Does anyone know what days of the week Mickey's Backyard Barbecue are held? Our family would like to attend this when we visit in October. The dates are not out yet as far as we know. Different guide books give different days of the week that the barbecue is held on.....one says Wed. and Sat....one says Tues. and Thurs. Does anyone have any information about what days it was held last year? We are trying to do some early planning for the days of our visit. We want to include Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party for the kiddies. Our visit will be from a Wednesday to the following Monday. Any info from people who have gone to these would be appreciated. Thanks.:wizard:

I know that it will be on Sat. night b/c we just booked it for March. If you go to the WDW website and look under dining, pull up Mickey's BYBQ and it will give you the exact dates.

We've been to MBYBBQ....Out of all my dining experiences....and we do a character dining a day....this was my least favorite. I'm supper tense about keeping track of my kids and the picnic pavillion was MAYHEM. I had envisioned outdoors with lots of elbow room and picnic tables with characters wandering about. Not so. It's wall to wall end to end picnic tables with a small dance floor. When the characters are dancing with the kids it's virtually IMPOSSIBLE to keep track of them. If your kids are older you may not have that concern. Mine were 5 and 8.

As far as the food it was mediocre. I think my food at any other character dining was better.

Live and learn. I'm going to try the hoopdedoo thing next time. I've heard many more positive responses to that.

We are not fans of the barbeque. Food was just OK. Area the pavilion is in also is an area where you will find a lot of mosquitos. Music was not that appealing and characters are more or less overwhelmed with kids in line. The Hoop-Dee-Doo, mentioned above by TAS is the best dinner show at WDW and definitely worth doing.

Mickey's Backyard Barbeque focuses on country music, line dancing, roping demos. It is in an outdoor pavilion, food is served in a buffet line, and seating at picnic tables. DH and I celebrated an anniversary there and had a super time. The food is prepared in the same kitchen at HDD, and while we missed the strawberry shortcake, the ribs and chicken tasted pretty much the same to me.

YMMV
