Does anyone have a review on Mickey's Backyard BBQ? If so, what does the meal consist of and how would you say that it compares to Hoop De Doo if you've done it before?

We did the BBQ about 4 years ago. It was OK, not fantastic. We had ribs, chicken & hot dogs. They had beans, slaw & corn on the cob (cold). It was picnic style (buffet line). The dancing was fun for the kids, characters danced also. Good photo opps. We wouldnt do it again. I remember grumbling a bit about food quality.

We really enjoyed the Aloha dinner show (poly). Family style, brought to you by a server. Food was fantastic!!! Kids could go on stage at the end and dance and take photos.......

Sorry, havent done hoop dee.

I remember way back when, the BBQ was about $10 pp cheaper, dont know if it is still that way or not. I would pay the extra $10 for Aloha or Hoop dee.

HDD food much better
HDD show much better

spend the money go to HDD

Barbeque..you would enjoy the food better at McD's
The day we were there it was hotter than hades under the pavillion(and we are veteran wdw commandos of aug heat)
The dancing was eh and I love to dance
I did post a review on the review board at all ears..you can guess mine was not the postive one

I took my DGD to the BBQ in August and found it to be a bit chaotic. While the food was good and there was plenty of it, the evening seemed to be overwhelming to the little one, and nerve wracking for me. The kids seemed to enjoy dancing with the characters, and there was plenty of dancing, but my little Princess was more comfortable with an orderly visit from the characters rather than having to meet them on a dance floor.

I think that if your family likes a frenetic atmosphere they will like this but if your family is not comfortable with a loud party atmosphere this may not be the place to go.

Once in May w/ my cousin's family - 3 adults and 3 kids, once in August w/ a different group 7 adults and 2 kids. While I enjoyed it more in May (it was more crowded and much hotter in August ) I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I thought the food was much better than HDD, which I found overpriced for the small amount of food we got. It was supposed to be all you could eat but they brought out one serving and never came back again. It may have been because we were only a party of two w/ no kids at the HDD.

One of our little ones is a popcycle freak and I think he ate about 5 (or at least had 5 melted all over him.

I guess I'm the lone one on my opinion but I thought the salad was excellent, the ribs and chicken were very good. Loved the watermelon and ice cream and overall had a great time.

However, I will say that in August we were on the DDP and paid out of pocket for this one - since we did several TS restaurants that were 2 credits we were going to have to pay OOP for something and this one (at ~$39 ) wasn't worth the cost of 2 credits. We used our 2 credits for the Luau.
