we are going to be staying at POR and I would love to do this dinner. I have 2 questions.
What do you suggest regarding getting from POR to the dinner?
Also, I noticed on the seating chart "main floor" and "buffet" how do you get main floor seating not that it looks like a big difference. thank you

Bus to MK, then boat (green flag IIRC, but I could be wrong) to Fort Wilderness
Don't worry about seating. That will be taken care of when you arrive.

. . . take a taxi, less hassle
. . . you can taker a dedicated bus from the resort (ask the Concierge about it)

. . . there is no "main floor
. . . the BBQ only has one concrete pad for seating - everything is on the same level
. . . the sketch just shows the layout of the one-floor pavilion

Keep in mind that seating is first come, first choice. There is no assigned seating, so if you care where your family is situated, it is necessary to arrive early.

Our Ratings of Mickey's BBQ: (*rev 4/1/15*)
. . . food price value: D
. . . food quality: C
. . . food quantity per serving: A
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: C
. . . seating comfort: D
. . . eatery atmosphere: C
. . . eatery convenience: D
. . . staff friendliness: B
. . . staff attentiveness: B
. . . character interaction: B

NOTE1: Tables are long picnic tables of about 40 people per table, so you sit with
others. No reserved seating, so the "mad dash" for seats can be interesting.
There is no "front row", just the end of the picnic tables. Folks start lining up about 1-hr
prior to the 5:30pm seating. Also, the characters are at the very front interaction,
and usually do not go thru tables, so sometimes there is a long line trying to get to the
characters. Also noted the sides are open to the weather. They put up plastic diverters
for winter and simple fans for summer, but it does get VERY hot/humid or cold. This is
not a well heated or air conditioned pavilion. "Dancing" characters interact well with
kids in front of the stage, and younger kids love it.

NOTE2: Mickey BBQ was always about one-half the price of the Hoop Dee Do Review.
With the popularity of DDP, they jumped the price double, including 2-TS coupons.
WITH NO CHANGE IN MENUS; NO CHANGE IN CHARACTERS; NO CHANGES AT ALL. Cost
was barely justified at lower prices, and not worth the current price. At least just
not for ribs-chicken-burgers.

I love it!

I think it's the perfect atmosphere for families, specially those with young kids.

My husband thinks it's way too expensive for what it is, but I really enjoy the non stop food, the abundant Mickey bars, the show and the character interaction.

I think your best bet is to take a boat either from MK or from the Contemporary :)

Have a great time!
