We're thinking of going the Mickey's Backyard BBQ when we go in Sept. OUr son will be almost 3. He is very active and I think he will like this meal.

Anyone take their toddlers to this? I would love to hear comments, experience, etc. I think it will be exhausting for DH and I as from what I read the characters don't go to the tables but the kids get up and dance with them etc. I don't trust letting my son go up by himself yet as he loves to run anywhere he can and has selective hearing as to when I say stop or no. So I think mom and dad will be running up and down with him so he can be by the characters.

Any input would be appreciated. Food is not most important here - I'm really curious about the experience and "fun" factor for everyone. As long as they have hotdogs DS will be fine!

Thanks!

We took DS last October. He was 2 1/2 and he loved it. Especially the mickey ice cream bars.

1. It is an open air pavillion and it can get warm in there, especially with the dancing. Dress appropriately. The night we were there was beautiful, but if it is humid it may be pretty warm.
2. Go early. There are lots of little games for the kids to do while you wait (and they walk around with beer/punch, yum!). Try to get a table close to the dancefloor so you can see the little shows from your seat. Also, the characters will be along the path back to the waiting area to pose for pictures if you get there early enough.
3. The first set or two of songs are crazy crowded with kids pushing and shoving everywhere. It is so bizarre, but everyone leaves after about an hour and then it is GREAT. Lots of character interaction and room to dance around. Stay until the end! They also do a cute little show at the end.

We all had a great time and would go back. The food is nothing special, but it really hit the spot and was tasty and plentiful. The atmosphere was fun and all of us enjoyed it!

We have taken our son to this twice already! The last time was in May & he turned 2 in March. Saying he loved it would be an understatement! It is such a blast watching the kids dance with the characters. You do have to watch them closely though...there are very pushy kids out there! :-) The PP is right...most people head out after like an hour and a half when the characters leave...but they do come back and then your child will be able to get autographs and dance with them with less people around. And the food was pretty good too!

Thanks for the input! Sounds like DS will have fun - plus I've never been and I'm looking to do new and different things this trip. So far I'm planning on booking a fishing trip (It's a Father's Day gift for DH) - His first time fishing with his son will be at Disney - how great is that. And now I'll go for Mickey's BBQ.

Now I just have to wait for the Sept. schedule to come out and my 90 day mark to get here so I can book my ADRS.

Thanks!
