Mickey's Christmas Party

Who else went to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at MK this year and was surprised to see they were giving out postcards rather then a button when you get your photo taken? Talk about a disapointment! I have one from every year that I've been.

Yeah -- I had read that. Luckily I am not a button person. But the postcard was as cheezy as they come.
No glasses at MGM Osborne Lights. No buttons at the MVMCP, which is a hard ticket event.

Last night was my first MVMCP. It was nice. I like MNSSHP better. MVMCP I could pass on and not be too disapponited.

Yea, I thought the "No Button" thing was really crappy. Especially when they cost about 2 cents each.

But i have NEVER ridden as many rides as i did last night. My DS rode Splash Mountain THIRTEEN times.


And yes, I will go along with the consensus expressed on this board.

What makes the postcard even worse is it is nothing more than an advertisement promoting Mickey's Twice Upon A Christmas. ("Only On Disney DVD & Video")
Just plain ol' tacky and $ grubbing. Tis the Season.

I have my button collection from the past 6 years above my computer in my cube at work. No 2004 button..............

Disney has gotten cheap. No Rudolph flying during the fireworks. No holiday music with the surround fireworks.

Also disappointed that I tried to get a MVMCP t shirt (I was willing to pay the 20 bucks even after the additional price of admission ) only to find out that they were "sold out" fifteen minutes after they started selling them. This was on Dec. 7th with many MVMCP's left to occur. I realize they most likely limit the number they sell at each party, but for crying out loud, I just wanted one. Could they not sell them and limit them to one for each ticket holder?
The post card was a lame idea, however, our picture came and it turned out nice.

This was my first X-mas party, so I wasn't expecting a button, but I still thought the postcards were a little cheesy as a marketing ploy. We were there on the 16th, and at the end of the night, there were stacks of them on the turnstiles as we exited. I took a handful to send out to friends.

A relative was at Disney to see the xmas decorations and commented on how disappointing they were compared to years past. Just got back and have to agree. I can remember when they were once elaborate. Everything now seems to be the same.

I was also upset that they had sold out all of the good mvmcp shirts when we were there on Dec 7. You think disney would have been much smarter than that.
But later i couldnt find a Spectacle of lights t-shirt in size large or the Holidays around the World in sz large. I ended up buying a long sleeve t-shirt for the Holidays but nothing for the Lights. Overall i was disappointed in the items that wdw had for sale and bought less than what i wanted too, so i bought more at USF/IOA instead.
One positive thing though, we received 5 photos from mvmcp this year and the last time we only got one.

I was glad to see this annoyed some people. Me, I could care less about the buttons. But I remember two years I bumped into an older woman who had every button since the show began on her lanyard. Think she's dissapointed?

It's the little things guys. I hope you're listening! Because we're paying attention.

Every year, the policy has been one photo per ticket. We have always sent extras to the relatives up North.

This was our 10th consecutive MVMCP. It will also be our last. Higher price, no buttons, fewer photo locations, fewer cookie locations and fewer attractions open.

Typical Disney - charge more $$, deliver less.

We were really shocked that they did not have pins. I even bothered to ask a CM because I thought we just missed them someplace. We always get our picture done first and out of the way and get our pin.

Cheesy came to mind right away. I thought the post cards were a joke. They wound up in my bag and I found them when I came home. I sent one to a little sick girl wishing her better from Mickey. That was the only use I could think to use them for.

Pins really are cheap = add that to the price if you must. And I have never been able to play the game well enough to score a shirt. I look with envy whenever I see someone with one of those shirts.

Why not JUST SELL THEM for the length that the MVMCP runs?

We've collected the pins since we've been going (almost 10 years now), so I was real disappointed with the promo postcard that they 'dumped' on us on 12/3/2004.
I was glad last year when they started to send you a picture per ticket, previously they would insist on only 1 pic per family, despite the fact that everyone in the family paid for a ticket (that included a picture). So that old policy forced me to get multiple pictures from other locations in the park (you can't outsmart me!!!).
I didn't necessarily find this years cookies much better than the 'old' cookies (I'm not much of a cookie fan to begin with), but I definitely missed the 'thought' that went into the shapes of the old cookies and the festive sprinkles. I always made it a point to 'collect' all the different shapes to eat with our cocoa. When I asked what happened to the old cookies I was told that these were better...well that depends on your point of view, I feel that festively decorated, multiple Christmas shaped cookies better fit the 'party' than the big crumbly globs they called cookies this year.
By the way, I did find the 'old' cookies in with the deserts at Chef Mickey's last week, and they were SELLING them at the gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian...I guess they decided that they were too good to just give them away?!?
We love the princesses and princes on horses (or in horse drawn carriages), which were added to the parade last year.
We miss the Christmas show that they had at the Diamond Horseshoe, that was eliminated several years ago.
They also didn't have Santa flying down the cable, and instead had Tinkerbell.
Ironically, this year we paid significantly more for our tickets (only to get less), since Tasha was 11...I think next year I will buy her a child's ticket and save some money, too, like Disney did on buttons and cookies.

I wish they'd bring back the large white trees that were illuminated with blue lights on each side of the castle...they were special (that was back when they used real trees.)
It was nice that they pumped out snow on Main Street as we left after the fireworks last week, I wish they'd do that as you waited for SpectroMagic, and perhaps during the Xmas parade during the day (seems like the bubbles would still be seen as snow flurries during the day?!?)...you got the machines, use them.

This year was our first MVMCP. We were surprised by the crowds at first (12/3), seemed to be the most crowded we saw MK in 6 days. Towards the end of the night, we were riding everything multiple times. I thought the "perimiter firing" (as I learned it is called) at Wishes was worth the price of admission. It was one of my most magical moments at Disney ever.
