Okay folks, I need some opinions!
We are planning our Oct. trip meals and I am wondering if we should do the Mickey's Backyard BBQ. It looks like fun- but how does it compare to Hoop-Dee-Doo? We do the HDDR each trip down and we all love it, but I don't think we'll be heading to Fort Wilderness twice- so it's one or the other!

Can I get opinions or thoughts on the BBQ? Exactly what goes down?

Thanks!

My family and I went to Mickey's Backyard BBQ in 2006. We enjoyed it. The food was your normal BBQ food. Ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, slaw, etc. Food was good and plenty of it. Everyone sits at long picnic tables. We had Mickey ice creams for dessert. The characters come out and visit with every family. We had pics taken and autographs signed. When we went there was a rodeo trick roper there putting on a show. The music was good and the characters danced with the kids. (A live country western band) We all enjoyed the BBQ. I would do it again. We sat on the beach and watched the sunset afterward. The memories are great!!:yay:

I've been to this twice and I love it! We don't have kids, but we still had great character experiences, and I like the rope tricks too. Here's a link to my report: http://bit.ly/iR2qM

In a way, it's more fun than Hoop Dee Doo and it's nice that the kids can run off energy and that you can easily leave early if you want.

You asked for opinions, so here's mine.
Our family didn't really enjoy this at all. It doesn't even begin to compare to the Hoop De Doo. We went in the summer and the heat was stifling in the tent. The fans made the noise unbearable. The food is nothing special. You sit at regular picnic tables and the whole thing has a first-come, first-served feel. It was not the fun, relaxing family time we were anticipating. At the end is a dance paty with the characters, but it was more like a Goofy mosh pit. The same 5 kids hung around each character, not giving anyone else a turn. The parents were no where to be found.

The highlight for my son was the all-you-can-eat dessert freezer. I think I lost count at 7 Itsakadoozies. He's 14 now still considers it his personal record for desserts.:)

I would love to hear about Mickey's BBQ too. We have this planned for Sept. 10th. I t looks like so much fun! Thanks! April

Thanks for posting that review and the included links.

I had originally booked HDDR and cancelled it for some of the reasons you describe in your review- wiggly kids, needing a more relaxed venue, etc.

Can't wait !
:-)
