Mickey's Halloween Party and Halloween Time Superthread 2018!!

Last year we got our wristbands in Tomorrowland when it was time since we spent the day at the park. If we do go this year I’m not sure if I want to buy tickets to be inside before it starts. The kids loved the TT pre-party so that would be a priority. Is there a line that starts for DL to wait in for the event to get in on time? I’m guessing the lines could be huge. What time should we start waiting in TT to be ready?

Last year we got M&M's (peanut and plain), Kit-Kats, 100 Grand Bars, Crunch Bars, Skittles, Reese's PB Cups, Snickers, Twix, Almond Joy, Hershey Bars (white and chocolate), Milky Ways, Achoos, Pirate's Booty, Nerds, Laffy Taffy, Starbursts, Sour Patch Kids, Butterfingers, Peanut Chews, Nerds, Sour Straws, Apple Slices, Peeps, Baby Ruths, and some other non-candy items.

Last year, the second parade was at 10:30 pm.

Last year the in-park check-in location was over at the old Starcade building, but in past years it was over by Frontierland. Hopefully guests at the first party will report back on Wednesday, so that by the Friday party we'll know where the in-park location is and whether or not there is a Toontown Pre-Party.

On an unrelated note...I just noticed a small blurb about special offerings for AP holders on the MHP website:

Thanks for the AP info! This year will be my first time going to MHP and first year being an AP. What do they usually give out?

Is there anything special for Disney Visa or DVC?

I think last year there might have been a special Halloween event (not connected to MHP) for DVC members at an on site hotel. But I don't remember anything special just for DVC or Disney Visa at MHP.

There are designated turnstiles ("Special Event") for MHP. Usually there are moderately long lines ready to go when those turnstile open 3 hours before the official party start time. The lines move pretty quickly once the turnstiles open. For the pre-party (assuming that there is one this year), if you wait until after it starts, there won't be any line to get in. After the ropes drop and the first crowds go in and disperse, there will just be CMs checking for wristbands at the entrance. You'll walk right in after that. There will be the usual lines for M&Gs and TOT trails, but those do move. But you won't wait to enter TT.

In prior years excluding, last year they gave out rice crispy treats one year and a drawstring bag another year that I remember. It's nicer than the regular candy you get at the treat trails. Last year we just got a photo opp which was terrible as the magic shot disnt work for everyone including me so, Zero was missing from my pic. I'm so happy they're bring back AP treats! Other treats we got that others didn't,mention were goldfish crackers & Graham crackers cookies, cheese its crackers and kettle chips. You can ask for healthier treats that are not candy and they will give you,the apple slices, carrots, chips, pirates booty etc.

In 2016 we got an AP monogrammed bag. I dumped all my candy and then some in it and I use it now for groceries. They also have out some kind of treat but I don’t remember what it was. That year the AP distribution was in the Main Street opera house and they had Halloween shorts playing in the theatre.

Oh wow! I hope the AP treats are cool. This is also my first year going as an AP holder.

Are ride wait times about the same during both parades? Is one parade typically more crowded than the other? Thanks.

The second parade is usually less crowded than the first. I don't know that the attraction lines are really all that impacted by the parades; I'd say they just generally get shorter as the night goes on.

And these were the AP offerings in 2015...a chocolate covered rice crispie pop (either dark or white chocolate) and a 60th Anniversary string bag!

Can I just ramble on my plans for a minute? Lol! Only you all understand!

Arriving at LAX at 7:30 am on a Friday morning (10/12)... I hate LAX but they get in the earliest. We won’t check bags, so we will pretty much run to the curb and jump in a taxi or maybe I should uber... so I figure worst case scenario we will be at PPH by 9 am (time to get off the plane, to the curb, the all knowing google says it’s a 45 minute drive, but yeah there will be traffic...)

Check in and leave our bags and head for the parks... again being conservative, I will round up to walking into DCA at 10 am. We got party tix for that night, so I figure we will start at DCA. We have to get up at 2 am, so right now I am thinking if our room is ready before 3 we will go take a couple hour nap mid-afternoon and then go to DL for the party after, so we are able to hit it until midnight. My 14 year old has no issues with Disney naps, is well aware that they are a good break! So, we could have 4 hours with maxpass in DCA, and then a couple more hours in DL post nap before the party starts. Head to the hotel after the party and crash.

Saturday is early entry at DL... which by my guess will be 7 am. Also by my guess we will have hit all the early entry rides during the party. I think we will use my free character meal this morning instead? Still need to get up, cause I want the earliest seating. Anyone done the revamped PPH meal yet? We used to do it every trip, pretty much for Stitch! DCA will be open at 8 most likely... if we do breakfast we would miss that rope drop too, but not as bad. I think we would head there first and max pass what we could and spend the day hopping back and forth. Current plan is IF they are doing F! We would do a late-ish lunch at B.B. for the 2nd F! seating. And again IF they are still doing PTN, we would watch that first and then head for F! A nap may also happen after lunch...

Sunday is our last day (did I mention this is a quickie trip?) I think we would use the early entry at DCA for our last day (probably 7 am again, there is a downfall to going during busy times, early, early mornings!) We have to check out of the hotel before we hit the parks... so then I was thinking... what if we just hit the parks and then went to Storytellers at like noon? Use the character meal then? We’d have 5 park hours, then a break for food... I see they have weekend brunch with the characters now... I wish they hadn’t gotten rid of all the random woodland creatures they used to have there... after brunch/lunch we could head to DL or whatever. Our fight is out of SNA (thank goodness!) and not until nearly 9 pm. So we will grab an uber at like 7 and still have 90 minutes before the flight (thinking backwards, that means leaving the parks at like 6:30 to walk back to PPH, collect our bags and get in the uber.)

What do you all think? I am not counting on WOC being ready... if it is, we may be choosing that over F! Can’t wait to see all the new Halloween stuff in Carsland... I am so ready to plan *something* but it’s still too early lol

I wonder if going solo is a good idea? Is it expensive to attend this party?

I have done the MNSSHP at the Magic Kingdom two times now as a solo person and one time hanging out with some friends. When I do the MHP in October, I will be going once by myself (unless I find out friends are going) and once specifically with a friend.

Personally, I think going solo is fine and from my experience quite enjoyable. The good is that you can go do whatever you want without worrying if other people want to do the same or are having fun. The bad is that you may not have someone to share the experience with and share memories.

I think it comes down to how comfortable you are going to the parks alone.

As for how expensive it is, the tickets are roughly $100 (give or take depending on the night you go). But I think the cost is well worth it. Most hard ticketed events, like MHP, see reduced crowds than a typical day in the park. Usually the wait time for most of the attractions are going to be low. If you like character meet & greets, this is the only thing that may have really long lines and wait times. Basically, you are the only one that can determine if the cost of the event (e.g. MHP) is worth it to you.

How strict are they for costumes re: can not touch the floor. So for example, if I wanted to do a disney princess gown, and it is still a few inches off the ground, am i good?

Some CMs are very strict about the rules, some are less so. It is always safer to go with the stricter interpretation so that you know you'll pass muster no matter who inspects your costume. Also, you just want to be safe and comfortable getting on and off rides and walking around so many other guests, especially small kids who can easily trip and step on your hem in the dark. A few inches off the ground should be fine.

Has anyone heard of they are bringing back the Halloween tea time at Steakhouse 55?

Yes!! I just booked it for Oct 5th and they said it would be the Halloween themed again!!
yeah - did you have a hard time getting your time you wanted? I'm marking my calendar to call in the 60 day mark to make reservations.
