Mickey's Halloween party

Has anyone done this and it is really worth the money for kids 7,7,4, and 1.5? It looks cool but I am thinking maybe the kids would be exhausted that late at night. We are bringing a sitter so we could leave her with the baby back at the villa. Anyone done this before with that age kids? all thoughts welcome!

We went two years ago when our girls were 7 & 9. We thoroughly enjoyed it, stayed till around 11:30. Staying at a monorail resort definitely makes it easier with little ones, we were at the Poly that time. We were booked for last year but had to reschedule due to a death in the family. This year we'll be at the Portofino Bay Resort at US (pet friendly). It is tons of fun for kids and adults, no frights at all. The lights are dimmed, spooky music plays, sillhouettes shine of the buildings of Main Street. The parade and fireworks are special, characters are out in costume. If your time and budget allows I'd say yes, it's worth it.

We are thinking of going, but it seems like a lot of money!!!! We have a DS6/5 and he usually is in bed by 8:30. He can stay up later, but he gets up around 6-6:30!!!! I just don't want to deal with a melt down. I don't think the times for the parade and fireworks have been posted yet. So is it really worth over $100?

Ooooo, that's a hard one. Seems like two years ago the first parade was around 8, fireworks maybe 9 and then the second parade at 10. Before each parade they had a kids costume contest in Tomorrowland and the winners rode on a float with some characters. So cute. My girls, luckily, or unluckily, are night owls, but they are also older. 9 & 11 now. When we went two years ago we left the park by 11:30, had made that day a sleep in one, had done a resort change (WL to Poly for monorail convenience). At his age, you may be better off waiting a year or two. Or, if you'll be there a few days before a party, try him out at an EMH evening, see how he handles the later time. Good luck making a decision.

Teens might find it lame, might enjoy the party over at US/IOA more, it's really scary. Even though we will be staying over there, there's no way I'd take my girls to it. We saw a show on it on the Travel Channel, it scared me

I have taken my children (they were 4 & 1) at the time. My son is also and early riser no matter what time he goes to bed he is up at 6:45 every morning! He was a trooper at MNSSHP though. We had ZERO problems with him staying awake, no melt downs, and he had a great time. He conked out on the car ride back to our resort (we were staying off site at the time). I think that the next morning he slept in until about 7:30. My daughter had an absolute blast. We had a stroller for her when she got tired and took breaks for the both of them often. I think that part of the key to this was that we didn't do anything except for go to thepool the day of the party.

We were lucky to be able to virtually walk onto every ride and get all that we wanted to get done and be back in our room by 11pm.

The "worth it" part really only for you to figure out. For us it was worth it because we got to see all of the characters in one night. They were all out and about. I have never seen that many characters out at MK at once. We got to see MK all decorated up for Halloween. We got to see a different parade that the general public doesn't get to see. We got to trick o' treat at MK. We got to ride the popular rides with little to no wait. We ate a LTT where the characters are dressed in costume. Watching my son and daughter dance multiple dances with Chip, Dale, and Pluto was priceless.

Glad you also had a positive experience like we did. I think one key is to go early in the "party season" and also to go on a weekday, if possible. This allowed us to have smaller crowds, most locals go on the weekends. The trick or treating was an added bonus, we had only a small amount of candy, didn't want to take the time to stand in line. Well, when we reached the exit, the CM's had boxes of full sized Nerds and Shock tarts. They loaded up all four of our bags (mine & Dh's too!) . I finally had to trash some of it about 6 months later we had so much.

We went last year with our DS (2). We had a great time! We had a long nap before the evening, and we left after the parade. He made it fine up to 11pm waaay past his bed time.

We are going again this year...can't wait! I really enjoyed the atmoshpere, the candy and the parade!

do you need to bring a trickrtreat bag or are they provided?

They are provided, but they are small .... about the size of a brown paper lunch bag, maybe even smaller.

The last time we went our kids were 6 and 14 and they both had such a good time. Their cousins came along, 6, 8, 10, 14,15. Everyone said how much fun they had and wanted to do it again! The older kids went for the rides I think my son said they rode space mountian like 15 times, with no wait. We took the younger kids for candy, dance parties, seeing the charcters in halloween costumes. The parks are decked out kinda spooky- but fun spooky. It seemed everywhere we went there was some other fun activity going on. We ended up with plenty of candy..

Now we did have some down time that day- took a break at our resort. We swam and took a rest/nap. I think we stayed till about 11, we let the older kids stay with their Aunt till it closed..

Were going again Oct 2. Son is 11 now and looking forward to having a fun time again, as are Mom and Dad.
We thought it was worth the $$ no matter our age. I think DH and I would go even if our kids were not with us on the trip.

Heres my 2 cents! Hubby and I HONEYMOONED over Halloween in disney And *WE * enjoyed the MNSSP immensly!

Although we have NOT taken the kids to a party like that, we have taken them to disney and stayed up late when normally they too go to bed early-but hey YOUR ON VACATION!!!..I think they would LOVE it..If they are smaller...have them try to sleep in/ not rush out the morning of mnssp, or go back midday and take a nap/break/ refresh then hit the party....We are going again over halloween( just hubby & I) and we for SURE have bought tixs..We had a BLAST!!!!

we have got tickets for the mnnshp on the 15th of september, it wil be me the wife and three boys. 8,6,1. and we cant wait ,its gonna be a highlight of this trip. we are staying at the poly so easy to get bak to resort.

I think the costume contest is a tradition. I haven't seen much info this year though. I have heard that the "free" photo that you used to get is history, I hope the costume contest isn't too!
