we are tried and true Hoop Dee Doo die hards, but i am wondering if any of you out there have done both and if one beats the other in your opinion and why?

we have never done the BBQ and i am wondering if DD (age 3 on next trip) will like it better than the Hoop Dee Doo. what about logistics too - (i believe the BBQ is buffet, does that make it harder getting little ones fed?)

I didn't really like the Backyard BBQ so much - and I'd been sooo looking forward to it! It didn't seem worth the money to me.

I love the Hoop de Doo. But there are people who like both too. :)

I was not all that impressed with it either. The food was ok but it really was nothing more than waiting in line yet again for character autographs. I didnt think it was worth the money.

Mickey's BY BB-Q is only thursday and saturday. this might help make your decision. March-December only. 6:30p

I found it was great for kids of all ages (which we had). I have kids ranging in age from 4-21 and we went a couple of times a couple of years ago. I found the entertainment fun, dancing for everyone, food was ok. (nothing to write home about, but certainly edible. I liked that you could come and go at will and could leave when you were done. All of my kids had a blast.

We have been to Mickey's BBQ once, HDD several times. The food is similar, except BBQ is in an outdoor pavilion, no AC, and you serve yourself and sit at long picnic tables with other guests. No strawberry shortcake at BBQ, just marble cake. There is line dancing, visits with characters in cowboy costumes, roping, special dances for anniversaries, birthdays, etc. Wine and beer are available along with lemonade, soft drinks. I think they are both fun, HDD seems to grab us more.

At this point we have only done hoop dee doo. This may we are doing both. We love the fort. I plan on walking around some too. I will let ya know how they both compare after, if I remember lol.

We've done both, on our upcoming trip we are doing HDDR. The barbecue is great for character access, mickey, minnie, goofy, donald and chip and dale. The HDDR now has pricing based on where you sit, this is different than the last time we went(2003). Overall we like HDDR better.
