kids can go....look at the prices...it's not so bad (especially if you are just paying for ONE person....

now back to TR Comments LOL

Oh Palo how I love thee.. would love ya more if I would have had brunch.. everytime i see everyones pics it makes me sad/hungry/deppresed.. oh some day... maybe on that same cruise we take where I freak out over stingrays!

Crap- I didn't even think about that- we're doing RCCL this summer....when are you going on Carnival? Where?

Palo brunch looks so delicious! This (and the tea at Palo - did you ever have tea there?) is one of the reasons why I think a 7-night cruise with more sea days makes a lot of sense! :thumbsup2

We did tea on the last cruise- it's very hard to get- I got it last time because they used to have a Romantic escape at Sea Package- which we got- and it included the earliest booking window. Loved the tea!! Pods didn't want to go- so I asked this nice woman I met on the plane who had all the same vacation plans as us that I kept running into. :goodvibes Here's a couple of pics from that tea, in 2008-

I love sea days- that's when there are the most activities onboard! :yay:
