Would like some opinions. What are the swinging carts like on Mickey's fun wheel? Terrifying or fun? Or a little of both? I like thrill rides but I feel like I've heard these described as a little too much for some.
It depends on what you like. I feel like the whole thing is a wheel of death. My friend thinks it is the most fun thing she has ever done in the whole wide world.
I seriously was terrified of the swinging carts for a long time. I'm not a huge ferris wheel fan to begin with...we have a bigger one at an amusement park in Utah and they are true gondola style seats, right by a canyon. When you get up to the top and the wind starts blowing and stop you there to get people out of the bottom. Yeah freaky. But the mickey one is actually pretty fun. The swinging carts to me feel like when you are on a swing at the park. They really don't slide all that fast...or maybe I am just crazy. LOL
Most people on here hate the wheel of death. I happen to like spinning, upside down, crazy rides... And dd and I think it is super fun. It does make dh nauseated.
I love roller coaster, love spinning, love swinging, but HATE the wheel of death. I think if there were seatbelts, or even a bar like on a normal Ferris wheel, I'd like it. But I don't.
I've never even been on the NON swinging ones because i'm so afraid. I just recently found my love for Twilight zone after bawling my eyes out from my first ride and nearly had to be carried off..
I kind of want to give it a try but am terrified of heights..but I still want to try..oh choices..
My family calls it Mickey's Wheel O'Terror. Did the swinging gondolas ONCE. Got horribly nauseated. The swinging that looks so gentle and tame from the ground is constant once you are up there. DH and I didn't lose our lunches but were glad when the ride finished. We then went on TSMM and that little bit of spinning between games finished us off! Even looking at King Triton's carousel afterwards made us green.
Really should be called the wheel of torture. I had never been on it and made the mistake of taking my 8 month old in a baby bjorn in a swinging car. I don't know why I thought it would be okay, but I was scared to death. NEVER AGAIN. You know it's bad when it's the only ride at DLR with motion sickness bags. I also find it strange that they're aren't seatbelts on the benches since it slams down pretty hard when it moves.
Oh gawd! Just the thought of getting into a non-swinging car gives me the willies. I'll get on California Screamin no problem, but try to get on a ferris wheel, any ferris wheel and I'll kick you and run.
Wow, I'm glad I read this thread. I was most likely going to try this ride, but I tend to get seasick feelings. I think we will pass on this ride! Or maybe be sure to request non swinging cars.
First time we rode it there was a longish line for one side and walk-on on the other side. How bad could it be? I did not think I was going to make it out alive (or at least with my lunch) but DH and DD (10 at the time) thought it was great.
On our first (and only) time in a swinging car, I made the mistake of really leaning forward to get a good picture - just as it started to swing. And each time I tried to climb into the seat, it would whip around again. My wife was laughing so hard, she could hardly stay in her seat. I'm sticking to rides with seat belts!
The first time I rode it, I had no idea some were swinging. I about had a heart attack. It was terrifying! I am not a fan of ferris wheels in general and was already freaked out but the swinging caught me off guard and I thought I was going to die.
