We have 2 adults & 2 kids (ds 5 & dd4). Is the backyard BBQ as much fun as it looks? It it worth the price?

Do you know which days they do this - I think I read somewhere that it's Thursdays & Sundays.

We were going to book this for our first night at WDW. After a ton of research on different character meals we decided against this one. I heard the character interaction isn't very good there (they seem to zone in on one or two kids on the dance floor and forget the other 100 that are there). Also, it is very loud and hectic. The food was not that good and cold. This was reported by nearly ALL the reviews I had read.
If you do decide to go, I hope that it is not as bad as almost everyone has said. I was just afraid to spend that type of money on something we may hate and opted to enjoy something more people raved about.

Agreed.

I know we're in the minority, but we've gone twice and had a fun both times.

No, the food isn't fantastic - it's BBQ food - burgers, hot dogs, salad, watermelon, Mickey Ice cream bars (and beer/wine) The characters go around to the table for pictures AND are on the dance floor with the kids. My son was 3 when we went and still talks about dancing with "his girl" Minnie.

The dance floor gets crowded, and it is outside, so weather may be a factor. But if you go in knowing what to expect, it can be a lot of fun.

We did Mickey's BBQ last summer & loved it. There was plenty of food, all BBQ oriented, hot dogs, burgers, bbq chicken, etc. Also plenty of drinks (beer, wine, water, tea, lemonade) and desserts (mickey bars). All of the characters made their way to our table & took pictures with each of us (there were 6 of us). We steered clear of the dance floor, but it looked like a lot of fun (although also very crowded). Weather can be a factor as far as temperature, but since the BBQ is under the covered pavillion rain isn't as big a deal. It poured while we were there & we were barely aware of it! :rotfl:
