We'll be in Disney the week of the 14th and have been eyeballing the very merry christmas thingy one of the nights that we're there.

Question is, aside from a chance to hit the rides while most people's attention is diverted, and maybe bumping elbows to see a parade, is it worth the expense for a party of all adults? Or is it more geared for the little ones?

I've read the biggest con is the crowd size - if the atmosphere is more kid-oriented and less universal enjoyment, we might save the entry fee for somethin else.

What is the general concensus among the kidless?

I've got tickets for myself and my parents on 12/4/08. I've been one other time with a friend and we really enjoyed it. We were able to ride the rides we wanted without a long wait and we also saw snow on Main Street. Don't miss the hot chocolate & cookies, too. I'm looking forward to it again this year. It's a surprise for my parents.

If you really want to get in the holiday spirit, MVMCP is SO worth it, IMO. The first time DH and I (no kids) went it was only because friends bought us tix. We figured it would be lame and no way would we spend the extra $.

WRONG!

We've found in recent years that all the chaos before the holidays usually results in both of us just being grumpy and waiting for it all to be over. Going to Disney during the holidays has changed that, and it's now THE best part of our holidays, and MVMCP is a big part of that.

We bought our own tix last year and this year bought are bringing my aunt and uncle as an early Christmas present (they're in their 70s)

The atmosphere is fantastic - Christmas music playing, special lights, SNOW on Main St! There is special merchandise you can only get during the party, yummy FREE hot chocolate/cookies, a fun parade, terrific special Wishes fireworks and much shorter ride lines. We actually have found the crowds to be not that bad, but that probably all depends on when you go (we usually go during the week)

We're going 12/7. We'll have our Christmas Mickey hats on (yup, DH wore the hat and I have the pics to prove it!) and I'll be the 43 year old skipping down Main St singing along with the Christmas tunes. :santa:

We're going on Dec 4....there is NOTHING like snow on Main Street!!! I WAS from Texas...so this was extra special to me.

If you're going to go, stay away from Friday or Saturday night, the weekend produces more crowds because of the "Locals".

It is a Magical time for WDW....we will be donning our Mickey Santa ears for the occasion, too. DH is 43 and I am 46.

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

we are going the same day too !!!

If you see a crazy, singing lady with a Christmas Mickey hat skipping down Main St. with a tolerant, chuckling husband in tow (also with a hat on) - come up and say hi! :rotfl:

Hi:

I went last year with a boyfriend (we're old...very, very old), and I thought it was beautiful. Everything about it was just as adult oriented as it would be during the day, but with SNOW! and HOT CHOCOLATE! and a BEAUTIFUL PARADE!!!!

Hope you go and have fun.princess:

We went last year, I think it was 12/11, a tuesday. It..... Was... Packed... Sold Out. The parades, nuts to try to get a decent spot, fireworks, well I love them, so we did have a pretty good spot for those, but was packed in like sardines.. Ride lines, were still pretty bad, Mickey's night before xmas story thing, over packed..

Atmosphere? nice... Excitement level? people were having a great time.

Do it agian?? I dont think so. It was MUCH more crowded then any of the 'normal' days at the park.

DH and I will be at this year's party on 12/14 and 12/18. We love it so much that we're going twice. (We don't have children) The atmosphere is wonderful and 98% of the rides are walk-on! We spend one party enjoying the extra shows and the characters and the second anything we missed and we hit the rides hard. It's definitely worth it!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: This could be me and DH as well! Except my hat is Santa Stitch ears!!

I have never gone but I have seen all the events from the program. I usually go in December and stay long enough that these events become part of the regular day (starting around December 22/23). For example, the 'Twas the Night Before Christmas show is nice in the Galaxy Theater, the snow on Main Street along with the holiday parade, etc. Unless you are there a few days before Christmas through New Year's Day, you won't see these as the regular parade is done, not the Christmas parade, during the day and as far as I know, the only time the Galaxy Theater is used is for the 'Twas the Night Before Christmas show. The only time then to see these is during the Mickey's Christmas program. I think that you would enjoy it.

I'm going for a solo trip December 3-6 and I have my ticket for Dec 4th. This will be my first hard-ticket event and I can't wait! I hate living in California--it is just too far from WDW (and even though I love it, DLR is not the same thing)

I'm worried I won;t have enough time to do everything. Maybe I should buy another night too:santa:

We go just for the atmosphere. We ride a few rides, but not having kids around to have to take care of , makes the experience so much more exciting.:santa:

DH & I have no children, so all of our annual pilgrimages to The World are as single adults.
We never miss MVMCP and it is truly for the reason that is all over this forum. It is not just the Disney Magic, it is Holiday Disney Magic! It is spectucular, beautiful, and aw inspring!
It is true, in my opinion, that ride lines are shorter. I rode BTMRR 3 times in a row and did not have to even wait for even a minute. I rode Peter Pan without a line....Splash said 5 minutes but we walked up and got on....
Try it once.... :santa:

are there any special character at the christmas party? like the princes with the princessses?
