I know this will be a silly question, but I have to ask. Will there be enough shampoo/soap/lotion/conditioner left by mousekeeping for a family of 6 to use each day? I have been debating whether or not to pack our own but then I see the posts about the Mickey items and wonder if I might be overpacking!

Yes You should have enough, if not leave a note. You do not get cond so pack your own. That is all I bring besides my face stuff & sunscreen.

I think it depends where you stay. At ASMu, we only got bars of soap, no shampoo...

We are staying at CSR in a Jr suite, 6 in our family. I wondered if staying value/mod/deluxe played into or not. Hopefully not!

We stayed at Pop and we had tons our mousekeeper kept leaving us soaps and shampoo's even tho we were not using them so I started to pack them to take home and they kept comming hehe

How much shampoo do you use? The mickey shampoo is cute but I never use it anymore, that stuff turns my hair into one big knot :scared: and there is no conditioner. The bar soap is fine (as long as you don't all mind using the same bar of soap) and they give more every day. If I did use the shampoo I don't think I could get more than 2-3 washes out of the entire bottle. I always just pack a shampoo and conditioner in either a travel container or half-used bottles from home and then just leave the bottles there when we leave - one less thing to bring home :)

I am a family of 6 and I always ask for more soap and shampoo. I have 4 girls and with long hair we need it.

At ASM the shampoo was in the shower dispenser with the soap. I didn't use it because it knotted my hair, but worked well for boys with short hair.

We just returned from POP last month.

There were 4 of us in the room & mousekeeping just kept leaving 1 bottle of shampoo. Everyday we would have to ask for more.

If there is not enough left for you all you have to do is ask for more. They will bring you the designated amount you asked for without a fuss! I tend to either bring my own or buy some at the local Walmart because it tends to dry my hair out.

i always bring ours from home !!! i hate how they dont give us enough

Ditto the knots in the hair. It is a very drying shampoo - I never use hotel shampoos - always travel with my own shampoo and conditioner. (we also have soft water at home and hotels always have hard water)

Soap should be fine.

For our 8 day trip in October I just brought a big bar of soap and a big bottle of shampoo. I packed up the little ones from Mousekeeping each day to bring home and donate to charity. We still had a fair amount of shampoo left in the big bottle at the end of the trip, so I brought that back home.

If you have a favorite brand of soap and shampoo I would just bring your own. We also brought a bottle of pump hand soap to use at the bathroom sink - much easier than using the bar soap. :)

The bottle of Mickey Shampoo I just brought home last week from the SSR has conditioner in it.

I always pack my own shampoo and soap. Then I bring home all the soap Mousekeeping leaves in the room and add them to the shoeboxes I make up each Christmas that I donate to Samaritan's Purse.

There was plenty. I left an envelope (each dated and made out before we left) with 2 dollars for mousekeeping everyday. We got extra shampoo and soap and sometimes our towels folded in disney shapes and my 3 yr olds bob the builder toys would be "doing" things around the room when we came back. We had 3 rooms and I was the only one who did this and everyone agreed ours was cleanest too. :)

Is the shampoo really that bad? I so do not need knotted hair while on vacation!

It's no worse than any other hotel shampoo. If you use a less expensive shampoo at home then it would probably be similar to what you are used to. If you use salon shampoos (like Paul Mitchell etc) or any shampoos with conditioners in them, you will not be happy with the results.

It is worse for longer hair than short hair. My DH has short hair that is more coarse (not really coarse, but more so than my fine hair) and he doesn't have any problems with shampoo at hotels. My long fine hair just ends up a knotted frizzy mess.

(I won't even use the shampoos they provide at upscale hotels like the Westin etc. It's just not right for my hair type)

I always bring my own shampoo and conditioner the combination of pool water and hot sun KILLS my hair. I do use the soap and lotion and really like them, they have a nice, non-overbearing sent. My nephew always uses the Mickey shampoo and it works great for him. They will give you as much as you want. My mother always ask for more and usually by the 2nd or 3rd day they just start leaving double of everything, (saves them the trip of coming back up when she calls for more). Trust me they will give you as much as you want...we always pick on my mother because she never comes home with less then 12 sets of shampoo/conditioner/soap and lotion...
