Okay, so my onslaught of questions for everyone continues. I will try and make this my last thread!

So first one,

Mickey Waffles, where art thou? I miss these immensely and am looking to get my hands on as many as possible. I am a breakfast food aficionado and I can devour plates of eggs, bacon, hot cakes, french toast, waffles, omelettes and the like.

Looking on the Disney Store, the autograph books are a little bit lacklustre, is the selection the same in the parks or can I look forward to a better selection. I was thinking about ordering online but if there is a better selection I may hold off.

Also can I bring say snacks and drinks into the park or is outside food not allowed.

Thanks!!!:earboy2:

Mickey Waffles are definitely at the Plaza Inn, yummy. The character breakfast is awesome!

Bring your own autograph book, they will not mind that at all, just make sure that the Pen is bulky enough for the characters to hold. The ones on the park are similar to those on-line. You will have to decide if you want to bring one along or not.

You should have no problem with snacks, picnic baskets or coolers full of food are discouraged. We always have some munchies in a back pack when we go to the park, alas we almost never eat them in the park. You can bring a water bottle that you can refill if you want.

Would a standard sharpie pen do the trick? Thank you for answering all of my questions.

is that the only place to find Mickey Waffles?

Carnation Cafe has a Mickey waffle. Plaza Inn Minnie's character meal and Carnation Cafe are the only places inside Disneyland to get Mickey waffles. River Belle Terrace in DL has Mickey pancakes. No Mickey waffles that I know of inside DCA, but there are Cars waffles on the kid's menu at Flo's. Outside of the parks, I had heard that Mickey waffles are available at Whitewater Snacks inside the Grand Californian. I have seen them at Goofy's buffet.

There's two different types of Mickey Waffles - the 'big size' fresh kind and the ones that appear to be premade and whole grain. Carnation Cafe has the real deal, while the other places mentioned have the other ones.

Yes a standard sharpie should work, but they typically use oversized pens, with the autograph packages. Most of the characters have excellent signatures, and the sharpie may be a tad ovesized. Get a better pen, as I saw a number of times the pens breaking when the character was signing.

Any of the places that serve breakfast "should" have the Mickey Waffles, personally I have had them in the resturant in the Grand Californian, in the PPP, and in the Plaza (most recently), if you search the menus, and they show waffles, they will be Mickey Waffles ( in the park of course)

I don't know if this has changed -- maybe someone can confirm or deny -- but I believe that there used to be a full-size, large Mickey waffle (like the one at Carnation Café) served for breakfast at Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel. In fact, they used to serve the full-sized waffles at Storytellers Café for breakfast too, when ordering off the menu was an option. Now that it's all buffet, it's only the small Mickey waffles, I would guess.

There is a 60th Anniversary Autograph book not available online. You can see both the autograph and autograph/photograph book here:

Surf's Up at the PCH Grill has the small Mickey Waffles.

In terms of food...yes, you can bring in snacks and drinks (non-alcoholic and in non-glass containers) to the parks. You cannot bring anything in a glass jar, nor can you can bring in the components for making things like sandwiches (a pre-made sandwhich is fine).

Thank you! No character meal for me so I guess carnation cafe will be the solution!

Awesome, thank you for letting me know where to get the good ones! I just need to find one of their waffle irons!

Okay, thats excellent advice, I will look for an oversized pen and will bring a couple back up ones for our trip!

hmmm, that's a shame, I will find my way to Carnation Cafe then! I need me some Mickey Waffles.

Thanks a lot, I think I will have to wait for the 60th Anniversary one!

We use retractable sharpies with our autograph books and they work great! I make my own book (and print through Shutterfly) and the sharpies are the best. They don't smear, bleed through, or dent the pages. They are also a good size for character hands.

At the Storytellers Cafe I ask for a Mickey Waffle from the kitchen instead of the small ones they serve at the buffet. The small ones are like the ones they have at White Water Snacks, look like they were frozen and microwaved.,hard as a rock. The one from the kitchen is large and soft, fresh, yummy, with fruit.

I am a connoisseur of Mickey Waffles. LOL.

I know most (not all) of the places that serve Mickey Waffles (except DCA, not sure about Ariel's Grotto).

Outside the Parks

Disneyland Hotel
- Goofy's Kitchen - small mickey waffles
- Tangeroa Terrace - small mickey waffles
- Steakhouse 55 - not sure

Grand Californian Hotel
- Storyteller's Cafe - small mickey waffles with buffet; large mickey waffles ordering off the menu
- Whitewater Snacks - small mickey waffles

Paradise Pier Hotel
- Lounge area - large mickey waffle
- Buffet - small mickey waffles

Inside the Parks

Disneyland
- Carnation Cafe - large mickey waffle
- Plaza Inn - small mickey waffles

As I currently do not have a park pass, I like to eat the small mickey waffles at Tangeroa Terrace. Kid's meal has two mickey waffles, turkey bacon, cup of fruit, and kid's drink for $6.49. Adult meal has three mickey waffles, choice of bacon or Portuguese sausage, and cup of fruit for $7.99

I thought that Storytellers Café no longer offers menu orders for breakfast, and that it's all buffet now?

Really? It's been a few years since I went there, but I remember their large waffle and orange juice being $18 and was like, WHAT????

The menu prices were pretty crazy! I always remember thinking that it was better to just get the buffet, as there wasn't a huge price difference from the menu items. Then, just recently on this board, someone mentioned that Storytellers was now buffet only for breakfast -- which I had somehow missed hearing about when it first went into effect. :lmao: So I wasn't sure if it had changed back to menu orders too, but I guess not.

A fellow connoisseur of Mickey Waffles! I think we could be friends!! Thank you for all of the info!

Thanks Sherry for getting the most recent information sorted out!

It's been stated, but I'll restate that officially no outside food is allowed outside of baby food or specific medical needs. The unofficial policy is that you can bring stuff in as long as you don't overdo it. A picnic basket probably won't be allowed. Separate sandwich fixings will likely keep you from getting in. Some people have been found assembling sandwiches and told to leave or throw them away. Cooler size should be pretty small - the one I took literally barely held a six-pack, but a little bit larger probably won't draw scrutiny. Nothing on wheels though unless it's for a medical need (some medications need to be cooled).

I've done some things that drew the attention of Disney CMs. Once I spilled a can of Coke, and as a CM approached me. I was thinking maybe I was in trouble for the outside beverage, but she just came over to reassure me that I didn't have to clean it up myself. Another time some snacks dropped from an outside backpack pocket while loading on the Haunted Mansion, and a CM picked it and tossed it back to me just as the safety bar came down.

Love, love, love that photo/autograph book for the 60th! I've always gotten the photo/autograph books for WDW and put a picture of my child with the character opposite the autograph. They love looking at them later. Does anyone know if I can buy that one online before I go?

You cannot bring anything on the prohibited items list: https://disneyland.disney.go.com/faq/parks/permitted-items/
Otherwise they won't say anything about food at bag check.

We had The.Worst. Ever. security CM in June. She seriously checked *every* pocket of *every* bag while at least 10 people flew the lines next to us (per person and we had a party of 8). She said nothing about all the food I had for my kids. The young lady ahead of us had a glass iced coffee beverage so she made her poor it into a cup (but even provided a paper cup).
