A little background:
For the 5 of us this would be quite an expense. However it is our first night that and my future Dil first time visit. I also adore Christmas time

Here is the concern. Dh and I went to the Halloween party in. 2015. Loved the forewords and the parade. Hated the lines.

We fly in on Dec 12. Tuesday's are supposed to be slower. We would do parade and fireworks but the bang for the buck for us would be riding tons of rides

Given this. Would you put out the money for the party? Tia

I'm not sure of the value of the rides during the party - just from my own research! I think you'll be there a slower week so it wouldn't be difficult to ride most of them with a good schedule on a regular day.

My justifications were a) I LOVE Christmas!!! b) I don't know if I'll ever be back again at Christmas since the next few trips will be around family schedules c) this was the one splurge for DH and I

I still don't think the cost is justified for what we want out of it but I'm beyond excited to be in Magic Kingdom with Christmas music and fake snow!! #dreamcometrue

It seems like a lot of money to me mainly to just to ride the rides that you can do on a regular park day.

Absolutely! MVMCP is one of our favorite Disney things to do!

Also factor in, we don't know what the closing schedule will look like. I don't know if it's some nights or all Christmas party nights that the park will close at 6. No one knows how Disney is going to handle that hour from 6-7 if you're a party guest.

Ideally, in past years, entering the park at 4 on party passes, you could still setup your fp's for rides and hit a lot of them because people were headed out (and crowds on party days are usually lighter bc non-hopper visitors won't tend to burn a full day pass on a park that closes really early).

Not sure if this helps you, but we are counting the party as a "park day" by entering around four (historically permitted) and staying until midnight. The cost for the party is about $10 cheaper on the day we're going than one day MK tickets would be. We're going to FP our must-dos before the party starts.

Some people here stay in the area for a long time, and if you're doing that then it's no doubt significantly cheaper to skip the party and just get 5+day tickets.

We're not staying long, we've never been to a party, or to Disney at Christmas. As such, the party was a main draw in coming, along with the general decor/holiday atmosphere on property. It sounds like your family's priority are the rides, so I'm not sure the value would be there.

Since you dislike lines, you could just enjoy walking around and seeing the entertainment, but it becomes a cost-benefit decision.

Hope you all enjoy your trip!

I would do it, if it were me There is only 1 time I felt the party was overcrowded, and that was in 2012. Plus, it was Christmas week. Since then I have attended 2 parties and 1 MNSSHP, all of which were delightfully less crowded. I didn't have any problem moving around and getting on rides. They let in at 4 pm, so you can get fast passes. We had ours from 3:10 - 4:10, 4:10-5:10 and 5:10-6:10. I don't think you can book anything after 6. Our 3:10-4:10 passes were for Space Mountain, so we had no problem making it.

It's magical! And there's snow on Main Street! You just gotta go!

I'd go but for the party itself and not to ride the rides. The rides are there all the time but the party stuff is unique to the party (parade, fireworks, special characters out, etc). If it's just for the rides I'm not sure it's worth the extra money. I've been to both the MNSSHP and the MVMCP and the Halloween party - to me - is much more fun. However if I was down visiting WDW during the party times - I'd probably want to go - but it seems a waste just for the rides you can do on other days!

I am one of those that does the parties in large part for the rides. The parade, fireworks, and theming are big pluses and I really enjoy them - but it's still all about rides for us. Other than things like 7DMT, I've typically found lines very low/manageable.

A Tuesday, second week of December? To me that's a nearly perfect time to go.

Question, that's your arrival day, no? Unless you have a crazy long travel schedule that day, still seems fine to me.

When you consider the entire expense of doing a Disney World trip I would use every possible moment to enjoy the parks. MVMCP takes an arrival day and makes it into a park day. Park time is precious; so, the more you can enjoy yourself the better.

If your priority are the rides that is fine. I think you will get more ride time the later it gets with less crowds.
