We were thinking of doing this? Is it worth it? Our sons will be 5 and 9 yrs old. Thanks! Have you ever gone when it wasn't busy or is it always busy because it is just 2 days a week?

Honestly we have done it and I just don't think it's worth the money. It's cute and all. But you can get better character meals with better interaction at many other places.

i have heard it is a mob scene, with getting a place to sit, getting your food, and getting to the characters. For the money, I would do a different character meal.

Garden Grill has Mickey, Pluto, and Chip and Dale.

We did the backyard BBQ in 2005 with our 3 1/2 year old. During the show, for about 3 sets, a country band played and the kids danced with the characters. A cowboy and cowgirl type host and hostess provided jokes and entertainment like rope tricks. My son really loved dancing with Mickey and Minnie and Chip and Dale. There were quite a lot of dance sessions. The kids don't get as much direct interaction time with the characters as they would get at a character meal per se, but they get much more time doing something with the characters as a group. In between dancing you eat at long picnic tables. Each table goes to the buffet in turn, and after that you can get seconds, and then desert. The venue is covered, but not air conditioned. It was hot! I think the sweet spot for the kids is probably 3-7 years old; a nine year old might like it, or might think it too young. Definitely something to do for your young kids first and adults second.
