Mickey Waffler, Single or 4 in 1????

That was definitely an act of love  , making 2 small pancakes at a time, but they really liked them and we were on vacation and the weather was terrible that day.

LIFERBABE, you're a sweet mom!

I don't want to start a debate, but we stayed 16 nights in a DVC (which already has a kitchenette) studio over Christmas and my gift
******
No debate there..you had a kitchen and it's meant to be cooked in. Thanks..I can't wait to try using it for stuff other than pancakes...although I'm not sure what it would do to the hot dogs!

To make the cakes - do you use the same amount of cooking time? What a cool idea. I also find that it makes them more like pancakes than waffles but I was never very good at making pancakes anyway - so now I am. I'll try the thinner idea.

I have the single, and I love it. I just start making them before we plan to eat, and then put them on a cookie sheet in a warm oven until they are all done. It works well for me that way. I like the single also because they are so much bigger than the 4 in 1 maker.

Oooh, I should have read page 2 before I posted. I too would love to know more about using the cake mix!!!!

DMRick LOL! As long as you dont press it down on the hot dogs, it just grills them on top and bottom. I hate microwave hotdogs, and all I had in the studio was the microwave toaster and the Mickey Waffler, so I worked it out! We had chili dogs one night.
And that debate remark was for those with selective reading that would say Im subliminally telling everyone to cook in their rooms at WDW :D

Barb and Elgerber,

As for the cakes, you want to fill the Mickey to the brim, so that when it rises, it makes contact with the top of the waffler. I usually let mine cook for 2 cycles (when the red light goes on/off) but just check the first cake to make sure its how you want it. They cook all the way thru just like cake in the oven. They tasted the same too. It's actually quicker and a cute idea for a tea party or birthday where everyone can decorate their own instead of having a big cake. We stacked ours like a layer cake and frosted it.

What gave me the idea, was the tag on the waffler says "try our 3 bakers" and has pictures of the sandwich maker and the quesadilla maker. They didnt look that much different to me other than the shapes so I thought, Why Not?

Im happy one of my zany ideas actually worked! My Dh just shakes his head, and eats what I give him. LOL!

I can't wait to try the cake idea. I made waffles last night. I used Jiffy for the recipe instead of the book that came with it. They tasted like waffles to me and were easier to mix. I didn't even think to make extra and freeze them - duh I just thru out the remains. Next time I'm home, I'm going to make waffles to freeze and some cake :)

I love my Mickey Waffler (the single) - I had never made waffles at all. But my DH loves having Mickey waffles when we're in the "world" so it the waffler was actually a Christmas gift for him.....along with me making them for him. We have waffles 4 or 5 times since Christmas. And the cake idea sounds GREAT!! I will have to try that. Thanks for the ideas.

I usually make a big batch and freeze them. You can toast them just like eggo's.
You are a genius. Thanks for the tip.
I have used the Jiffy recipe too and it was okay but lately I have been using Belgian Waffle batter mix by Kruetzes (or something like that) It is pretty good.
As long as we are talking about creative waffling there was a post a while back about making Mickey banana bread. That sounds fun.

I've spent an afternoon today making waffles in my new Pooh and Tigger waffle maker that I ordered a while back when the Disney store had them on sale. I have the Mickey waffle maker too, but I decided I'd just make a batch of the Pooh waffles and try it out. I used the Bisquick recipe for whole wheat waffles, and also the chocolate waffle recipe, and they baked up very nicely. I froze both batches so all my kids have to do is pop them in the toaster in the morning. I love the Pooh and Tigger waffles---they just really turned out cute! I'm glad someone here reminded me about making them to freeze. I've been buying the frozen waffles from the grocery store, so this is much better, cuter, and cheaper! I'm definitely going to try the cake idea in the Mickey waffler.

We did have a snow delay on Wed. and the "waffles" came out great. Although my 4 year old insisted they were Mickey PANCAKES! The cake idea sounds great. Maggie

Thanks LIFERBABE, I made quesadillas in my Mickey waffle maker last night and my daughter thinks I'm a genius. They were really good!

I just bought the princess waffler at Home Depot last weekend. They had them marked down to $19.99! :cool1:

I hope I can find a Princess waffle maker this weekend. I have Pooh and Mickey, and I can't make enough of these waffles to last through the week for my family! I just make them up and freeze them, and then we toast them in the oven (I have decided that they heat better that way!).

The Disney Direct website has the Pooh waffle maker for about $24 with the discount code this morning. I think it's really my favorite waffler, and the waffles look just like the ones they serve at the Crystal Palace breakfast.

I tried making cake in my waffler this past weekend - they turned out GREAT!! Thanks for putting the idea in my head!

How long did you let it cook? We make waffles from the Trader Joe Chocolate pancake mix, they are really cakey.

I am going to try the cake as a specail treat sometime.

Liferbabe-thanks for the cake tip! My DD's 2nd birthday was last Friday and we had planned to have a Pooh cake with Grandma on Sunday but I wanted to do something for her on the actual day. I made her Mickey cakes using my 4-in-1 waffle maker and they came out great. My DS(4) walked into the kitchen saying: "I smell something. It smells GOOD." And boy did it smell great cooking those mini-Mickey's. I made 12 mini-Mickey waffle cakes and another 12 cupcakes with the 1 cake mix box.

Thanks again they were a huge hit. Maybe I'll check out Home Depot for the single Princess waffle maker.

I made chocolate cake this weekend in my Mickey waffler!!! They are so cool. Of course, my kids have only had one, and I'm the one eating the rest LOL. Thanks for the great tips!!

That is so great that everyone is having so much fun with their wafflers!

Small kitchen appliances are my best friend! I've completely run out of room so I needed to find some multi purposes for what I already have. I always wanted a quesadilla maker and now I dont have to buy one!
