Ok, I need help. A few years ago, actually many years ago I used to save my soaps and shampoos and mail it to a "soap/shampoo godmother" of sorts. (she is from another site) Well, I am just returning from 9 glorious days, only to find out that my saving is no longer needed. Any idea what to do with these? I just can't bring myself to use them.. seems almost morally wrong. Is there anyone out there that can put these babies to good use? TIA

Take them to your nearest battered women's shelter. They will be thrilled to get some nice-smelling soaps and good shampoos for the ladies and their children.

Do you have a family shelter near by? I know that many of the shelters around here would be very thankful for such a donation, I say family because I am assuming that at least some of them have mickey on them :)

why I come here. What am AMAZING idea! Thank you all so much, I am going to drop them off tomorrow...

Another good place is your local hospice. Our school does a collection every year for the local hospice and that is one of the most requested items. They have to purchase the basic necessities themselves.

Or if you are close to a Ronald McDonald house. I am sure those that are staying there would appreciate one less thing to have to worry about.

Now that thats settled, what the heck is a 'soap godmother'?

The hard soaps from motels I keep for a friend who goes on Global Medical Trips each year as they are handed out to the clients at their medical, dental and vision clinics. Liquid soaps, shampoos, and lotion I donate to (1)our state women's prison through the Women at the Well ministry as the prisoners have to purchase toilet articles or (2)homeless shelters. All are greatly appreciated.

I donated ours to the Ronald McDonald House in Washington, DC. They were happy to have them.

I have hundreds if not thousands....in a 10 gallon drum. I just save them..no plans on doing anything with.

Just a few months ago we took our of our unopened hotel size bottles and soaps to the battered women's shelter. They were thrilled.

Actually we took an entire box of bathroom items. I'm really bad about buying up stuff when it goes on clearance. When I do this I don't think about my allergies. I'll see lotion on clearance at an awesome price and buy up all the bottles. Once I get it home I try a little and don't like it. So all the bottles go to the women's shelter. I don't really mind buying them and not being able to use them since I donate them anyway. I even donate the extras you get at the makeup counters since I don't wear makeup. I bought some face lotion and they gave me free makeup. These women in the shelters mostly come with nothing more than the clothes on their backs so why not donate it and help them get a little normalcy in their lives.

As you start to bring out your winter clothes consider taking items you no longer wear with the shampoo and soap.

How on earth did you get that many? Have you thought of donating them? I'm sure any of the places people have listed would LOVE to have them especially as tight as money is for everyone right now.

We donate soaps, shampoos, etc. to our local homeless shelter. They are very appreciative of the donations.
