Yet ANOTHER question. This happens to me everytime it gets to less than a week when I have to go :headache:

We bought Mickey rain ponchos last time we were there (Hurricane Wilma, oh it was fun  ). One of them ripped around the neck just before we came home but we didn't bother to get it replaced.

Did I read somewhere that they will replace these ponchos if they rip or am I having another DUH moment

Thanks everyone -

They replaced one of mine, and one of my sons, without me asking (they noticed they were ripped). That was quite a few years ago, though, so don't know if it holds true today!

Sounds like something they would do.
(They have even been known to give out new batteries for Pal Mickey.)

:thumbsup2

but they are not going to replace the ones you bought then for a new one now. they will know too since they have changed the design on the back of them.

I miss the bright yellow ponchos! Boooooo clear ponchos! That is great that they'll replace them though.

There is a VERY good SAFETY reason for the clear ponchos.

It used to be when the rain appeared, there suddenly several THOUSAND "identical-looking" kids and parents, trying to keep track of each other.
I mean to say that if you blinked, you could lose track of which "yellow cone" was YOUR child in the crowd. Scary!

That is a far more real and dangerous situation for separating children from their families than any other factor (real or imagined) at WDW.

Not all ponchos in all parts of all parks change design at once.

And, since it is obviously a Disney poncho, they are just as likely to replace one that's torn, even if it was from another trip.

I'm not saying that they are OBLIGATED to do so, but it is a nice gesture that the CMs might easily and inexpensively do, especially during the Year(s) of a Million Dreams.

As Robo said, the reason for the change was for safety reasons. With our yellow ponchos on, even my husband and I had a hard time keeping track of each other in a sea of yellow. We always put our bags under the yellow ponchos so even that identifier was gone.

I like the clear ones now. Because we still have our yellow ones. So now we stand out!

BTW - you can get a pin with Mickey in a yellow poncho.

I have two lightweight nylon ponchos I have had for years and use at Disney they fold up very small and are Incredibly superior to the light weight trash bags Disney sells you for SO MUCH MONEY.
Now EVERYONE knows that it WILL rain when they are at Disney at SOME point. why do people not get decent light and comfortable ponchos and bring them from home????

Well thats easy, do the ones from home have an adorable Mickey on the back of it?
I've had ours for about 4 years now. I just fold it up, and use them each and every trip. Can't beat Mickey ponchos:thumbsup2

Well, my trip last week was the first one where I needed a poncho... So, I'd say it's not guaranteed that you'll get rained on.

And I have no interest in bringing anything else from home. Especially something I might not need. It's not like it's a $50 poncho. It's $7. More expensive than Wal-Mart, but not exactly breaking the bank or anything.

well then you have extrodinary luck, it normally rains almost every day there for some period even if it is just a few minutes I have never in 20 something years been when we did not have any rain any day.
But hey if people like to steam in plastic and pay $7 bucks or more I have heard they were more now, for something worth about .25 then more power to em I guess.

Just as an update to my original question - we are just back from 6 days at OKW and the wonderful woman at the gift shop at OKW replaced 2 of our ripped ponchos. All we had to do was bring them to her and she replaced them on the spot. Only problem is they don't seem as thick as the ones we got 2 years ago and the logo is no longer Mickey but it says Disney Parks on it but hey - can't complain there, we got new ones !
