We were in Disney for 9 days and wearing our DVC Mickey Flag pins. My husband and I must have been stopped 20 times about our pins. People were willing to trade ANYTHING for the pin!

I kind of got hooked on the pin trading thing my self and started a collection. I even stood in line for 1 1/2 hours to buy 4 LE Monster Inc pins. I didn't wait that long for any rides all week!

Has everyone gotten their DVC pins yet???

Yep, we got ours. I gave one to my sister, the second grade teacher because she thought her 'students' would go nuts over the Mickey (yeah, right!). And I've been wearing mine. Up until Sunday, when the backing kept coming off. I got so scared I'd lose it I haven't worn it since. But I wish I could....

We have not gotten ours... :( When we called Member Services to ask about it, they said to wait until 11/15 and see if we get them then. When we asked what happens if we don't get them, they gave us a phone number to call and order more, but we would have to pay for them.... They won't send replacements... I hope that they didn't get lost in the mail. Can anyone tell me if the packaging said anything about the Pins or what was inside?

Hi, I was wondering if you could share that phone number to order a pin? My envelope was thrown in the trash by accident. I would love the opportunity to order them! Do you know if they are the same pins?
Thanks,
Dawn

SCDizneyDawn.

The CM I spoke to at MS last week said they would <i>not</i> be the same pins - that once all of these pins have been mailed, that would be the end of the supply.

I even asked if I could drive over to a DVC sales office at WDW this past weekend and get my pins in person, and she said, "No. We don't have them here."

Oh well.

Wow they didn't tell me that, but I don't doubt it. Well, let me see if I can get that number. If it is just the general Disney World Merchandise number that will probably answer it. I will have to dig it up when I get home...

The DVC patriotic red/white/blue mickey pins are different than the ones the in parks and resorts in that they have the 9-11-01 script on the back, the stripes are a bit narrower, and the stars are a tad smaller.

The Mickey flag (for the lack of a better description) pins are really hard to find at WDW and sell out in a manner of an hour or so. The word spreads like wildfire. You are limited to 2 per transaction. I know all this because my spouse was on a crusade looking for these pins in late October. She wound up finding and buying 4. She bought 2 and I relented and bought 2 for her. She was going to give them as gifts to family. Oddly enough, these pins have been around for a few years according to cm that my wife spoke to in her quest. They were sold near the American Pavilion in Epcot and Hall of Presidents in MK. They were not necessarily in large demand prior to 11SEP01.

The funny thing is when we returned from our trip there were 2 of the 9/11 pins in our mail. And 2 of the folks she bought them for are also DVC members and had received the pins, too. Go figure. You have to laugh about it.

I was in Disneyland over the weekend and wearing my pin proudly. A CM in one of the shops asked if she could have it, jokingly! My answer was no. I did not see any of the others but I didn't stop at all of the pin places.

So, other than the inscription on the back, the pins are the same?

I'm actually glad you can't buy the exact same pin from MS (although I'm sorry for those whose pins are missing or damaged). If you could buy them, it just wouldn't be as special. Although I'm not a huge pin collector, these pins mean a lot to me and I do collect DVC "stuff" including the pins. I have two different kinds of "member only" pins-- one was sent by MS and I bought the other one. I was surprised as I thought there was only one member only pin.

Anyway, good luck to those who haven't received the precious flag pins yet.

I wish we could get a backing that worked because I'd love to wear mine when we go in December.

No the pins you can order are not the same. They are the "regular" ones that are sold in the parks. As you know, the DVC ones not only have the inscription on the back, but the flag design is different (smaller stars, more stripes shown)

DVCajun, which other pins are you referring to? I've received these two flag pins, a Wilderness Lodge one a while back, and that's all I can remember. Was there another one? Or did you buy it at one of the DVC resort shops?

Hi DVCajun,

I'm also curious...the ones mentioned by the previous poster are the only ones I've received and I've been a member for nearly ten years!

The pins I received have the DVC logo and "member" at the bottom. They weren't mailed to everyone. I called Member Services asking about how I could get some luggage tags and the pins were mailed shortly thereafter. A total and very pleasant surprise! :)

That's interesting DVCajun....I've seen pictures of what apparently was the pin you are talking about. It came on a large card as opposed to the box that the WLV pin came in? I remember seeing the picture and wondering if I had received it and just completely forgotten about it.

I wonder if they sell those at the DVC stores? Anyone ever see them there?

We got ours and I can't tell you how many folks stopped me and asked me where they could purchase them.:)

I bought a members only pin at the Old Key West merchandise shop. It is a white pin with the DVC emblem in the middle. Then has in gold letters Disney (on top of the logo) Vacation Club Member (below the logo). I had to show my DVC card in order to buy it.

Although others have posted them before, I'm posting the two pins it think that everyone is talking about to show the difference.

The WDW pin is the one that has been available in the past on the pin carts at WDW and may be available again now. They were totally out when I was there the last week of Sept and were not supposed to get any until mid to late October.

As you can see the DVC pin is a little different with 13 strips, more stars and the colors are a bit different. As others have said, the DVC pin has an inscription on the back but I don't believe that the WDW pin does.

Yes, the pin Gina described is the one I've seen as a DVC giveaway. I didn't get one for free......

The WDW pins (the design with the wider stripes and bigger stars) were available at the pin cart in front of the American Adventure at Epcot on November 7. They weren't on display. But you could ask for them.

We were pleased! Now our daughters have the WDW pins and my wife and I have the DVC pins. And we're not even pin collectors.

When we were at OKW in June 2000, we bought the member pin by showing our member card ($6.00). It came on a small card in a small envelope. It is a white oval with the logo in the middle, but the Disney on the top is BLUE and the Vacation Club Member is also in BLUE. It is not really a cloisonne pin. It is more of a picture with the thick plastic type top on it similar to the finish on the DVC mouse ears.

Gina, when did you buy your pin? I'm glad to know that there is a different variation out there. I try to collect the DVC stuff, but its hard to keep up if you miss a year in WDW!
