I would not usually make a review for something. I think there is enough postings out there that usually something can be reviewed by far better experts than I. However doing a search on google for Mickey Mix Magic there was not enough out there warning people to not waste their time that I had to make a post.

Have you ever wanted to spend the time during fireworks and waiting on the Matterhorn instead, but could never make yourself give up on the fireworks? Have you always wanted to save your $80 dollars from the dessert party for a hoodie instead? Have you thought your fireworks show should have less fireworks and more horrible music? Well, Mickey Mix Magic is for you, and by for you I mean, you can absolutely skip it. Not can skip it, SHOULD skip it.

I have never ever in my life ever told someone to ever skip fireworks, when I build itineraries for people or talk about must see's and do's. I until this weekend felt that the Disney parks fireworks shows were unparalleled achievements in old and new technology and were some of the most magical experiences you could have at the park, then I saw Mickey Mix Magic. It felt like if you gave a whole fireworks idea to your youngest and most inexperienced single Imagineer and said make a new fireworks show, and your budget it $27 dollars per night. We will give you this 1996 sample machine though to make the music for it yourself. It was truly terrible. Almost no fireworks. Horrible looping music that was barely danceable, which was the intent. Then the projection on the castle also looked really poorly mapped. It was just the worst show I have ever seen at any Disney Park. If you are looking to gain 2 hours of time, I would totally skip this show. I really can not even argue for you to see if it you have a pack of 7 year olds you are with. It just was too terrible for even them. So disappointing. I found nothing about it redeeming, or worth seeing. Go to Fantasmic, and skip Mickey Mix Magic.

I agree with most of your review, but my DH and my littlest LOVES this show, lol. It kinda grew on me after watching it a few times and seeing how much my dd enjoyed it.

Well, I guess that means one more spot available on Main Street. ;)

Is this the best show DLR has ever produced? No. But that doesn't mean I don't enjoy this one thoroughly.

Well, politely disagreed. We watched them from by It’s a Small World last night and thought it was great. But then each to their own

We watched near IASW and enjoyed it. I can see how the images on the castle weren't projecting correctly, the wide flat IASW facade is probably a better surface to see the projections. Also there's fireworks launched from the back lot (or is it from Toon Town?)

I really have fun at Mickey's Mix Magic on Main Street. You don't have to wait for a spot at all, just fill in after the parade goes by and they open the street. You are surrounded by the projections and music. Since they run this show without the fireworks, I don't really consider it a fireworks show. It's a dance party and when they started it during the Mickey's 90th birthday celebration, it was billed as exactly that. The fireworks are definitely secondary and just some random ones shot off the enhance the music.

This show doesn't move me in any way, but my kids thought it was a super fun way to spend 15? minutes and we'll do it again if it works with our night's plan. I was grateful to this board to know that it's not something worth camping out at all for. We walking up 10-15 minutes before and got a spot right in front of the castle (more or less) and it was really fun. You could also probably walk up right as it's starting and have a good view and a good time, which I really appreciate. It's lack of popularity is a plus for us in that way, since I often travel with a bunch of littles who are DONE with any kind of waiting around by that time of night, so they never get to see any of the good shows anyway. 🤣

It’s gotten a lot of mixed reviews. I personally think it’s fun. Its basically EDM meets Disney lol. Its for sure not like other firework shows, but it’s not awful. Also I kind of like that you can just show up and watch. It’s the least stressful entertainment Disney has offered I think lol

I actually really enjoy it, but see it as more of a 'dance party in the streets' with some fireworks thrown in. I agree, if I were expecting one of their usual fabulous fireworks shows, I would be disappointed too.

By far my least favorite fireworks show I've ever seen at Disneyland. And I plan my evenings around being able to watch fireworks. I won't anymore for this one. Nothing about the show felt "Disney" to me. I didn't feel any emotional attachment to Disney Rides or Disney Movies. The fireworks were okay, but the music and projections didn't hit for me. Granted, I'm probably not their target market at age 51. But I am the one who funds the trips for their target market in my family. ;) It just felt too much like any other loud, hyper dance club. That said, I did see a lot of people around me dancing and having a great time, so I know my perspective isn't the only one (in fact, there is no "right" perspective by definition!). I'll watch it again if it works for my schedule that night so I can see if I was just off that night. But I won't plan around it. The second night of our trip it was going again and we just kept walking to get to a ride. :)

Just wondering after reading some of the mixed reviews. Will this night time show be the permanent evening show? Or is this the off season show and a different show will be shown in peak summertime.?

Count me as one who likes it. I mean, it has Everybody Wants to be a Cat in it! Sure, it's not the "emotional" Wishes/Remember, Dreams Come True type of heart-string puller, but they don't all have to be. I found it fun and people seemed to love dancing to the music. I also like the newer Mickey shorts, so that probably helps.

I'm okay with it as a filler between big Halloween, Christmas, and summer fireworks shows. But I'm not excited to see that it's still on the calendar for spring break season. I want Remember, Dreams Come True to come back. Mickey's Mix Magic isn't in the same ballpark.

I think we will see more "firework" shows that have less fireworks and more projections. This is so that they can still put on a show when it's too windy. Also I believe they are now able to run Mickey's Mix Magic during the week when they would normally not have any show. I think Disneyland is going to move more towards these types of "fireworks" shows.

If you want a fireworks show you need to take a trip to Disneyworld- I think every resort except animal kingdom has a show involving fireworks.

I have yet to see this show live but looking foward to seeing it in April. when I first watched on youtube I was like whatever. But after watching a few times I'm really enjoy the music.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes it! I think it's a fun energy boost before a late night, and it's cool Disney is trying something different. (And shockingly, my 70 year old mother who's horrified by all contemporary music loved it!?)

OP, I asked a few questions about Mickey's Mix Magic in another thread a couple days ago because I hadn't seen any recent info either! I'm glad you brought it up again. And your post made me laugh out loud.

Agree! My little cousin is afraid of the booms that come with fireworks, but we all love projection shows*. So, this could be right up our alley. A nighttime show available to be viewed on a whim is super appealing to me!

*In 2018 at MK we ended up getting a lovely view of the castle projection show because...it started to rain! :rotfl2:Crowds dispersed and we watched as long as we could before running off to buy ponchos.

What a charming description. And is there a little parade that goes with the show?
