Mickey Top Hats???

I know I read on here that they have not been discontinued, but my parents were in WDW this week and checked around everywhere for the Mickey ear top hats and they were nowhere to be found They asked cashiers in two different stores and one store said they are just out of stock and they would be getting more in within the next few months. The other store said they are being discontinued

Anyone had any luck seeing or purchasing these hats over the past few weeks?

I am off to WDW tonight, will keep my eye out and report if I see any, was just there a little while ago and I don't remember seeing them, just the new beanie kind with the tux. If I can I'll stick my head in the Chapeau at MK and see what's up.

DH and I have a set of top hat and the older headband bridal ears from an anniversary trip we took years ago. Now I am sorta glad we saved them just in case we want to use them again for our VR rehearsal.

We went to Epcot and Downtown Disney last Saturday and didn't see the hats anywhere. When we asked an employee at the World of Disney store, he told us they were discontinued. Lurkyloo said when she asked around that they were NOT discontinued, so I'm hoping that she's right and they're just waiting to resupply the stores with them.

I purchased my DF's hat off yourwdwstore.com back in August, and still haven't received it. When I asked why, they said they were waiting to get them from the warehouse. Then another DISer said when she went to that website, it said they were back-ordered until October.

So, unfortunately I'm not much help to you. I just thought I'd share my experience so far. I'm just going to keep hoping they're out of stock and not discontinued. Good luck to you!

I was looking for one of those as well. A poster on another magical board found a set of used ones for me so I snapped them up in case Disney doesn't release more. I really want a brand new pair for DF to wear for our civil ceremony (we're having a DCL wedding) and for the MK photo shoot, but if worse comes to worse at least we have a used pair as backup. I really hope you find a pair! I went to DFTW facebook page and posted a comment about the MIA top hat ears and quite a few other brides agreed with me, so maybe Disney will notice and get some more. Ugh, I hope they are not being discontinued. The top hat ones are much classier looking. I think the tuxedo ones are really silly looking & my DF would never wear the tuxedo one-it took me weeks just to get him to agree to the top hat lol! I guess I will just buy it on Ebay.

Yeah, I really really REALLY do not like the tuxedo hat. You'd think that they would know that people like the top hat better with people calling and asking around if they have it. I'm thinking I might take a drive down there this weekend to DTD and check around. I checked eBay and put myself on the waiting list on Your WDW Store.

In a pinch, you could always just make your own. We made bride and groom baseball caps by detaching the ears from a bridal headband and a regular set of mouse ears and affixing them to "bride" and "groom" hats. But I've seen others do the same thing with top hats they bought (white for the bride, black for the groom). Just be sure to use an industrial adhesive like Barge or DAP, not hot glue.

I was at WDW a couple of weeks ago and looked all over for the top hat. It is perfect that Carrie posted the baseball caps they made because her PJ is who I thought of when we couldn't find any top hats! I remembered her post and I thought well worse case I will buy a top hat and make our own!

We spent the last 10 days there and didn't see any of the top hats. We also had several cast members and guests come up and ask where we got ours because they can't find them anymore. They seem like they would be easy to replicate. Find a sturdy top hat, get some regular mickey ears, cut them off and staple them to the top hat. That's how the disney top hat groom's ears are made. They just stapled ears to a top hat. HTH
