Mickey's Backyard BBQ

We will be going to Disney World in June, and would like to know if you think the MB BBQ is too childish for the children that are going with us which are from 9yrs. to 15yrs. old.

It really depends on the kids. It's not really a "childish" event. I mean ... it's family oriented, but not specifically "little kid" oriented. I have a 19-year-old neice who loves it and a 10-year-old kid I babysit for who thinks it's dumb. Go figure.

Basically, if they like (or can tolerate without whining) BBQ food, picnics and country music, they'll have fun. If they cringe at the thought of line dancing, hate bugs and are staunch vegetarians, then you might want to try something else!

We did this a couple of years ago and while the food was good we had a hard time enjoying it because of the sweltering HEAT. It is under a pavillion but not enclosed or air-conditioned unless something has changed. The characters come out and lead a line dance but you can just keep right on eating if you don't want to participate. I don't think it is extremely childish, but would NEVER do this again in the summer.

Amen to that Laceemouse! We did this in June! It was hot, it rained, it was more humid then a sauna! The kids were tired and cranky...It was not a good night. the only highlight was when Mickey and Minnie were leaving the floor, they walked right by our table and stopped to wave and a nod to the boys. Our boys, I think, were too little at the time to let them just go up and take part of the dancing and such. I think now, they are almost 7 and 9, I would let them walk over and take part. I will never do this again in the summer time! hhhmm, maybe this December???
