I didn't see this posted, so I thought I'd share what came in my MouseSavers newsletter today. Sounds FUN!

The witching hour of midnight on September 29, 2006, will mark the beginning of Disney’s HalloweenTime, an all-new seasonal event at the Disneyland Resort in California, with whimsical décor, costumed Disney Characters, and interactive Halloween activities the whole family will find frightfully fun. Continuing through October 31, the first-ever event will allow guests to enter a family-friendly world of Halloween delights.

“Disney’s HalloweenTime will be a wonderful opportunity for families to come together and enjoy the make-believe aspects of the holiday,” said Matt Ouimet, president of the Disneyland Resort. “We hope families will begin a new holiday tradition of celebrating Halloween with us here at the Disneyland Resort.”

The autumn motif will be immediately apparent as guests approach Disneyland park where charming jack-o-lantern creations depicting Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto and Goofy will adorn the rooftop of the Main Entrance. Upon entering the park, guests will see the familiar imagery of the “Mickey Planter” below the Main Street Train Station transformed into a canvas of pumpkins and a masked Mickey face, featuring a skin-tone and ears created with real miniature white and orange pumpkins.

On Main Street, U.S.A. festive orange and yellow bunting will grace the quaint Victorian buildings while fall will be in full bloom in the flowerbeds and streetlamp flower boxes with a floral palette of green, purple, orange and yellow. A centerpiece of Town Square will be a 12-foot tall Mickey Mouse jack-o-lantern, complete with pumpkin ears. The carved Mickey image will greet guests with a smile as they stroll down Main Street and will give them a playful wink as they depart while casting a warm glow at night.

The Central Plaza of Disneyland will also be specially decorated with Disney Character-inspired jack-o-lanterns surrounding the famous “Partners” statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse. Additionally, the Disney Characters themselves will get into the “spirit” of the occasion, wearing their favorite Halloween costumes, while meeting and greeting guests in Town Square and the Central Plaza.

At the Halloween Round-Up in Frontierland little ones visiting Big Thunder Ranch will have fun enjoying crafts and listening to a few tall, and possibly spooky, tales. The round-up will also feature an array of tasty treats to satisfy the most monstrous of appetites including cotton candy in Halloween colors, plus little frights can participate in some Spooky-Kookie-Cookie decorating.

As part of Disney’s HalloweenTime the popular seasonal attraction “Haunted Mansion Holiday” returns in New Orleans Square to delight guests by showing what happens when the traditions of Halloween and Christmas collide, resulting in holiday mayhem. Inspired by the innovative animated film Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, “Haunted Mansion Holiday” depicts a holiday season as taken over by Jack Skellington and his friends from Halloweentown.

Across the Disneyland Resort esplanade, guests to Disney’s California Adventure park will instantly be immersed in the spirit of Halloween fun as they encounter the iconic 11 foot tall “CALIFORNIA” entranceway letters - - now seemingly made from giant pieces of candy corn. Once inside the park guests will thrill to meeting an assortment of Disney Villains on the prowl while enjoying the enhanced atmosphere décor in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot.

Looming 183 feet high (the tallest attraction at the Disneyland Resort) and tempting guests to leave reality behind is the Hollywood Tower Hotel, site of the terrifying, other-worldly experience that is “The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.” The park’s popular supernatural adventure, based on “a lost episode” of the classic Twilight Zone television series, will take on an even more ominous presence with enhanced décor and creepy staff (such as the hotel maid whose shift never ends!).

Thanks so much for sharing that info. We love being at DL in Oct and now we will love it even more!

:bitelip: FINALLY! I am soooo happy about this, it makes me that much more excited to go in October!
My bday is Halloween and my DBF is October 14th...we both love halloween! I am so glad Disneyland is stepping up the festivities. Oooo can't wait!
Thank you sooo much for posting this, you made my day. :maleficen

WOW! We already have planned our trip, partially so we could do the Halloween thing at DCA, now there is more to look forward to! THis sounds fun and seeing the villians really sounds awesome!

Does anyone know if these decorations will be up all day, everyday..or just during Mickey's Halloween Treat on certain nights. We are not going to the Halloween party, but I would love to see alll that this article describes.

Thanks!

As far as I understand, this is independant of the DCA Mickeys Halloween Treat thing.... and that they will be up all day for the month...

Oh wow, makes me excited for going in October next year! The holiday mansion was a good enough reason for us to go then, but then just adds to it! Thanks for posting this! :)

I wonder how this is going to work? Will we need to make reservations or will it be an all day just show up kind of thing? We didn't go into the Round-Up area last time, though we walked past it several times, so I'm not sure what it even looks like inside there.

This is MOST excellent news!! We got married on Halloween (DH's favorite holiday) and used to LOVE it when they did the Halloween events in Disneyland. The ones at DCA are fun, too, but this sounds fantastic!!!!

So, will we see any of you there on the 30th? LOL!

Stagemom - if the cookie thing is like the ones they've done for other holidays, it's simply a walk-up thing. You buy your cookie first, then you're allowed in to the decorating area - tables that have all the decorating materials ready and waiting. You go at your own pace and have a blast doing it! I've never seen lines, but I would imagine that it could get that crowded at times.

Thanks! Perhaps we'll head into DL the day we arrive and check it out. I think we may want to anyway just to see the decorations. I afraid if we wait until the next day 11/1 they may be starting to take them down? This is definetly a reason to upgrade from a 3 day hopper to a 4 or 5 right! :teeth:

I was SO thrilled when I read this news! I love it when the characters dress up in Halloween costumes! They are so creative and charming! I'm sure Main Street will be beautiful, too. ANd the activities in Frontierland....so many fantastic touches. Those details are what I love about Disney so much!

Thanks for posting this!! This sounds wonderful and fun. We are already going to the Halloween Party since it was such a blast last year. I guess we'll be making a few trips in October just to check everything out.

I'm very excited about this. :cheer2: We just booked our trip yesterday, and we'll be there Oct 21-26, so this was an added bonus for us when I found out about it.

I talked to my 7 year old DS last night and asked him what kind of costume he thinks Mickey Mouse will be wearing for Holloween when we see him in October. He responded by insisting that both he and Mickey Mouse should dress up like Mr. Incredible! When I asked him who should dress up like Syndrome, he said that he and Mickey Mouse couldn't be Syndrome because they were both good guys. :rotfl: I suggested that Donald Duck could dress up like Syndrome since Donald in kind of ornery, and my son said he would consider that even though he thinks Donald Duck is a good guy too. :rotfl2:

I like the way seven year olds think. :cool1:

So is this extra or can anyone get this with park admission???

This portion is for anyone entering the parks from 9/29-10/31. Sounds fun, doesn't it?!?

Totally by accident, I will be there on the very first day the 29th! I am thrilled, since I can't be there for Christmas.

Isn't there a special Halloween event at DCA in the evenings as well? Has anyone done this and is it too scary for a 6-year-old who is not really too 'into' Halloween??? Thanks.
Deb

Does anyone know if DLR holds a special Halloween parade like Boo To You in WDW? I would like to check out Halloween Time at DLR, but I also want to see WDW's Boo To You parade or something similar?

We went during the Halloween festivities last year. The decorations are up all day, every day. You don't have to do the Halloween party to enjoy them. It was an interesting change for us, we always go at Christmas time. I can't remember the last time we were there without some sort of holiday decorations up.

I love the decorations too, but I was hoping to hear something about a parade? Is there a parade or no?
