Booked Mickey's Backyard BBQ for Saturday, Nov. 5th. Can anyone give me their experience with this dinner? Is it worth the 2 table service credits?

It will be me, dh and ds (almost 6).

Thanks.

We did it last trip and it was cute. I only recommend it if you have kids that like to get up and dance.

You get there and sort of stand in line to get in, while meeting Chip and Dale in the process. Then you are seated at long picnic table. It is a buffet so you get up and get your food and sit back down. It is typical picnic food. Then the show starts (food stays available the whole time). There is singing and lassoing etc. The character do a little dance, and then invite the kids to get up and dance with them.

My kids dont dance and this was very boring for them and I know they wouldnt want to go back.

So yes it is totally worth it if you have outgoing kids who arent afraid of the characters that will run around and have a great time. If you have shy kids, no probably not.

If you do go, afterwards we went over to Chip and Dales Campfire. That was really cute too.

It's really for kids who want to dance with the characters. It seems that otherwise, except for the bottomless beer/wine, you might as well eat at Trails End. You could do Trails End and then the campfire, I think the campfire still doesn't cost anything extra unless you want to buy some marshmallows.

Thanks for your honest reviews guys. My son is a dancer so this could be right up his alley. On our last cruise he accepted the invitation to get up and dance with the break dancers during one show. He is a riot!

Any one else have any experiences they can share?

Be prepared when you go for how big FW is!! We tried to go last year to the campfire and missed it b/c we were wandering around aimlessly looking for it. Come to find out, you have to get on an internal bus. We finally gave up after waiting forever for the bus. Then we got back to the boat dock to find a huge crowd waiting for ferries b/c the BBQ or HDDR or something had let out. It was terrible!
I would venture out there again, now that I sort of know where to go...but plan accordingly. I'm SURE DH won't allow us to try for the campfire again anyways.:headache:

Well my kids love it! We were in WDW for 10 days last fall for DS's 4th birthday and we did Mickey's BBQ twice! We are just starting to look at dining options for our next trip and already DS has said Mickey's BBQ is his one "must-do". It is different from any other dining experience we have been to at WDW.

Our kids loved it!! We've been twice & were really bummed because it was only offered twice during our last trip & it was all booked!!! The first time we drove & rode the infernal bus, the next time we were staying at CR so we rode the boat over. How can you go wrong with all you can eat Mickey Bars???:confused3

Thanks for the tips and the great pitures. I have ZERO sense of direction so it is good to know that I should figure in some time to find the BBQ spot. It amazes me how huge some of the resorts are.

Getting to the BBQ is not as big of a deal as has been previously stated - bus to MK (or plan that as your MK day and leave from MK), and they have a direct boat over to a dock that is only a few hundred yard walk to the Backyard BBQ pavilion. Just leave MK early enough to not be far back in the boat line - it's a smaller boat and if you cut it too close and miss the boat then you could end up being late for the start of the BBQ. It's probably a 20 minute boat ride.

We've done it twice - it's fun, but after our second one this year I'm not as big on it as I was after the first time. The food this time was much poorer quality than I remembered it last time - ribs werent great, burgers and dogs were low quality, corn and salads were not great either. The food quality is a pretty big negative in terms of us thinking of doing it again.

The positives are:
- the included wine and beer, and being able to walk up to get them (not wait on waiters to bring to you).
- kids dancing with characters
- unlimited walk up ice cream cooler (same bars they sell throughout the parks)
- while costing you 2 credits, it does save you on the tip (included with ddp on this one)

Ultimately, I'd say yes, it's still worth the 2 credits, but I'm not as enthusiastic about it as I was after our first visit.

My dd loved it! For us, it was fun to sit and relax while watching her dance to her hearts content. We took the boat over from MK (allow at least an hour). The food wasn't sensational, but good and the atmosphere was fun as long as you like loud country music. We had a good time.

The walk to the campfire isn't that difficult. Walk to the bus stop and turn left, then take the first right after that. From the BBQ pavilion, it's 0.7 miles per google pedometer.

I found the found to be the worst by far of every show/buffet. The burgers were cold versions of what you get in the parks and the rest of the food was no better. They ran out of ice cream and did not refill it so many did not get dessert. (The people next to us piled a plate with a ton of ice cream bars and let more than 1/2 of them melt)

The dancing was good, but my 7 year old son got bored of it very quickly and then there is not much else to do.

If it is a pick one scenario, I would go with the Spirit of Aloha show or Hoop Dee Doo (My favorite) over the BBQ in a second....
